Please see the Guidance Counselor

Does this look like your high school guidance counselor? Mine neither. What school has guidance counselors that look like this? Oh...high schools on TV.

Friday Night Lights Speculation and Spoilers

Chatter and speculation leans to Austin playing a science teacher/guidance counselor, named Glenn Reed. The sides say that Glenn Reed is in his 30's, nice looking, and a little uptight. He appears in episode 2, and stays through episode 6, which fits the arc the The Statesman reported.

My, my, my!

What a VERY pleasant way to wake up. Who wouldn't want to linger in bed, greeting the day with laughter and Austin.

Jake, you are one extremely lucky man.

If Austin is in Eps 2-6, then I think he should have filmed parts of his role already. Network tv shows unlike cable shows have to keep a tight schedule.

The description makes sense to me. When we first heard of it, I thought--hmmm, he still has his JFC hair. Don't think they're going to go for sexy, more like a bit nerdy. And that seems to be the case.

Also, kind of on topic, Austin getting two projects one right after the other after JFC's cancellation seems to debunk the theory that the J&A rumors are keeping the two from from getting work. I think that in A's case he's an up-and-coming actor, going up for parts, climbing the ladder, so to speak. As for J, he just seems to be choosey when it comes to picking roles. And he appears to be in the position to do so.

One more thing. Wonder if it's his growing rep in HW or his connections in Austin, or both, that got him the role on FNL?

Heph, J&A musing on a Sunday morning :)

According to imdb, Glenn Reed is being played by a guy named Steven Walters, and his first ep was filmed a while ago. Maybe they replaced him and extended his arc....otherwise I think he's playing a different teacher.

Special K said...

The talk was they replaced the first actor with Austin and reshot it.

Wow, what a great way to start a Sunday - thanks for playin' my song this morning!

Uh, no . . . my high school guidance counselor nevah looked like this. If he did, I would have needed a lot more guidance! I do remember a very handsome substitute science teacher tho . . . lol Very much looking forward to seeing Austin in his new role, and I hope they bring back JFC too.

Have a great Sunday, all.

My guidance counselor was a balding, potbellied fiftysomething who wore enormous glasses and a goatee. A GC looking like Austin would have been extremely distracting, lol.

Great pic, great post and great song. Thanks for that beautiful wake-up call. :)

Why sigh, Rattler?
Just a general sense of melancholy, Wicked.

But Special K's funny post and that SNL short with Jake making fun of his beard cheered be up.

Simple pleasures of life :)

Anonymous said...

...cheered me up.
No, I don't have a blocked nose :)

^^:) I missed SNL last night - I hope someone will YouTube it! :)

From IHJ

'Jake makes a quick, blink-and-you'll-miss-it appearance in the digital short on SNL tonight. Andy Samberg sings a love song to Iran President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.

One of the SNL regulars impersonates Ahmadinejad, whom Samberg likens to "my very heavy Jake Gyllenhaal." They put a pic of TIFF Jake next to a pic of Ahmadinejad. Then later, we get a flash of recent Jake (you can tell because of the beard and haircut) flashing the V or peace sign.'

I think it was "my very hairy Jake Gyllenhaal". I could be wrong, though.

I'm sorry but I resent that Andy Samberg is comparing the INSANE, FUCKED-UP President of Iran to Jake (even if it's only looks-wise). As a Jake fan and an Iran President hater, that makes my blood boil.

If my guidance counselor looked like Austin, I would have been in his office every single day on every single possible excuse ("I don't know how to fill out the application, can you show me?"). Where did you get this photo of Austin? Is it recent? He's so gorgeous.

Special K said...

This picture is about from GQ three years ago. Thought it was a great picture, liked the shadow and the expression in his eyes.

NETB- I hope this is the right version of your song. There were 3 different versions. I picked this one because it's the Radio Edit and you said you had heard it on the radio.

Rattler, I hope you get over your melancholy. I am glad to see the new pictures of Jake leaving the party show no one in the backseat. That made me happy. :)

I am looking forward to Austin on Friday Night Lights. I keep hearing it's a great show and I've never watched it. And I am a huge football fan. Well, now I have to check it out.

Dara, it's satire.

And since Jake was part of the digital short, I think he gets that it's satire, too. :-)

I thought the SNL short was very funny, and what better way to make fun of someone who claims there are no homosexuals in their country.

I love this picture of Austin. Special, do you know exactly which issue of GQ this is from? I found it too hard to try and read the IMDB threads, so I don't know what people are saying about the show, but the coach's wife is a guidance counselor, hmmm.

Anonymous said...

Hey, thanks, Wicked.
Thanks to the newer photos, the mystery was quickly resolved. Phew!

Congrats to the 2007 Philadelphia Phillies National League Champs. Go Fightin Phils........

He ran . . . for the President of Iran,
Together we ran . . . to a tropical island . . .

