More PoP to Ponder

Is this the real Prince Dastan? Actually is it the first Prince. No this is not like the Russian history story of the False Dimitri and the Czars of Russian. This is world of games vs. movies. Yuri Lowenthal is the man most have heard in their games, and his biggest role was the Prince of Persia Sands of Time. He was not cast in the voice in the sequel Warrior Within but from fans was brought back as the Prince in the third game Warrior Within.

Now Jake is cast as the Prince for the movie but Yuri would like to be a part of something he voiced. For many he is the prince. Gamers are asking for help. "What you do not know is that Yuri has been trying to get a small role, or even a cameo in the film, but has had no luck as of yet. It may be too late to help, but that doesn't mean we (the gaming community) shouldn't at least try. I am asking that you post on forums, send a letter (or email) to the studio, or sign the petition that I started. Anything is better than nothing and this man deserves all the support in the world."
Check out more about this and the petition in the gamers community here.

Is there room for two princes in this picture?

And not to stop the PoPing today. Here is an interview with director Mike Newell about his vision of PoP. An adventure romance. Michael Bay was previously attached to PoP and would have made a very different movie. But you really can't explode a lot in 6th century Persia. But with Newell you can see the direction Bruckhemier was heading. Big adventure for the gamers, men, and kids, but a romantic storyline for women. Newell has done some great love stories as it were, and has handled big productions as well. You can see shades of Lawrence of Arabia, not trying to match the classic but the influences of it woven into the adventure. Everyone says this is going to be big, and from the sounds it is coming with the bigger expectations.

Seems like Jake has swept many of his fans off their feet in the past. Can he do it again as the dashing and daring prince?

Is it just me or can you see Newell set up a shot where Jake on the white charger reaches down and pulls Gemma up one armed and over onto his horse, in the middle of erupting chaos.

I really can't see Bay even trying to do this. What would he explode? A camel? There are only so many oil lamps that can break and fire to rip through tents and market places.

I do hope they can find a something for Yuri even in the smallest way.

I thought so too Wicked a kind of geeky Gosling. And that is not a bad thing. ; )

OMG - you outdid yourself again with today's song, and band. I thought about it immediately when I read about your line about the "two princes". Cute pic, he does look a bit like Ryan Gosling, which isn't such a bad thing. ;)

The thought of Bay doing this movie makes me shudder. And you'd think they'd find a way to use the second prince, but I'm not going to get started on that topic again. :-)

Jake mentioned in a list of 5 actors for Phelps movie. (Mere speculation but you know its gonna happen come on!) Five for Phelps

I would like to think Jake would mention he has a friend who has the water seniority, LAS and ears to do Phelps better than him.

Jake and Olympic swimming makes me think of this.

Men's Synchronized Swimming

Why?
1. Christopher Guest his Godmother's (Jamie Lee Curtis) husband discovering Corky St. Clair before he Waited for Guffman.

2. Childhood Neighbor Martin Short

3. And you can picture Jake's putting that those jazz hands moves to work next time on Conan.

" I'm not that strong of a swimmer"
" Working with them has given me a goose, if I can use that expression"
" Hey you. I know you. I know you "

Special K said...

^This is a shorter clip of the original that was on Saturday Night Live. The longer version they go under the water line marked on the mirror in the dance studio and jump up up up out of the water. And Martin Short does his best dance on the pool deck as intro of their routine. Now that I can see Jake doing.

Video of Reese in Brentwood

They ask her how Jake is and she doesn't answer. The interesting thing is that the caption says she hits the car behind her getting out of the parking spot. I didn't see that in the video. If you see it, at a what point in the video is it?

Anonymous said...

so. she doesnt know how to park. I coulda told you that.

She also hits the car behind her in this video

You really need to stop doing this Special, it's starting to get creepy. I happened to watch that very same video just yesterday.

"Working with them has given me a goose" sounds like it could come from Jake when talking about working on TDAT, don't you think? ;)

So sorry for no OMG Olympic moment today. I did realize it until I was on the way home. (I know I've been on the blog today and still didn't realize it - duh!)

So a twofer Tuesday OMG Olympic tomorrow.

Short visit as I will be soon be off to meet a new, prospective dogsitting family. A puppy lab/terrior mix named Sammie. We'll see if I pass the test.

What year was this song? Giminy's, I couldn't believe it when I heard this song - they used to play it endlessly on the radio and I never have known what the title of it was. LOL! Now I'll think of POP everytime I hear it.

Wicked, don't put it past me to come up there, serious. I have wanted to visit for years. I can't believe you haven't seen some of the majors, though. Altho, as ignorant native pointed out this morning, yeah, there's some I haven't seen around here. Haven't seen the Truman library in years & years. Now, ask about sports stadiums & yeah, I've been there, lolll!! NYC is my other dream place to go. You'd think with 5 weeks+ of vacation time, I could get there. : )

OMG Reese: she stuffs her m0uth, she shops and shd doesnt know how to park.

How to graciously interpret this woman? dont ask me! I throw up my hands!

prairiegirl said...

Hey, so did Reese go to the Britney Spears School of driving, is that what I'm hearing???

