Wonderfalls

For the first full day of fall:

"I especially love messing with Austin."

"He was always making faces at me, trying to crack me up,"

"It usually worked too. I was trying to be all serious and I'd see him sticking his tongue out and I'd lose it."

"He'll do a take and I'll say, 'you're not really going to do that are you?' "

"There is a harmony in autumn, and a lustre in its sky, which through the summer is not heard or seen, as if it could not be, as if it had not been!"

Percy Bysshe Shelley(1792-1822)

Thanks Spooky and Hjulia for the YM articles. (YM April 2004, YM June 2004)

With the blue font on blue background it looks like "I especially love mating with Austin." LOL

Florida Tom said...

Pretty apparent it was love at first sight. This is just ones of these couples that stays together forever.

Anonymous said...

^^ITA, Tom, but things were complicated when they met - Austin had a long-term fiancee and Jake was with Kirsten.

Maybe all those complications are what makes them feel they can't be open. They could be a very appealing couple like NPH and his partner. The time may have passed for that now, what with Reese in the picture.

Dear Ted:
Kindly please replace your word of retard to peabrain or D.D. (Delbert Dumbutt) or something that is decidedly less targeted to a group of people who already got the shaft in life; the mentally retarded. I love you, baby! I'm just defensive about the term since my son is high-functioning autistic. Now get a move on with some serious gossip. BTW, is Hillary Clinton Toothy Tile? Thought I'd have some fun today!
—Mckinn

Dear PC:
Noted, but don't go too Tropic Thunder on my ass and take it with a little bit of humor (I get your point, though), just as I am with your BV guess. It's good for the chuckles, but Hil ain't your man.

Dear Ted:
Does Toothy Tile know he's Toothy Tile in your Blind Vices? I've always heard that people in celebrity camps scroll blog sites (just to make sure they're getting talked about, of course). Just wondering if his people have figured out you're talking about him.
—Brg4Eyes

Dear Eavesdrop:
Toothy knows, alright. That's why he loves to do his out-me mamba all across T-town.

Anonymous said...

Couple more:

Dear Ted:
You mention that Colin Farrell has been in a "family twister" Blind Vice and that Toothy Tile is "less brawny in real life." You also have said that there is a Baby Tile, and Colin has a kid, does he not? Is he Toothy?
—AJ in Columbus

Dear Jigsaw Jumbler:
It sounds good on paper. But in reality, C.F. is as hetero and horny as they come.

As much as I wish Toothy Tile was in actuality Sarah Palin's husband, I have convinced myself it is Hugh Jackman. Yay or Nay?
—Katy

Dear Wishful Thinking:
Nay. Almost, but not quite.

So, Ted outed Hugh Jackman?

Good morning, everyone. Not a good night of sleep; woke up @ 2 and then again @ 4. The sunrise was quite mesmerizing this morning. The sun was this big round globe and the bottom of it was this intense red-orange. And then, just like a picture, there were layers that went up from there, gradually lighter and lighter shades of that red. Unbelievable. I had to backtrack a little bit just so I could keep walking facing towards it.

On the way back, I watched everyone in their cars as I sat at stoplights. A crisp looking, striped business shirt, one lady holding onto her insulated thermal mug, no doubt filled with caffeinated brew, and one lady rounding the corner, a cig dangling out of her mouth as she puffed her way into the office, lol. You know, these are the people who are keeping the wheels churning in this country. Not the top dogs, not the ones with all the $. Yes, they're the ones with alot of the ideas and the $ to back them, but it's all the Joe Blows and Jane Does, going in every day, punching in or swiping their electronic keys into the factory, the office, the nursery, the landscaping firm, the restaurant, the all night convenient store, whether it's because they truly like what they do or they just need to put food on the table & pay the rent, they're the ones who are doing the grunt work. A Salute to all the 8 to 5'ers.

Hi Prairie Girl,

So sorry to hear about what happened to your friend at work. Losing someone is difficult enough, but when it's so random and senseless like this, it's very hard to understand why people can treat each other this way. Take care. (((((PrairieGirl))))). Your posts add a lot to our group.