OMG, I just watched Andy Samberg's clip, the entire scenario and lyrics are just so absurdly funny. It was funny seeing Jake in it too. I'm sorry I missed this last night, I hope they'll repeat it! It was funny seeing Jake in it too. I agree that in light of Mr. Ahmadinejad's recent comments, it was a very funny parody. I thought D**k in a Box was hysterically funny too. Andy Samberg is very clever and talented. :)

Wicked, the song is perfect, it's the only version I know! Thanks for playing it! ;)

Special K said...

Well Tom, let's remember who has the best record in baseball.

Go Sox!

Great pic of Austin! He and Jake sure are beautiful. :)

For anyone who missed it, HERE is the SNL A. Samburg digital short with Jake. Very, very cute cameo from our boy! ;)

Like I said Special 2007 World Series: Boston Red Sox vs Philadelphia Phillies. How sweet does that sound? WOW!

Tomorrow we will have a very special song and dedication. Watch for it. :)

Tom, that is going to be sweeeeeeeet! Congrats to the Phillies! ;)

Jake is very, very cute in the SNL digital short cameo.

I definitely will watch for the special song and dedication tomorrow. :)

I just watch the SNL short with the Mrs. She said the CIA will probably use it in psych-ops! Apparently they used the clip of the song from the South Park movie that makes fun of Saddam Hussein being in a relationship with Satan as a psych-op.

Natalie Portman in Brothers!!

Anonymous said...

Thank god it's her and not Misha Barton (gag) or Reese (sorry Reese fans--DOUBLE TRIPLE GAG).

I'm sure the tabloids will get a lot of mileage out of Jake/natalie redux though.

From DL:

“I just saw Austin Nichols coming out of the Ralphs on Sunset. Just one plastic bag of groceries. He was smiling and looked really cute and in great shape. 09/30/07 @03:46”

Thanks sighting. I like a smiling Austin.
Austin as any kind of teacher - Phwoooar.

The only good thing about N Portman joining Brothers is that the Jake portion of the Jeese fans will jump ship to their one true pairing111!!! and the Reese portion of the Jeese fans won't know what hit them.

From today's AT:
"Hot little lovesick thing Eva Longoria, who's been far more of a screamer about her love for her man, Tony Parker, than some recently engaged fruit we know,...".
Last week's blurb on Jake at the Rufus show was called 'Staged and Engaged' which a few posters mentioned at the time. Could it be....? :-)

Anonymous said...

gc, what a *glorious* idea :)

Thanks for the beautiful Austin pic, Special. I had to bookmark it on my phone :) Great hair there, Austin (hint) :)*

I am very late to the car/distressed Jake saga. I don't see distressed. I see his eyebrows growing towards his eyes, and the straw he's sucking, both of which give him an unusual expression. Then he's doing that backing-out maneouvre we all hate, while being papped, so it's not going to result in his best look. I don't think there is anyone under the blanket :D I am far more inclined to think there was someone in the back in the Jar/car pics recently.

Ha, ha, ha!!! Great song. Very à propos!

You piqued my curiosity yesterday and I absolutely had to check OMG before leaving for work. :D :D

Have a great day everybody!

GC.... great pick up on Ted Speak, it makes minds wonder.

But what a wondrous thing to wonder about.

Hmmm, if true, methinks the two are spending some quality time together before each goes off to do his respective movie.

Guess it was Austin's turn to do the food run again. :)

Maybe we'll be getting another Jausty pic soon?

Not to mention the new ring on a chain for Austin.........:-)

"Staged 'n' Engaged
Celebs come out in full force for the Rufus Wainwright concert at the Hollywood Bowl...Why was Jake Gyllenhaal so shy at the songfest? Plus, we tackle your e-rants and cyber-raves!

Brokeback Bowl!......"

Looking back at the column I noticed that the Staged and Engaged headline only applies to the little section about Rufus and Jake. The other people mentioned like Jimmy Fallon and Reese are under a new heading Brokeback Bowl. Very interesting. I rest my case, your honor!

Whoa! The dedication is superb!!
Too good. Just too good.

That photo of Austin is gorgeous, Special. And his hair is the ideal look for him. I'm with Scylla in the hint-hint dept. on this.

I also love the idea of Jake and Natalie in "Brothers". They already have good chemistry together which I think will translate well to the screen. And to tell you the truth, I won't mind any reported "romance" between the two of them. We'll know it's not true, but it will wreak havoc on Jeese. Poor Natalie and Reese will be in a tug-of-war over Jake. He'll probably have to spend more and more time with Austin to get away from all the fighting. ;)

Anonymous said...

Ah, so cute if the engagement is true. That was my first thought when I saw Austin's new ring. Also Jake just doesn't give the vibe of being on the market/free and single (nor does our young buck)which is one of the reasons I believe in Jaustin.

Anonymous said...

Great dedication, Special! ;)

Love that the SNL digital short with Jake is making its way around the internet and getting lots of laughs. :)
And I am still very happy about Natalie P. in "Brothers".

Wicked said...