Special, I made a big mistake in starting D Darko this morning while trying to get ready for work. That first scene of his lil butt on the bike just about had me backing up into my furniture & causing an accident. Then the discussion @ the dinner table, lol!! You know, he probably would've been great in a TV comedy like Malcolm in the Middle. He did a great job as a child/teen actor. I had to stop it - I just wanted to see how it started out and already was getting wrapped up in it.

hey PG it's a well scripted film and Jake does a great job. Watch the extras! both on the theatre version and the directors cut.

prairiegirl said...

Yeah, I can't wait. I don't know why I haven't watched it before. The big bunny thing kind of weirded me out.

hey, you better ID yourself or you're goig to get deleted, Anon!!

sorry! Im Jayna!

pg the "big bunny" is a symbol of "the artist" rabbits and fertility, all that.

DD is alot of very young guys gettin' it on and off - so much FUN! oh if only youth was forever!

destiny said...

All of those talk of DD has me feeling very nostalgic and longing for indie Jake. DD has so much going on in it that I never get tired of watching it. I doubt I'm going to feel that way about PoP.

Very funny about Reese's driving.

Special K said...

DD is complex. Many viewing to find the whole story, all themes and meanings.

The sacrifice of one, seen flawed by world, for the good of all.

Jake's performance is simply stunning.

prairiegirl said...

Ooh, the sacrifice of one, seen flawed by world, for the good of all. Man,that is heavy. I'll say it's complex!! But I can't get enough of watching it. Bad, bad older brother. And Maggie is beautiful in it. Her & Jake arguing @ the dinner table was so realistic.

you're goig to get deleted, Anon!!

TYPO! goig = going
You can tell I had one leg out the door, lol! Thanks, Jayna, for the tips. That rabbit is UGLY! Yeah, that conversation about the Smurfs was hilarious. And oh my dog, Donnie on the therapist's couch. She claps her hands pronto! I had to stop it because I knew I couldn't finish it before lights out.

I understand what you're saying, too, Destiny. There's something very special about watching films that are risky. Based on true stories. Or on small budgets where you know the actors are there because they love what they do. Or movies that have something to say, something strong. You know, maybe he'll go back to that. : )

Nite, all! Sweet dreams. l -o

prairiegirl said...

Ha! One more thought. Actually, you know, he has done his fair share of small indie films, right? And October Sky was just excellent, I thought. Sometimes, I"m sure they want to also do a film that's just fun, although filming in 100 degree heat, I'm sure, was not part of the original thought process of F-U-N. I know that comment is liable to be subjected to being jumped on, that it's all about the $. And so part of it may be. Maybe part of it is the desire to be a part of a "big" movie. Don't most actors want that? If they didn't have an ego, they wouldn't be in the business.

destiny said...

I have no problem with someone doing a big fun picture. RDJ and Depp have done it. It's the seeming selling of the soul to do PoP that bothers me. Just doesn't seem like it'd be worth it at the end of the day.

destiny said...

Just watched the Synchronized Swimming video. Very funny.

Who knows, maybe he's realizing that inside now. The thing is, he's starting to get old enough to start realizing these things. When you're 21 though, most people don't have that maturity. Depends also on your inner support group, your upbringing, your inner faith, your inner convictions & strength.

Surprised I didn't have a nightmare of that rabbit last night.

But, hey, Destiny? Remember to throw my words back at me the next time Reeke does something over the top & I go off on another tangent, ok?
: )

Have a good day @ work today, everyone

okay the next time reeke goes over the top i'll remind you about the rabbit

Wicked, don't put it past me to come up there, serious.

Why don't you get in touch and we can plan it?

oh if only youth was forever!

Oh if only we didn't live in a culture that worshiped youth and failed to embrace the wonder of all the other life stages. We will all either die or get older, so we might as well appreciate and honor the beauty of aging.

Reese is driving Jake's car in that TMZ video.

I dunno what others think but I find Yuri Lowenthal quite attractive. I'd do him. In fact at this point with smarmy Jake and his idiotic Reeke I'd rather do Yuri than Mr G.

Ew.com has a November release date for “The informers”

PopWatch Previewer

It’s still mighty toasty outside, but the fall movie season is already revving up with trailers for Oscar bait (Rachel Getting Married, starring Anne Hathaway, pictured), prestige pics (The Informers), and box-office hopefuls (Quarantine and Role Models, starring Paul Rudd, pictured). Check out the clips and let us know if any of them will get you in the theaters.

THE INFORMERS (Warning: NSFW trailer)

November

Plot: You tell me. Judging by the loosely connected scenes of sex, drugs, and self-hatred, my guess is it’s a pitch-black ensemble drama.
Looks like: I Loathe the 80’s, Brett Easton Ellis-style.
Verdict: It might be set during the Reagan administration, but Informers’ cast is straight out of 1994, with Billy Bob Thornton, Winona Ryder, Kim Basinger, Mickey Rourke, and Brad Renfro all sharing the screen. (My colleague Sean Howe points out that even Chris “Wicked Game” Isaak has a part, so fingers crossed for an uncredited Heather Graham cameo). Even so, the promise of bad hair and great New Order tunes is almost enough to get me in the theater. Almost.