Thanks for the dreamy pic of our guys today. I'll check out the song when I get home.

I love Ted, a gossip columnist with and edge, but also a heart. :*

"Less than a week after Brad Pitt donated $100,000 to fight a California initiative to ban gay marriage in the state, Steven Spielberg and wife Kate Capshaw have followed equal rights suit, announcing that they will match the six-figure donation to the "No on 8" campaign."

Great that Hollywood is supporting this but letting their stars come out would be even better.

So Reese is back from London (we are told) but couldn't resist getting pic'd at the airport. What's the difference?

Anonymous said...

No difference.

Reese used Flynet to promote the fauxmance and her new movie. PR business as usual.

destiny said...

Thanks for the beautiful post to start off the fall. This is my favorite time of year.

I'm jealous you got to see a beautiful sunrise PG. I'm rarely up at that hour, except, oddly enough, on vacation. Plus I don't think I've ever seen a gorgeous sunrise in NYC--just sunsets.

That's great about Spielberg. Hopefully others will follow. I wonder about people like Geffen and Wenner.

Anonymous said...

Call me a cynic but how would the paps know what flight she got off if they're alloewed only in the LAX general public lobby area? I think the story of Reese coming back from London is BS. Wouldn't be surprised if she came back from somewhere else (was there for 4 Xmas movie interviews/press), if she went to London and the setup pap pics will be released later for PR or even if she did a walk thru the airport with the big fake smile to let it seem like "something" happened (engagement). Esp the walk thru..really cheap and easy to do. I won't be surprised if it was done so that they can now release an "engagement" announcement and to drag the fauxmance out longer because of PoP.

Anyone see this?

Fashion prince Tom Ford is finally going to see his dream come true.

The former Gucci designer is putting the final touches on his directorial debut of the movie adaptation of Christopher Isherwood's 1964 novel, A Single Man.

Sources reveal exclusively to me that it looks like Colin Firth will star as a gay college professor who deals with the sudden death of his lover. The character is helped in his efforts by a lifelong female friend and one of his students.

Firth's rep tells me "he's in discussions" but it's not a done deal.

Julianne Moore will play the friend while Jamie Bell has signed for the student role, my sources say. The story takes place in 1962 in Los Angeles.

No studio is attached to the project, but Ford plans to begin filming in L.A. in November.

Ford announced in November that he acquired the movie rights to the novel.

The look will be pure Ford. One source says, "It should be very cool with all those '60s cars and great midcentury homes."

After leaving Gucci in 2004, Ford spoke publicly about wanting to get into directing.

He also started his namesake men's fashion line last year.

destiny said...

Interesting that someone like that would be given the chance to direct, and that he got well-known actors to take a chance on it too.

Wow, what do you mean you never see the sunrise in New York? Do the buildings block it? It was gorgeous, Destiny. This time, tho, it wasn't one of those where the colors spill out and flood the whole east side of the sky. This one was solely in the sun itself. That is definitely my favorite time to be at my park; when I'm the only one out there (or so I think) and there is just barely getting to be some light in the sky. It's just me, my thoughts, my horrible singing, and the lil critters.

I saw that, Special. Our man, Colin, eh?

Anonymous said...

PG sorry to read about your coworker. You're right about it being a shock, not like TV..not even like trhe TV news. It's sad. Hope her family and friends will be okay.

destiny said...

I meant two things PG, one, the sunrises are not very exciting in New York (I've seen one or two when I've been driving east early in the morning), and I normally can't see them from where I live due to buildings.

I get my sunrise fixes when I go out west to visit family, but I bet the ones in Kansas are especially good because there are not a lot of mountains, etc. blocking them.

prairiegirl said...

