Can't Find My Way Home

Here's one of the last pictures we've seen of Jake. Haven't seen him in a while. No sightings over the big Thanksgiving holiday weekend. No reports of him. Brothers starts filming soon and hopefully Jake will start looking more like himself again. And maybe he got a much-needed pick-me-up by spending time with his favorite Texan this holiday weekend? We can only hope. Find your way home soon, Jake.

That is the WORST version of this classic song I think I've ever heard!

What in the hell made you pick a cover so horrible? Blind Faith, baby, BLIND. FAITH.

Hope all of you who celebrated thanksgiving had a wonderful holliday with family and friends. Can`t say i`ve missed new Reeke-photos, but i`m expecting more of them to come. What i`m really looking forward to is seeing a blond Austin some day. Can`t promise you i wont laugh though:)

Sorry for the double post.

Norwergian girl, we had no pics no sign of the anticipated avalange of Reeke pics everyone was so sure to come. Still, you are talking Reeke and waiting for the pics to show up. Gosh, what an obsession!

Aren't we supposed to refrain from attacking fellow posters at OMG?

Troll pa-troll- yup. But disagreement is okay.

Just stopping by - thanks for the Mary Renault post - if NETB and destiny start reading her now, we might not see them until spring, so that's a bad thing :)

Anonymous said...

I can't wait to see a blond Austin either NG. I was kind of hoping we'd get pictures of him in Uruguay since they probably don't get a lot of films shooting there, but I guess we're not going to get that lucky.

Anonymous said...

No news is good news? I figured we'd be in for it today.

Wow, I'd forgotten how much I love this song, I like the guitar in this version, and especially the Blind Faith original. I always like hearing new interpretations of songs. :)

No need to worry london tb, fortunately (or unfortunately) I spend more time on the internet than I do reading books these days. I still haven't even cracked open the copy of The Informers I have sitting on my nightstand.

I recently found out that Austin is a USC Trojan. I always knew there was something about him that I liked. ;)

Gosh it's been crazy these last few days and it felt like we were actually celebrating Thanksgiving too! But I had time to lurk a couple of times. Thanks for the Mary Renault post and the NE list. I don't have time to elaborate now (guess why...) so I'll try to come back tonight.

I saw "No Country for Old men" this week-end: Brilliant! I was seeing Javier Bardem for the first time and I've no problem understanding why he was featured on Esquire's list.

See you later!

Wicked said...

Frenchy, please say more about No Country for Old Men when you have a chance. I'm curious about this film.

Anonymous said...

Yes, Frenchy, please do. I saw the previews for it recently and just from that alone he's fabulous. I hope to see it soon. :)

Anonymous said...

I'll come back tonight. :)

A couple of quick remarks: no music at all - and no need for it believe me; breathtaking scenery, a laconic and very efficient Tommy Lee Jones; Josh Brolin reminded me a bit of Charles Bronson in his very good days. Bardem is fascinating and scary. Very, very violent movie. Bye!

Anonymous said...

Come home, Jake!!!!

Anonymous said...

I also saw No Country for Old Men during the Turkey Day weekend (and I'm Not There). Bardem is mesmerizing as the villain, Brolin reminds me of Nick Nolte (also channelling a bit of Lee Marvin and Steve McQueen) and Tommy Lee Jones is excellent as always. My only disappointment was the abrupt ending--and I do wish we could have seen the confrontation between Brolin/Bardem that ended in one of their deaths. To not see that when so much of the film was a cat and mouse chase was cheating the audience.

The scene between Bardem and the actress who played Brolin's wife was very affecting.

Oops--that was me.

Thanks Broadway for remembering to add your name - much appreciated.

Thanks Frenchy for the little snippet, look forward to reading more of what you thought too.

I have read some great reviews of No Country. I am a big fan of the Cohen brother's work. It is definitely on my list of movies to catch.

that picture of Jake is really sad, he just looks so grey and deflated. Hopefully some hot texan spice has put the colour back in his cheeks over the weekend.

Hoping for happier Jake pics in the coming weeks.

Tom, you`re so sweet:)
No pics, i don`t hope for very PDA-photos of Jake and Reese as i think they are staged. A friendship-photo once in a while i would not mind though. All i meant i will not be surprised if there will be more, but i too hope Jake will find his way home soon.
I don`t feel obsessed about Jake or Reese. I have spent more time searching for interviews of TR Knight and NPH the last days than thinking of Jake or Reese.

I know this is a little late, but just want to say the mermaid-video posted two days ago was awsome! I liked the end very much:) Freedom!

Anonymous said...

Love mermaids and thought the video had good intention and good storyline but the execution was atrocious!

