Austin in Italy. Sounds like he got his trip to Italy that he mentioned during last year's PR tour for JFC. But who's to say this is the first time he's been to Italy, or Europe for that matter. And if not in person, definitely through his cine-files. How could he not.
He has mentioned in interviews Italian films and those of the films of the mid century, and their fashion sense. Although hard to imagine his brother in law, looking at Italian fashion or accessories. But you can see Austin looking at the markets and little stores for vintage tie bars, cuff links, watches and super skinny ties. Wandering around the cities, watching people, grabbing a bite, or sipping a cappuccino, glass of wine watching the rhythms of the cities or towns as they move through the piazza. Sighting and recalling places from the movies he's seen and how the director's filmed it.
And with his brother in law as a director it would be interesting to hear what they would have to say. How they would look at a space in terms of how to shoot it or how the light reflects here or how it was done before.
No doubt Austin has been hitting his movie files and DVDs. Bertolucci, Antonioni, Rossellini, Zeffirelli, Benigni. And how could two boys from Texas not watch and discuss Sergio Leone and spaghetti westerns. Then of course how could you call yourself a cinephile and not watch Fellini. 8 1/2 has been in that DVD player plenty.

Right now I have images of Austin in a super skinny suit riding a Vespa, with that bad boy grin he gets, with eyes hidden behind some cool dark shades. Rowdy just shaking his head and looking at his shoes wonder, how did I ever end up letting him taking me into these.
Looked over on IMDB and Austin is now listed in the cast of Prayers for Bobby. Looks like he has significant role since it looks like he is listed as a principal. No name for his character yet.

Re the concert pic of Reeke- I have never seen less chemistry from an alleged couple in my life. She looks totally disinterested. Wonder why he keeps wearing that hoodie. He showed the hair in the horse pics so why hide it backstage where theoretically noone could see them - his subconsious is at work again, hiding. Also, how did that photographer get the picture so well lit in the recesses backstage.
It's funny how that works, M, isn't it? People who are looking for chemistry, see it. Those that aren't, don't.
If you look at the rest of that person's photos of the event, it appears the stage is well lit which I guess would illuminate the backstage/sidestage areas. I don't think it's any big conspiracy or anything.
How can you gage chemistry from that blurry pic and see that she is disinterested? Even in it's blurred stage he has his arms wrapped around her and she has her hand over his.
He was working during the horse pic, not on set but taking lessons with other cast members. It would look kind of silly if he wore the hoodie over his riding helmet. The wearing of the hoodie is consistant with the Virgin air sighting and a few blog sightings. Hiding from what? Flight attendents? Bloggers that may spot them In Notting hill? Maybe but most likely he was told by Disney to try and keep the "look" undercover while not working.
If you read the comments on the flicker sight under the pic, you wil see that Jack Johson himself took the picture,not only is he a musician but a filmaker as well so I guess he knows how to take pics.

This new Reeke pic was posted here after being found on the Babblers by UV. How was she able to find it on someone's private blog? Maybe she got a head's up?

It is someone's public flickr account, and Jack Johnson never took the pic, it's the person's account name, JacobJohanson or something. I like JJs song If I Had Eyes (In The Back of My Head).
It's hard to see because its blurry, but it looks like J has his arms around Reese, kissing the side of her face, perhaps swaying to the music together. One would hope, anyway, some kind of natural looking romantic couple pic for once. Why the hoodie? To keep the look under wraps, I would imagine. Glad to know that Austin will be going to Italy. I agree, he had mentioned he had wanted to. :)
I don't think they're taken by Jack Johnson. The name on the photo account is JakobJohansson and the language of the captions is foreign (I'm not very good at deciphering any language other than English, tho, I'm afraid! I can't tell what language this is). And it appears that this may be the first time this Jakob has uploaded any pictures. At least it's the first posting for 2008. I got onto Flicr.com and checked into this person's site.
I'm not trying to read anything into the picture that does/doesn't exist. It's just kind of different that it looks like they're taken backstage or something, not out in the crowd. And I do agree, m, on your comment on the hoodie. Maybe he's self-concious about the hair (altho I think it looks hot on him) length or he just doesn't want to be recognized. But sometimes, subconciously, we do hide behind sunglasses, hats, tinted car windows, baggy clothes, and body art. I'm not saying it's a bad thing at all, but just a sign of hiding something or perhaps shyness. And no, I'm not saying that applies in this instance to Mr G, I'm just sayin! Geez, before someone jumps all over that.....

And now just to say one more thing before I go back to RL, eventually, (which may be sooner than expected if Jake accompanies his sister to the big TDK premiere in NYC) these 2 are going to at least have to face some questions regarding their relationship. Most likely not until fall when he goes to promoting Brothers, tho. And unless an engagement precedes that, then I would expect the questions to come up on Regis & Kelly, Jon Stewart, whatever in the heck shows he appears on. And if this J&R tour continues up to that point with no engagement on the horizon and there are no relationship questions allowed, then by gosh, something has got to be up. How could you not admit that? And if he does address it and say he's head over heels and she's the one and his dog loves her dog and her kids love him and he loves them, then so be it. I will rest. But until he spews it out of his own mouth, looking the person straight in the eye, I have serious doubts.

All derisive comments aside, if this is what happens, it's enough for me and I'll accept it and drop it. I cannot be continually looking for alterior motives, and I don't care if there are any. I thought J&A were together, and I still do, but having my doubts. If they do address it, it's enough for me and I'll take him at his word, and just enjoy his work.

I suspect that they already have. There are, I suspect, deep, shall we say, asymmetries in this collaboration (ala Will and Grace), and perhaps they are trying to keep a wrap on things until it's safe to start cooling things off *publicly*. Quite honestly this is one of the best pieces of gossip I have heard in the past six months. I actually heard about it on Friday and was so jazzed by it that I almost posted over the weekend because I didn't want to wait until today.
These A+ list female film actresses (when I say A+, there is no wishy washy, they are A+) are really different, but they do have one very big thing in common. A woman. That's right. While one of the A+ listers is no stranger to women, the other A+ lister is, or would have the world believe she is. However, each of our A+ listers separately spent several months with a woman who must be magnificent or beautiful or extremely talented in the bedroom to attract the interest of these A+ listers. The only thing these two A+ listers have in common is the huge amount of money they get for making films. The fact that these two completely different personalities and looks could both fall for the same woman just boggles the mind. That, and the fact that at least one of the A+ listers has never shown a propensity to spend time with the same team. This one blew me away.