Crystal ball, I'm going to guffaw at your comment in just a second. But I've got to express thanks, too, to shocked. Everyone's kindness is really appreciated and I know her family is probably stunned by people's warm & loving natures. She really was very nice and knew how to play the violin; I didn't know that. She was in the K.C. Youth Symphony and had moved back home after getting her job as a microbioligist where I work. She moved back home for awhile because it was closer to her job and she was going to save money for a house. She had been out that night after getting off work and went to have dinner & drinks with friends down at Westport, a small community of Kansas City where there's alot of bars & it's a young people's hangout, or always has been, anyway. They have arrested 2 guys, one of which confessed already. They spotted her because she was alone & looked vulnerable. They needed gas money & she was trying to lock the door as they approached & demanded money. The whole thing was a case of being in the wrong place at the wrong time.

I guess we all just always need to be on our guard. Even if we're alone, to always have keys in hand and look around; look like we're walking with a purpose and always check around as you're getting into your car.

prairiegirl said...

Okay, Destiny, you kinda clarified your statement; now I can't guffaw.
:(
Still a good one, crystal ball!

There's definitely no mountains around here. Big hills. That's what we have. Big hills and lots of prairie grass. Lots of sunflowers that grow wild along the sides of the roads but road crews can't chop them down because, of course, they're the state flower.

I wonder what book that is Jake is holding up. And I wonder who snapped these pictures? Was it really paparazzi? Would they really go inside a Borders or you reckon they're taken with one of those big ol, honkin' zoom lenses from outside the store? Course, Borders usually has all their windows plastered with 200 posters of the same promotion going on inside. You generally can't see inside their stores for nothin.

PG

A lot of people have wondered what book Jake was holding up and grinning about. And that was definitely his Austin smile.

Wasn't the story about the pictures that the photograph just happened to be around?

One thing I noticed was that leaving Jake and Austin's friends left, but no Austin. Either he went out ahead, stayed in the story and went out later, or went out the other door.

Think PG would agree if a Kansas sunrise is summer, and the sunsets are spectacular.

Living on the coast I've seen the sunrise on the Atlantic many times, but I did get to do the coolest thing once. I got to see the sunset rise on the Atlantic and the sunset on the Pacific in the same day, it was amazing.

Clay Aiken has officially come out of the closet as a gay man in the new issue of People magazine.

Welcome to the gayborhood, daddy!

prairiegirl said...

It's not on People's website yet, but, yes, somehow Perez Hilton does have a preview of the cover. Clay Aiken with his new baby. (This is the first time I've looked at Perez's website for probably about 6 mths) Interesting. Clay's quote on the cover: "I cannot raise a child to lie or to hide things."

That is quite the story. I anticipate it will be all over the tabloid TV shows tonight. Very courageous & honest of Clay. I hope it works out great for him. He looks great on the cover. I like his hair - looks better than that blond hairpiece thing he was wearing for Broadway.

The dominoes are taking a tumbling for you, Tom! :)

prairiegirl said...

And that was definitely his Austin smile.

And none like no other. Definitely a spectacular one, one that reaches into the eyes.

My gosh, so that was a transcontinental flight. That must have been forever up in the air.

Anonymous said...

Yea kids lie and hide enough things on their own LOL

destiny said...

I'm very happy to see Aiken acknowledging that having a child changes things. And "mom", I can recall reading an article awhile back about children and lying, and parents have a lot to do with shaping that. I can't recall all the specifics, but I seem to remember that one factor is whether parents are observed lying.

I doubt Reese was in London. I think she was out of town [in the US maybe Canada] doing pre press for 4 Christmases or doing that voiceover job or whatever but not in London. In the LAX pics she has a bodyguard with her, someone's carrying her bags and it looks like there's an assistant so the trip looks more business than personal. Also she was papped on 9/18 Thursday afternoon, why would she travel 10 hours [at least, not counting airport time] arrive on a very late in GB Friday night/ early Saturday, stay 1 or 1 1/2 days and come back on Monday? Doesn't make sense, in love [yeah riiiiiight] or not. I think what she's doing is just getting some fauxmance PR out of some stupid little work trip.