Anonymous said...

Thank you, joker, for reminding me of John B. I have only heard his name through some posts on WFT,(I think)but would love to see some more of him. He will be my next target when i`m searching for interviews;)
I know we hoped Toothy/Jake would come out(maybe there is still hope?), but at this point my respect when it comes to his behavior just ain`t all that much.
What i am greatful for now, are the celebrities we already have "out."
I guess i`m in a stage where i`m trying to learn some more about some of them. There are some lights after all:)

norvegian girl, weren't you the one who said that thinking that Jake was with Austin was more fun than otherwise once? How about sticking to that and let it be if it turns out differently? I would think being disappointed is perfectly ok, and I am too since things don't seem to be going in the direction I'd like them to go. But loosing respect over :
1. something I have really NO proof about
2. Jake 's inability to come out for reasons I do NOT know
3. Jake showing PDA with another actress perhaps for convenience while the rest of HW does the same, inclusing some of the so called alternative serious people

I think is a bit too much.
Are you gay have you been in a situation where people say all kinds of hartful things about you and your alleged bf and don't seem to be able to address the possibility of a serious relationship between the 2 of you without making crass, stupid remarks about you? Do you seriously think Jake's situation is the same as NPH or TR Knight?
It's tough in HW, for a leading man! And it si tougher when a couple of movies in a row are not big successes. Give him some time.

Come home indeed, Jake. In every way possible.

Sorry for little to no input from me lately, I've been battling a bad cold - though I'm happy to say I'm winning. :) I'm happy to hear everyone had a nice Thanksgiving. Frenchy, I know what you mean, reading here it almost felt like we had another holiday up here!

You don't need a budget to know how to use your software, or what pictures to use to create a collage. I am not talking budget. Glad you found it (caugh) great.

Well, her feature film fucking rocks (vivavoce.com/themovie.html) and this little film was very cute too. I personally like the grungy/DIY aesthetic, and I've curated a few film festivals, mainly arthouse experimental. I hope she makes her next short DIY piece in layers (on Gimp, maybe, Daff?), but that doesn't mean it's not a cute and effective piece. She had some more up there playing with advertising icons, but it looks like she took them down.

Norwegian girl many of us feel the same dissappointment you do. I am sure Jake had a tough decision to make. But the fact is his confidence is down right now. The Brokeback and new love glow is gone. Jake is only 26 and at this point in his life does not seem emotionally strong enough to take on the world as he said he wanted to. Critical maybe. Truthful most likely.

Mermaid, Daff has another mermaid short to the music of Arcade Fire. Have you seen that one?

Anonymous said...

I will check it out, Wicked! Thank you.

Sorry what grunge aestethic there, there is no aestethic. It is called inability to play with the software effectively. Sorry but your claim that you curated few film festivals to give credibility to your statement does not really fly with me. What a joke.
I am done with my comments, so you don't have to go nuts trying to prove you were on the Venice Film Festival panel.

Anonymous said...

God no, it wasn't Venice. I wish! But I think you're wrong, though you're welcome to your opinion. P.S. I liked the first one too, Wicked, though I preferred the second.

frenchy said...

First, I just wanted to say to Wicked that I'm really happy for the news about Sabri. It's things like these which show us that there's still hope in this world. I'll still keep him in my thoughts & prayers.

Ok, the rest of my two cents about No Country for Old Men. No spoilers I swear! :D

The story is pretty simple: guy #1 (Brolin) finds drug money and takes it. Guy #2 (Bardem) wants the dough and runs after guy #1. All along the chase Bardem regularly fills his job description without fail, which apparently is all about killing everybody in sight. He's some kind of psycho but is so cool and matter-of-factly that he's much more creepy than any obscenity-shouting and macho-posing villain. Quickly, each time Bardem shows up you fear that the poor slob who's sharing the screen with him will have to say bye-bye-cruel-world. Yet there are times when… oups! I said no spoilers! ;) ;)

I was seeing Brolin for the first time. I said he reminded me of Charles Bronson and I stand by this comparison because the movie reminded me of a Leone western, like "Once Upon a Time in the West", which I remember loving (have to watch it again though). Not because of the story, mostly the atmosphere. If you've seen this movie when you were young you probably remember Henry Fonda's character, a very efficient and creepy villain too and also Charles Bronson's determination to get his revenge. Brolin plays a welder who's fiercely determined to keep his new fortune and who proves to be quite a match to Bardem's killer.

And each time Tommy Lee Jones shows up you just have to smile. He's just great as the small town, caring sheriff who's overwhelmed by such violence but who manages to never miss a beat when it comes to understanding what's really going on although he fears deep down in his heart that he probably won't be able to stop the bloodshed.

