Wu Tang Wallabe or Wanna Be

High end British shoemaker C. and J. Clark Ltd, better known as Clarks, creates classic shoes including the Wallabe, which have received homage by Method Man and Ghostface Killah of the Wu-Tang Clan and in their songs. Ghostface Killah has put the Wallabe on the cover of his album, Ironman.

So the question is Austin giving a shout out to Wu-Tang with his footwear. Or is he just a wannabe trying to pass with Clarks Desert boots?

Whatever you gotta suspect that Austin's got a little something for the Wu-Tang. With being a Don an all.

Heading out on a Red Sox road trip... So I will be posting from the road. Unless I get hauled out of Citizen's Park for fighting with Phillie's fans. : )

So I will say it before we hit the road -- GO CELTS! BEAT LA!

Mexican Sunrise, Thanks for the link to Austin's sister and brother-in-law on the previous thread. And thanks, ag, for pointing out that Austin's father is pictured in the worldfest gallery photos (photo #16). Austin's sister is very pretty and I can see a little bit of Austin in his father. There's also another photo of Austin's sister in the worldfest gallery - photo #8.

I'm back to real life, haven't had time to catch up on all the posts I missed while I was gone. Nice to come back to some pictures of Austin. :-)

Some have seen this already. If you haven't it's funny.

I am slowly catching up on the posts I missed. I love the Milch school of driving one Special. And I would love it if we could have a JFC post, like the movie club.

Funny to see the story on Sophia on the heels of the other one. A corrective story, so to speak?

Can someone link to the pic of Austin's dad?

To see Austin's dad:

Click here, then click on galleries in the bottom right hand corner of the page, then click on the WorldFest link on the left of the page, then go to photo #16

Jake, Ryan and Reese all up for Teen Choice Awards. Jake and Reese for Rendition and Ryan for Stop-Loss. Does anyone else find this puzzling? Teen Choice Awards

Anonymous said...

Teens and Rendition? What a joke.

Anonymous said...

anonymous at 3:43 is Teen Choice. Forgot to use my name.

Also interesting point posted on WFT2:

Rendition and Stop-Loss are both rated R. The Teen Choice voters are supposed to be 13-19 year old teenagers. Anyone under 17 is not allowed into an R-rated movie without a parent or guardian. Something is off here.

Teens saw and actually care about Rendition and Stop-Loss?

Anonymous said...

Of course not. Who chooses the nominees?

Welcome back destiny :)

I love Austin's boots but I don't think I'd call Clarks high end. Middle end, maybe :)

Maybe they're high end in the US london. More high street in the UK (but very sensible, comfy and reasonably priced I find).

Have to say I'm loving the high density of Austin here recently, you can never have enough Austy photos / news I think.

Why not?
Here is some statistics for your info.
No. of US casualties in Iraq between ages 18-19 for 2008:
Jun: 3
May: 1
Apr: 2
Mar: 0
Feb: 2
Jan: 1
Teenagers are giving up their lives in Iraq. And in your opinion they would not find Rendition and Stop-Loss relevant? Please don't do this at OMG just to make Jake look bad.

We are talking about 13-19 year old teenagers. I sincerely believe they don't care about movies like Rendition and Stop-Loss.

Anonymous said...

:) - those numbers at 7:24 are for 18 and 19 year old teenagers. Due to obvious reasons, numbers are not available for 13 - 17 year olds. I don't get your line of argument, but I guess we just have to agree to disagree.

Anonymous said...

I'm just saying that teenagers didn't watch Rendition and Stop-Loss.

Rendition $9,283,593 (USA)
Stop-Loss $10,891,554 (USA)

Anonymous said...

:) - I still don't get your line of argument - would it be possible for you to give me a breakdown of those $$$ by age - that might throw some light on the point that you are trying to convey. If not, I am calling it a day. Thank you for the conversation.

I agree I have no clue why Jake or Ryan were nominated for Rendition or Stop Loss. I cant believe many teenagers spent money to see these movies. Jake and Ryan are in the rag mags a lot lately. Both are young and cute. Both are single or at least anyone with a brain knows Jake is single. I dont think anyone at OMG is trying to make Jake look bad by saying teenagers did not see these movies..

I think Rendition and Stop-Loss nominations have nothing to do with teenagers and great acting.

It's for PR purposes, so that they could write crap like this:

Ryan Phillippe and Jake Gyllenhaal: Reese Witherspoon's men compete at Teen Choice Awards

Teen People aims to be the definitive voice of youth culture. Published ten times a year with two newsstand special editions, Teen People's guaranteed circulation is 1.45 million. An AOL Time Warner property, it is the adolescent version of People magazine. (as of 2005)

Does this mean we can assume that Teen People is the source of the nominations?

