Every picture tells a story

Sometimes a picture tells a story. Can you see any clues to JFC from the mural?

Only a week to get read for OMG's JFC discussion group. Discussion will be 5:00pm EST Friday, September 19th and throughout the day Saturday, September 20th.

Want to check out the mind of Milch as a writer and creator? Watch this lecture/talk/workshop/extemporaneous commentary Milch did at a Writer's Guild Association gathering.

The Idea of the Writer

The talk from December 12th gives a lot of insight. (NSFW - language this is Milch we're talking about )
Milch December 12th part 1
Milch December 12th part 2

If y0u have the time and interest check out the whole series.

And for the first episode of JFC - don't forget to listen to the commentary, more clues to figuring out what is going on.

But don't forget Kem Nunn. JFC wouldn't have had a surf setting with out the surf noir writer. (Tijuana Straits) While Nunn, didn't get writing credits until the second half of the episodes, he was a collaborator and producer with Milch on the project from the very beginning.

Here's an interview (check out the podcasts in the middle of the page) with Nunn, talking about writing surfing and influences.

And of course all this Toothy talk in September you can't help remember these pictures.

I love those coffee pics!
I always have to wonder what Jake was telling Austin there, since he has such a naughty grin on his face.

Good morning!! Criminetley's, been driving up & down trying to find a Wi Fi outlet. McD's had a leaky roof; it just keeps raining and raining and raining.
LOL, Chloe crouches outside by the door as soon as she hears the pinging of rain. But I get the leash & baggies out? She's there! Now tell me, what is the difference between stepping out the back door (altho with the shock collar on, gee, could that be it?) and putting the leash on and going for a jaunt down the puddled sidewalk, getting rained on the entire way??? She's such a good girl, tho. I'm so lucky to be able to watch such good dogs. We had tornadoes all around us last night. I was trapped downstairs in the basement with Harry Met Sally on cable.

Sorry to have missed the movie discussion yesterday. I liked the music in Moulin Rouge (and can Ewan McGregor sing? Oh, man, I love The Elephant Love Song, or whatever it's called. That was brilliant and beautifully done by Ewan and Nicole.) but I hated the ending. I've never seen Once or Room with a View.

I'll have to get going on my JFC re-watching. I've been watching my Netflix movies. I'm Not There is coming, I can't wait.

I can't linger too long here; Panera's gives you a speal about please not hogging a table if their business gets busy and I can understand that.

My heart goes out to the people in Texas. We're all tired of this rain here, but it's nothing compared to what they're going through. We had deliveries supposed to be going to Texas but got emails saying their employees were all bailing ship; shutting down & not to deliver til next week.

Boy, Ted sure seems to be on a tear. I'll have to take more time to read tonight when I get home. I love the pictures today. Lookit how young they look. Geez, how they've changed.

Wanna send special hellos to Kacie! And to Destiny! And to m! And to Tom! And to Clarity, Jayna, & LondonTB! My job is allconsuming right now and will be til the end of the year. And my dogpeople are all traveling left & right. Boy, gas goes down .50 and everyone's calling. But I'm grateful & thankful. One more week & I get a rest. Yes, the Big V is coming up again.

Big hugs to the two TopDogs of this house, and that's Special and Wicked. You two are keeping us going through thick & thin; keeping the wheels going even though the road gets a little rough or dark. Or with some orange barrels & cones thrown in, LOL!!
Anyway, love you 2.

You all have a great Saturday; I've got to get back & make sure I don't have any "presents" waiting for me back at the house.

I'm glad to hear nothing bad happened.

Hi PG, glad to hear you survived the bad weather.

I can't wait to discuss JFC, I hope lots of people are going to watch and join in.

J&A do seem like they've aged a lot in the past year or two, especially Jake. I think Austin looks hotter than ever, but Jake often looks tired and unhappy, which imo makes him look old in a bad way.

I agree, Destiny. Jake was looking as if he were carrying the burdens of the world upon his shoulders.

"Boy, you're gonna carry that weight, a long time. . ."

Hoping that PoP will help all these guys in the film get in touch with their inner twelve year olds and Jake will return rejuvinated.

Hope he enjoyed reading "The Once and Future King" . . . !

Thanks for the shoutout PrairieGirl. My job too is making it hard for me to keep up with Jake these days, but I am giving up sleep so I don't get too far behind.

Lovely to see these pics again. Jake is so relaxed when he is with Austin. They display such harmony. And Austin is wearing the blue ring. Too bad we can't see more of them.

Saw a teaser for Parnassus on ONTD. Looks like a very imaginative film.

Hey PG. You scared me. I thought I had missed the JFC discussion but I see its next week. I've been out all day. I have to watch the first episode again to get ready for next week. I'm Not There was pretty good. I think you'll like it.

M please post the link for Parnassus when you get a chance. I'd love to see it.

Hope everyone had a good Saturday : )

Well all the fam in TX went up to Dallas and parts north. The fam in KC were doing the same thing Prairie Girl was doing sitting in the basement. Everyone safe.

Yeah both Jake and Austin have grown up so much in the past couple of years. As Ted would say parenthood can do that. Both have had some tired and rough looks
over the past year. Tired eyes from both, Jake is looking more serious, and Austin hair showing a gray(!) hair or two. But love how they look together and how in sync they are. No one bring out the smile in Jake like Austin can.