The rest of the characters are all little gems in their own right, down to the mother-in-law who manages to be hilarious even when you just hear her voice over the phone. There are some really funny moments that catch you unguarded and the audience laughed out loud a couple of times.

BWF said the end is abrupt but it fits perfectly IMO. Just as Bardem's shows up, shoots and kills without even asking questions later (although he sometimes ask them before, but to understand you'll have to watch the movie, hey, hey!), when the story is over it's over and that's that. Take it or leave it, no apologies. It's rough, unexpected and leaves you asking "what? what?". Some may feel cheated but I think the Coens stayed true to their subject matter until the end and I applaud them for this.

One last word, "No Country for Old Men" was originally a novel by Cormac McCarthy so I don't need to add words of praise for the quality of the source. :)

Wicked said...

Mermaid- I agree, I like both but like the second one better.

Frenchy- No Country for Old Men sounds really good. I want to see that and Ang Lee's new one.

New love glow is gone? Please. He seems very happy and contented in those Napa shots with Reese. No one put a gun to his head. He's doing this happily and willingly. Check out his body language in those pics. Bleech. No sympathy here for that wuss.

^^You got a name to go with that opinion, Anon? ;)

Thanks for the info on No Country for Old Men, Frenchy. Love the Coen Brothers and their dark humor; Fargo and O Brother Where Art Thou are two of films theirs that I loved. They have a uniqui4 There are a lot of good movies coming up. Can't wait to see it. I want to see Lust, Caution too, the previews were breathtaking.

Gah, I'm still reeling from that Massive Attack song from yesterday. Took my breath away and so erotic it left me weak. It would be great in a movie or something. It's got a "pursuing" feel to it or something. Gotta say too that I like today's song, but prefer the Steve Winwood version. :)

Anonymous said...

^^sorry, that should read - they have a unique humor. :)

"Jake .... does not seem emotionally strong enough to take on the world as he said he wanted to."

The past nine months have been very difficult for him. I also remember watching Jake handle the kinds of homophobic slurs and insults that would make most macho Hollywood actors melt into a puddle of sweat.

Jake is one of the most courageous actors around. He's a tough guy, through and through.

He's human, not weak. Once he recharges his batteries in NM, he'll be fine.

I can't wait for Brothers, or Oscar season. Rendition and Zodiac might surprise a few people.

Just popping in. Has anyone else noticed that since Reese received not such great comments on the Napa love trip she was seen and photographed with the kids this weekend. No Jake in sight.

No necklace with rings attached either.

The "proposal" story was def. a plant by the way not made up by the NE. It was floated for reaction purposes.

I wrote that message, and I am as anti-Reeke as it gets. Watch it.

For some bizarre reason, practically everything said here is twisted into pro-or anti-Reeke, or pro-Austin/anti-Austin.

I am pro-Jake, a bi/gay, A-List male actor with more b**** than most of his peers, and I suspect most of his fans. He isn't the first actor to beard, and he won't be the last. And he didn't make the rules in HW. He just has to live with them, unlike most of his fans.

When and if he comes out of the closet, I will be the first person to applaud, but as someone who has dealt with the brutal realities of the closet myself, I'm not going to blame the victim. And Jake is the victim.

He is not Hitler, Roy Cohn, Hoover, Jim West, Mark Foley or Rev. Haggard. And he's more pro-gay, and taken more flack for being NCS/bi/gay than many famous gay people, including Andrew Sullivan, Jody Foster, Pete Williams, Cynthia Nixon and Anderson Cooper.

Some of us remember Jake before Nichols and Witherspoon entered the picture, before we started playing the game of defining Jake by who he spends time with.

Jake is more than the person he vacations with, is paired with for PR purposes or is photographed with.

That's the home I hope he returns to after Brothers is done. And for the time being, no one should be in that home besides Jake, his immediate family and his best friend Chris.

Ted's new post now up. His mood seems a bit off, maybe from being away a few days. Only one brief mention of Toothy in an indirect way, but he replies that there are clues in the "And it's not" as well. I guess we knew that. I think he is saying the last toothy blind vice has a meaningful clue. I looked at the 3 and it's not listed, but no clue as to what they represent.

10.59, Are you from Jake's PR? trying to repair the immeasureable damage done by Reeke? Going to be a looong hard task ahead....he dumped his unique fanbase for an amazing beard, really like to see how that is going to be explained away. If Jake chooses to stay in the closet, that's fine by me. But to beard is wrong whichever way you look at it.

Would be nice if someone could express an opinion which is slightly deviating from the standard 'Yuk Reeke the beard' without being pigeon holed immediately