Stretching It
Let’s have a moment of silence for the end of one of H’wood’s golden couples—shimmering, as far as their hair is concerned, anyway. Blondies Reese Witherspoon and Ryan Phillippe are officially and totally divorced as of this week, tho both parties really, in their hearts (and other sweaty locales), had jumped ship before they separated back in '06.
Both R&R appear more than okeydoke with the way things turned out—but we bet Reesikins has def been declared the winner in this battle of the exes. Ry’s got his poor-man’s Reese replacement, Aussie Abbie Cornish, while Witherbabe possesses two of the most coveted men in H’wood: Oscar and Jake Gyllenhaal. The Gyllenspork (are these verbal fusings making you puke as much as we are, yet?) guy ‘n’ gal are still going, against all odds, par-tick all over Hell-Ay. In fact, guess how the amour babes celebrated Reesie’s Big D? Romantic din din at Cut, full of love-nothing’s and well-done proclamations for each other? A night of naughty lovemaking up at the Madonna Inn? Nope.
Yoga. Yeah, R dragged her buff beau to a stretch class at Santa Monica’s YogaHop on a Saturday afternoon. Is this how the supposedly sexiest duo in T-town really breaks a sweat? Either that or she couldn’t stand a single second (or photo op) away from her fella. Our sly exercising source said the celebs, each with their own personal yoga mat, were supercute together, with R.W. keeping Jakey-boy as comfortable as possible for his first yoga class at this peaceful place.
The adorable dolls did their best downward-facing dogs and lotus poses without any PDAs and slipped out early, prolly to avoid the after-class crowd. Wouldn’t be surprised if the BFF babes hightailed it over to the mall for a facial and matching mani-pedi makeovers.

Ted's "sly" excercising source: Tay, tay from this blog:

http://myfavshiz.blogspot.com/2008/06/couple-that-does-yoga-together-stays.html

Of course it was already posted here along with the People blurb. He or I sould say his intern don't even bother trying anymore. From the notation of the personal yoga mats that was noted here (Jake is a clean freak, admits to showering several times a day and wearing socks with flip flops when you really should be barefoot for this)
to the fake that she was an expert and he a novice to them leaving early, lifted from this blog, that I'm sure was on Becky's google alert. The only dif: tay said that they were so in love he says no pda which is silly, during a yoga class?? And of course the caty remark about facials, please Jake hasn't gone for a facial since his days with Kiki I bet.

If Ted and his intern don't have any thing to say regarding them and have to gleam from other blogs they need to claim their sourceBlogs, people or just don't even bother.

PS: And please don't say that he had a seperate source, also she was officially divorced last Oct., they already "celebrated" in Oct. in Rome.

For those who like numbers, I would like to lead them to this link - a Movie Attendance study conducted by Motion Picture Association of America (it is a PDF file).

Some of the highlights are:
1. There were 1.47 billion US admissions, led by ticket purchases among 12-24 year olds who represented 38% of all admissions.
2. In 2007, there were 48 million movie-goers between age 12 to 24.
3.Amongst all teens, 43% of frequent moviegoers are 16 or 17.
4. Although 12-24 year olds represent 22% of the total population of US, they represent 41% of all frequent moviegoers.

I can see teens going to Stop Loss, since the promos had a sort of MTV vibe to them. But Rendition? Let's see, torture, alan arkin, meryl streep. I don't think so. Very weird nomination, someone got paid off for that one.

I know some here really like Rendition, but it did nothing for me nor did Jake's performance in it. I view everything through BBM colored glasses. His performance there set the bar. If the only Jake film I ever saw was Rendition, I'd be asking everyone what the big deal was.

Sounds like Ted has the babblers backed against the wall. He wont back down.

Rendition did not get nominated in the Drama category. The nominations in the "Drama" category are:
21, Stop-Loss, Into the Wild, August Rush and Step Up 2: The Streets

The nominated actors in the "Drama" category are:
Ryan Phillipe - Stop-Loss
Channing Tatum - Stop-Loss
Emile Hirsch - Into The Wild
Jake Gyllenhaal - Rendition
Mark Wahlberg - We Own The Night

What was the criterion? You tell me.

Wheeeee! Congrats Celtics! Can't wait to see the new banner up in the rafters of the Garden! :)

Re the drama acting noms, I find it odd that Joe Gordon Levitt did not get nominated for Stop Loss. Maybe 3 actors for one film was going too far.

Congrats to the Celtic fans. As a Californian I was rooting for the Lakers, but oh well.

M: Information overload :)
From a wikipedia link:

Not a whole lot of choice for teens! For those of you that like to watch the credits roll, did you notice the paragraph at the end of the Teen Choice Awards? Above you’ll see that not one teen selected the final winner. In fact, the winners were chosen from the top four vote getters in each category by Teenasaurs Rox and Ultimate Choice and Red Carpet Icon Awards were determined solely by the producers. If you ever wondered if a show like this was fixed… the answer is YES.

"If you ever wondered if a show like this was fixed… the answer is YES."

It's starting to look like alot of things in Phonywood are "fixed" or just outright made up : (

Fun music today. I hadnt heard a Wu Tang song in ages.

Those shoes are definately not a fashion statement but they sure look comfortable.

If the noms were real you'd expect someone like the Juno girl or the High School Musical kids to feature, wouldn't you? The teens who went for Reese are in their thirties now.

Cmon now, you think Jake is single?
:D