Yeah, Jake has that naughty grin on his face and you can tell read how happy he is, it just shines through. Austin playing cool, but giving himself away with his straw. ; )

Now Ben A's got a wig for a new movie.

I wonder if they just get a group rate for all of them. If it comes as a free gift with purchase? Maybe they got a buy one get one free deal on them?

Hey, you all, guess what I saw On Demand today - Once! LOL! Was just talking about that this morning, I can't believe it. And the way it started out was just like this music video that VH1 played over & over & over this past winter. In fact, if I remember right, that theme song won the Oscar for Best Song this year. It was indeed a romantic movie; not much action at all, but rather just a very slow tale of 2 people falling in love. I won't tell anymore in case anyone watches it. But a funny thing about it is there's no names to any of the people. In the closing credits, everyone just has a generic name like "Guy" "Girl", "Girl's mom", "guy in music store", etc etc. It's the darndest thing.

Hey PG. You scared me. I thought I had missed the JFC discussion but I see its next week.

LOL! Clarity, were you the one who watched Priscilla Queen of the Desert when it was supposed to be um, I forget which one now. The first movie, I think it was. That was funny. : D

Whaaa???? Grey hair? NOOooooo, on Austin? Really? He's way too young to be getting any of that. Cripes, he must stress easily. Or maybe it's genetic. Ha, I typed generic at first! I know I'm using alot of !!'s tonight; and no, I'm not sauced. I just feel pretty sparked, I don't know why. Can't control my lol's.

Hey, m, are you reading In Plain Sight?

Back to the grey hair for a minute; if there indeed is a BT, that could very well explain the few strands. Man, kids'll do that. Look at Brad Pitt. That guy has really changed. Actually, I think Austin is really hitting his stride in his looks. He's matured into quite the looker. Jake, I'm not quite so sure. I tend to agree with you, Destiny, he's matured in not as good a way. But maybe while he's in Morrocco w/o AvonLady those tired lines have been naturally ironed out. Funny - where'd the paps go? Reese is there for a weekend and the paps are documenting her every single whereabout; she's back in the States and we get nothing on Jake.

One last thing I forgot to comment about this morning was I was glad to see Ted seeming to hint at Austin in his answers. I've also read some comments elsewhere about people thinking Chris is TT's better half, but I tend not to think so. There's too much chemistry going on between Jake & Austin in their pictures. And one really last thing. Is Austin really that much taller than Jake? These 2 pics really make it look like Austin is about 4 inches or so taller. I didn't think Jake was that short. Isn't he supposed to be 6' ? I still can't get over how young they look here. Jake looks like Donnie Darko.

Sorry for the long post; didn't think I really had that much to say, but it kinda kept spewing out. Glad the tornadoes are over with but yes, it is still raining. Geez, I had no idea it was so late. I gotta hit the hay. What a short night.

I always figured Austin rounded down on his height--something confirmed when we found out his driver's license lists him as 6'3 (IMDB has him as 6'2), and Jake I suspect rounds up from 5'11 to 6--hence a 4 inch difference, which is what it has always looked like to me too.

I've been thinking about those backdrops in the first pictures, I have no idea how they fit in, but I'm sure they're supposed to be clues, probably to things that we would have seen if there had been another season.

prairiegirl said...

Dang, 6'3". That's pretty tall. And he is proportioned just right.

I know I said I was signing off, but I was catching up on LiveJournal reading. Now all of a sudden, it's going on 2330. I feel like I'm weeks behind in everything online.

The only thing I'm not quite looking forward to in re-watching JFC is that screaming of Rebecca DeMornay's. Man, she pretty much got on my last nerves with her constant yelling. That'd drive any kid out of the house. Now that I think about the younger boy in JFC and all the surfing, it reminds me of the beginning of Lords of the Dogtown. I loved Heath in his wetsuit and Austin sure looked great in his. Those things are phenomenal looking on a guy.

Ok, now I'm really hittin the hay.

Good catch on the JFC/Lords of Dogtown comparison. The similarities are pretty striking.

I think the JFC conversation will be pretty interesting. I thought it was an intriguing show but also had some major flaws. I'm glad Austin (and Jake) will have new projects also for us to discuss in the coming months. Its been a while...

Prairie girl, I have not read In plain sight. Still on my list to get to. The DC forum slash discussion this week mentioned works "Not taking no for an answer", "When the snow didnt come" and "Big Boots of Pain". I like completed works, less patience for installments. I'm on the third and longest story now. Can't put it down.

Comments are so right about how Jake has aged recently. Stress, stress and more stress.

Anonymous said...

Watched Milch. He's really smart and really nuts.

prairiegirl said...

m, I hear ya on completed works. Sometimes it's torture waiting for new chapters, lol. But you have just got to read In Plain Sight. It is absolutely fantastic. Gotta ask to be friended, but that's not a big deal. Wish I could talk to you about it here. But she's got me hangin on for every word she lets out there.

Orchid, you are so right. It has been awhile for anything. It's been a dry spell. It's been slow n go. It's great tho, to have this forum to come to.
