Friend/resident they were dining with Friday night said they had spent the afternoon watching celebrities leave the island, during the course of the dinner conversation.
Jake shouldn't be forced out, but it has always been a danger I think for Jake because he is in a relationship and has flirted with coming out, and maybe on some level even wants the decision to be taken out of his hands. It still doesn't make it right though. The fear that he would be outed in a very unpleasant way is one of the reasons why I've always thought it would be better if he just came out.

If they had have frigging well allowed him to come out years ago when he wanted to he wouldn't be in this situation.
The more Hollywood tries to cover up for men and women in same sex relationships the more they are likely to be outed in the most terrible way. I'm not a fan of this, but it didn't surprise me sadly.

I may be wrong but I would consider it a bona fide outing if it was done in the tabs or, as it happened earlier this year, in publications like The Advocate. Unless this guy comes up with supporting pics, he will be just one more member of the "Jake is bi/gay" online club. Some people will call him crazy, others will believe him, accusations will fly, support will pour in, the usual drill. But it will still be considered a mere blog thing that will probably go largely unnoticed in the mainstream press.
I get the feeling that we're simply dealing with somebody who's doing some serious catching-up. As one poster points out over at his blog, up to now JJ thought Jeese was the real thing!
I support outing politicians, religious leaders and any other public personalities who hurt the GLBT community. On the artistic front, the recent “outing” issue of The Advocate comes to my mind and I remember nodding in approval as I saw the names of Jodie Foster and Anderson Cooper on the cover, probably because those in power who perpetuate the cult of silence in the name of privacy just make me cringe.
As for Jake, I think he’s still in an extremely vulnerable position career-wise and given HW’s homophobia, it seems (or at least that's what people want us to believe) that any outing would endanger his dreams of becoming an established movie actor. Also, if he’s outed, he may be totally unprepared to face the consequences, both professional an personal, which means pain and emotional hardships for him as well as for his SO. So in the end I much prefer to have him coming out on his own terms.
You are absolutely right to point out that he wouldn't be in this situation if he had been allowed to be himself in the first place.

Remember My Big Fat Greek Wedding, Shakespeare in Love, BBM, etc.? Obviously these were not made with the young male movie-goer in mind and they brought nice profits to the studios.
Sometimes I feel that young males make up the bulk of the movie-going crowd simply because there are movies for THEM out there.

It's not that it's JUST a blog though. It's the whole can of worms this opens in the bigger context. This letter to JJ is powerful; it's angry, it gives details, times, names, info. Whether you choose to believe it or not if it spreads it's what it opens up further afield. Then come denials, more silly photo ops, fake PDAs and stories with Reese, the whole thing is just an endless sad spiral all because of the terrific fear of being perceived as being gay.
And you have to ask yourself, if Jake is walking aroud LA with his bf/s (and this same thing has been said in many places, that's he's very open about it), then it is not Jake that cares.
But someone else does. But like anything else who needs bad fans? Good fans would stand by any actor who came out? Those would be the sort of fans I'd want even if it weren't an army.
But, I don't know what's gonna happen here! It might fizzle out, run for a few days and be forgotten, cleaned up or JJ may be forced to U-Turn. More Reese PDA? Who knows. Personally I hope he does come out and end it on his own terms but I don't run the house in Hollywood. He may have to say the three words, except with a "not" in there. We just don't know at all.

You have a lot to great things to say. Sorry we missed your name. What do you prefer?
Unfortunately it seems like most of HW is focused on the blockblusters, with movies that appeal to women only popping up on occassion even though they make money. Some of it is because young males take in multiple showings of the blockbusters. I also think women probably don't put their foot down often enough when it comes to movie choices. Women will go to the "guy" films, but when you go to a film like Greek Wedding the audience is mostly female, and they're going with their friends instead of their boyfriends.
I just watched that clip from Knocked Up about BBM because I was talking about it with friends who had not seen it. When you think about what it is expressing it is kind of radical in its own way. On the other hand, it got left out, probably for the same reason.

I also agree with you, Frenchy. I haven't believed in baby tile from the beginning. Besides the fact that they both seem "young" to me in terms of maturity, they seem to be at that point in their careers where they are both ready to move up to the next level. Why would they choose this time to have a child?

They are both family orientated, love their respective nieces and nephew, and I can't discount the baby bug might have bitten them.
Yes maybe the time is not the best. Maybe they are having a child, maybe they are waiting a bit. But I can see them with a baby sooner than later.
I think we sometimes think of men, who have the ability to have children until whenever, putting it off, when in fact there are many men their age who want to be fathers.
If and when they have a child, I am sure that they will be both great dads.