We will have to keep a close eye on Ted and this recently engaged fruit he's mentioning. Hmmmmmm.

Blue Velvet said...

I had two thoughts when I read about the engaged fruit. My first thought was that Ted was referring to TT. My second thought was that Ted was referring to himself. Guess we'll have to wait and see if he gives us any other clues about this.

BTW, great dedication - it's perfect!

Thought you all might enjoy the Iran So Far Lyrics-

They say true love comes only once in a lifetime
and even though we’re from opposite ends of the earth,
my heart tells me you’re the one for me.
Mahmoud

I remember when it started, saw you in the news
you were hating gays and I was eating food
I was feeling you, and even though I disagreed with almost everything you said
you aint wrong to me, so strong to me, you belong to me
Like a very hairy Jake Gyllenhaal and me
Mahmoud make my heart beating out of my chest
my mind says no but my body says yes
(something) The only threat I see, is the threat of you not coming home to me.
Our love for each other’s like when atoms collide
Can’t express how I feel
And yo Adam let’s rhyme

And Iran, Iran so far away
is your home, but in my heart you’ll stay

He ran, for the president of Iran
we ran together for a tropical island
my man, Mahmoud is known for violence
smiling, if he can still do it then I can
they call you weasel, they say your methods are medieval
you can blame the Jews I can be your Jim Caviezel

S&M, listenin’ when we’re wrestlin’
You can be the port that I put my vessel in
So I try to (martini?) but you can still see me
with your sleepy brown eyes, white pecan thighs
And your hairy butt…
Yeah.

And Iran, Iran so far away
come home, and in my arms you’ll stay
Used to look at the stars and dream
round the world the same stars we’ve seen
And a twinkle in your eyes Mahmoud.

Talk smooth to me
high waist damn so fly.
We can take a trip to the animal zoo
and laugh at all the funny things that animals do
Like Eugene(?), you got me strait trippin’ boo
hope you look at my eyes and say I’m trippin’ too
You say (?) but they already do
you should know by now, it’s you.

You crazy for this world Mahmoud
you can deny the holocaust all you want
but you can’t deny that there’s something between us
I know you say there’s no gays in Iran
but you’re in New York baby
so time to stop hating(?),
and start living

And on that note Wicked a new post is in order and is up!

Anonymous said...

Wicked, thanks for posting those brilliantly satirical lyrics - I was hoping somebody would. Love Andy Samberg. :)

Anonymous said...

Oh Wicked, I just couldn't resist filling in some of the blanks in the lyrics, because I'm neurotic that way . . . tee hee! They are very funny. ;) I also added some rhythym:

Iran So Far by Andy Samberg (with guest vocals by Adam Levine and cameo appearance by Jake Gyllenhaal)

They say true love comes only once in a lifetime,
And even though we’re from opposite ends of the earth,
My heart tells me you’re the one for me. Mahmoud.

I remember when it started, saw you on the news,
You were hating gays; I was eating food.

But I was feelin’ you, and even though I disagreed with almost everything you said,
You ain’t wrong to me, so strong to me, you belong to me.
Like a very hairy Jake Gyllenhaal to me.

Mahmoud, you make my heart beat right outta my chest,
My mind says no, but my body says yes.

Nuclear threat? The only threat I see,
Is the threat of you not comin’ home with me.

Our love for each other’s like when atoms collide,
Can’t express how I feel,
And, yo, Adam, let’s rhyme.

And Iran, Iran so far away -
Is your home, but in my heart you’ll stay.

He ran, for the president 'a Iran,
We ran, together, to a tropical island.
My man, Mahmoud, is known for violence,
Smilin’, if he can still do it then I can.

They call you weasel, they say your methods are medieval,
You could play the Jews, I could be your Jim Caviezel.

S&M, nestlin’ when we’re wrestlin’,
You could be the port that I put my vessel in.

So I try to nuke the TV, but you can still see me,
With your sleepy brown eyes, butter pecan thighs,
And your hairy butt . . .Yeah.

And Iran, Iran so far away -
Come home, and in my arms you’ll stay.

I used to look at the stars and dream,
’Round the world, the same stars we’ve seen,
And the twinkle in your eyes, Mahmoud.

Talk smooth to me, till we outta time,
Your pants high waisted, damn, so fly.

We can take a trip to the animal zoo,
And laugh at all the funny things that animals do.

Like Eugene, you got me straight trippin’, boo,
Hope you’ll look in my eyes and say I’m trippin’ too.

You say Iran don’t have the time, but they already do,
You should know by now, it’s you. It’s you.

And Iran, Iran so far away –
Is your home, and in my heart you’ll stay.

You crazy for this one, Mahmoud.
You can deny the Holocaust all you want,
But you can’t deny that there’s somethin’ between us.

I know you say there’s no gays in Iran,
But you’re in New York now, baby.
It’s time to stop hidin’ . . . and start livin’.

Woooooohooooooooooooo . . . .