I agree that our opinions are often guided by our own experience. My sister had her first child when she wasn't ready and her second when she was fully aware of what motherhood entailed. Her first child had an hectic childhood (I'm being generous here), her second a stable home and two loving parents. So I have a tendency to say “wait” when I feel that solid foundations do not exist to welcome a new little human being.
In HW, men generally postpone fatherhood when they’re in the process of climbing the professional ladder. This is a ferocious and merciless fight and J&A are in the midst of it, on their own accord. If they were to have a baby now, they would have to juggle all the stress of being first-time parents, extreme professional pressure, the upheavals of being a totally out couple for the first time in their life, and so on. All this for two men who, like a lot of HW guys their age, come across as slightly immature. So IMO, this is not the best of times to have a child.
I'm not saying that Baby Tile will not materialize in the future, nor that twenty-something males are automatically unfit for parenthood. It’s just that as a fan what I’ve seen Jaustin say and do recently do not point to a couple who’s on the verge of having a baby.
On the other hand I agree that life and love often have a way to interfere with the most meticulous plans and the deepest ingrained common sense. Sometimes for the best. :-)

Well, I finally read Jonathan's Jake is gay blog and I must say, I did laugh when I read the details of the SUV rendezvous outside the gourmet Chinese restaurant in West Hollywood. Was this before dinner or after?
And I am fascinated by the details of the surrogacy. And the baby is coming soon!! Seriously, if this is true, how will they hide this?? Eventually, you're going to take your baby outside and walk him/her in a stroller so he/she will get some air. You can't just hide it inside your house 24/7.
None of this has hit the mainstream press. If it doesn't, I think Jake and his people will just ignore it.

The DUI did not take a full day to be reported by the mainstream press, if you remember it was a local MI paper that first reported it. I feel bad for Chris, because his name is being mentioned in all the blogs for the most part not Austin. And no need to hold a vigil and worry because I doubt that Jakes people will comment on internet chatter unless the mainstream media picks it up.

You can't sue for libel if what is said is true. The difference with public and private figures is that with a public figure you have to show that the source was reckless in their disregard for the truth, not just negligent.

Apparently JJ is a prime example of how youth and eagerness can do oneself a major disservice. All experienced gossip specialists knew about TT yet JJ just seemed so genuinely surprised.
I think nothing will transpired in the mainstream press be it online or off. As for any possible warning given by Jake's management, the possibility of a warning by 360 doesn't seem far-fetched to me.
I have to say I feel for Jake. He must be under tremendous pressure. He wants to come, but is advised not to do it; there are no precedents for an out gay actor in HW; and all the time the pressure from the gossip world is mounting. It must be very hard to figure out what to do and when, especially with everything else that is going on in his life right now (Austin's arrest, and if it is true, the imminent arrival of baby Tile). Hope he is doing ok.

I said yesterday that I felt like I was waiting for something but didn't know what. I think what I'm waiting for is some indication that the boys are okay. At least we will see Jake at the TIFF soon.
Unless I'm missing something Wicked, if what is published about someone is true then the only way I could see to prove it is "false" in court is for the slandered person to testify that it is false, which would require that person to lie. Even if the burden is on the defendant to prove it is true, he would have the right to call the plaintiff to testify. Of course all of this is really moot because unless someone is really getting bad advice, you wouldn't sue a blogger like this even if it is false because it would just bring a lot of unwanted publicity.

As Random tb points out the pressure is mounting, at least online. Do you think it's possible that Jake's PR people consider that latest "incident" a close call? That because JJ named Jake they might consider some kind of damage control? Or will they let this pass as everything else that's been alleged about Jake on the Net?
I think they let it go unless it starts hitting places like Page Six or NY Daily News. I would be suprised if places like that will touch something like this.

Chris used to live in NYC; he worked as a sous chef for one of Mario Batali's restaurants. Then when Mario was opening a few restaurants, he moved to LA the end of last year/earlier this year. He did live with Jake for awhile but a few months ago, he got his own place in Venice. He also does have a girlfriend and from what I heard, is straight. But then who the heck knows what goes on behind people's closed doors.
Austin does not live with Jake. Last I heard, he lived in Santa Monica; most recently, there were rumors he had an apartment in Brentwood.

If Chris is the boyfriend, then there is at least stability there because there isn't with Austin.

How do you know this? If this is true, then I feel even more sorry for Austin. I'm sorry but whatever problems they had, Jake should be there for Austin. There could have been dire consequences for Austin had the cops not stopped him (he was driving the wrong way on a one-way road). Maybe Jake called him though? Or maybe Jake called and offered to see him but Austin didn't want to see him at this time. WE don't know. Seriously, no one knows unless it's Jake and Austin.

Thanks for the link. I still feel bad for Austin. I certainly don't condone drinking and driving but I don't think he was being reckless. Can anyone judge when they've had too much to drink? I guess the only way to be sure is not to drink and drive at all. I admit to drinking a glass of wine with dinner and then driving home afterwards. What amazes me is that most people seem to drink a lot more than that and still get behind the wheel.

I've been going back and forth between here and OMG and I've been thinking about the post abt Jake not going to MI and J&A not being OK.
Well, the 'they're not OK' is not good but not surprising. Things for them seem to be high drama at the best of times and what with the DUI and the JJ blog, etc, it's believable that they may be in a rough patch. Or are trying to deal with approaching fatherhood while in the closet and/or quasi-bearding. So a 'rough patch' is understandable.
As for Jake not being MI, if you think abt it, it was probably never a possibility. OK, maybe for the first 15 minutes are so after Jake heard. But after that, I can see AUSTIN telling him not to come. Maybe it would have gone something like what follows. I'll skip over the mushy stuff that the conversation would have started with; I'm sure you can all fill that in. :)
"No Jake. You don't have to come. No really. I fucked up OK, I know. But I'm OK. Everyone's OK. Now is not the time for us to be seen together. Yeah, yeah, I know you're usually the reasonable one. Talking about babies and children, I had way too much coffee last night and a really hard time getting sleep so I decided to put my temporary insomnia to good use (lol) and checked some threads at FCC. I found a Jodie Foster's interview in which she talked about fearing that her sons harbored acting ambitions. One poster at FCC pointed out that she talks about her kids and her parenting as if she were a single parent (despite being in a long-term relationship with a woman). I just imagined these boys becoming movie actors and having to go through interviews with the usual family-oriented questions. Surely they couldn’t talk as if they had just one mom. Truth from the mouths of babes indeed!
Austin does not live with Jake. Last I heard, he lived in Santa Monica; most recently, there were rumors he had an apartment in Brentwood.

Many people have expressed scepticism about Baby Tile. The scenario doesn't seem very plausible to me either, J&A are young and at demanding points in their careers. But are we creating a double standard for gay people and parenting? Look at Heath & Michelle -- Michelle got pregnant almost immediately after they got incolced with each other. Were they mature enough to be parents? Probably not but they had to grow.
Of course for gay people and especially men it takes a lot more effort and planning to have children, as it just doesn't happen by accident. If TT really is going to have a baby he has had to think it through carefully. Maybe Jake and Austin (if he is the bf) are more mature than we give them credit for. At least, you don't usually see them acting stupidly in public like many other young actors (Austin's DUI excluded).
Baby Tile does seem unbelievable which is why it could actually be true. Ted is putting his reputation on the line with it and so is JJ. Why write something that wild if at least Ted didn't have strong evidence or a very reliable source? We'll have to wait and see and unlike some I would love for BT to be true. They both come across as slightly immature but I can see them becoming responsible parents once the baby is born.

And BTW, JJ's e-mail source was actually a poster over at FCC that used to poste on WFT and DL as well, a former TT "fan", that's why the info is nothing more than recycled BI's, they just added the clinic name (Westwood where Jake lives/HH)picked a name of a resturaunt on the Sunset strip, chose Chin Chin to be cheeky and used a well reported tidbit about Jake and Kristen arguing at that hotel to make in seem like it was new info. The "date" of the birth was from the poster on FCC on the TT thread posting, "The truth will be known on Labor Day". Some thought the holiday but than they posted a date on WFT: 9/24/07, then some realized that they meant labor as in giving birth. They chose that date to screw with you guys because ted's orginal mention of this was Jan/Feb of this year. They got a gullible and not to bright blogger, JJ to go along. Now why would they do that? Well considering the reaction from the blogs, they are treating this as a joke maybe I answered my own question.

8:48AM: A gossip blogger has no reputation to put on the line, not even Ted. You are dealong with a BI. JJ got his info from reading ted's BI's, that's his "source". BI's are lawsuit proof as well. Besides, he never gave a birth date, he just said they were planning. The end of Sept. will come and go and he still has them planning to fall back on, JJ will by then move on to something else.

JJ has nothing to lose, Ted has been around and is established, but again TT is BI and in regards to the baby time frame, he NEVER gave as actual date, so he is free to keep saying they are still planning. A procededure like that takes time and he knows it. He also knows that most of his readers are women and any type of baby talk will make tyour ovararies explode.