Okay, Telluride, thanks for your honesty. I hear ya. It does indeed look gorgeous from what I saw. And Idaho. That place looks really pretty, too. All those northwest states - Montana, Wyoming, Idaho. You're lucky to have visited there! I'm sure you saw unbelievable sunrises & sunsets there, ones hard to be topped. Certainly physically topping mine seen over a blue heron-waste covered sidewalk and the pee wee league football field goalposts, lol! But I try to look past all that.

^^Not at all. I love sunflowers, blue herons, and would love to visit Kansas. The first time I ever saw the Tetons with the sun turning them pink, I thought I would fall right down on my ass, they were so beautiful. A sunset or a sunrise, or a rainbow, is beautiful just about anywhere you see it. You can see some of the most remarkable ones right in your own backyard. I saw an rainbow shaped like the St. Louis arch driving home one day. Nature is my rescue too. I need to become an earlier bird tho to enjoy more sunrises. :)

What's weird about TDAT, was there were no pictures of Jake and Austin together at the premiere. Jake had his picture with Emmy and Arjay but not Austin. Why not?

Anonymous said...

I'm not really a fan of Clay Aiken, but he has guts for doing this and I thinking coming out takes balls. He's gone up in my estimation by a long shot. Good for him for being honest for his own sake and the sake of his child.

And ditto for Lindsay Lohan and Samantha Ronson, although of course minus the child.

I followed a link from Datalounge, Wicked, and the Claymate fans are wildly supportive of Clay, it must be said. I think the entertainment industry sometimes underestimates fanbases and their potential for compassion and/or support. Clay could potentially change a lot of minds by going public with this, so I say good on 'im.

I would agree. I read a sampling of comments on People.com and alot of the direction comments were taking was no surprise and "Okay, well, let's go onward". In other words, it was really not a surprise and not a big deal, what's the next story? It's a big story in that for someone to come out, it still just is in Hollywood. It's happened more frequently here lately and hopefully we'll live to see the day where it's not magazine cover worthy. But it's not earthshattering, career ending, I don't think. I think fans just appreciate the honesty and upfrontness.

prairiegirl said...

Correction on the sampling of comments. Not on People.com, but on the thread of the post on Perez. Sorry about that!

destiny said...

Sorry I misinterpreted what you said Mom. You are of course right about what you said.

I've always wondered that about the TDAT premiere too Dee, it seems strange. I suspect they were afraid to be together in front of others for fear of people picking up on attraction, and it wasn't too long before Jake and Kiki broke up.

Clay has certainly gone up in my eyes because of this. I don't like his music, but I have a tremendous amount of respect for his doing this.

And as more and more people come out, Reeke looks even more ridiculous.

Special K said...

Now that I've had my baseball moment, back on track.

I agree I think Hollywood underestimates and also treats the public like backwards cousins.

It's true that there will always be people who won't be accepting, but it seems like sexual orientation is no longer the taboo that Hollywood is still treating it. Television has not only gay, lesbian, and bisexual storyline, but evens transexuals playing in prime time.

And for the population in square states (sorry PG) that Hollywood is so worried about, have they seen what daytime tv is here in the US. And I'm not talking about soap operas, but shows on In Style, Home & Garden Television, Food Network, Discovery, TLC. Regularly have they shows that have same sex couples. There is no sensationalism of their relationship or lifestyle, they are just there to sell their house, redecorate a room, plan a party, learn to cook like all the others who have been on the show. You don't see those middle American ladies turning off their sets or protesting for the removal of the shows.

Hollywood needs to stop being so afraid of the demographic and have confidence in the public.

I do think there is one positive thing that is happening in Hollywood. You are seeing more movies that have gay main characters and gay themes as the major focus of the film. It is not just the gay best friend in a supporting role. Tt's a gay main character with straight best friend. Do think that the success of BBM had something to do with the trend, but I also think it is society ready for these things to happen as well.

Hollywood really needs to reassess their audiences and find out what they're really think, not what they think they are thinking.

prairiegirl said...

Square states? Are ya talking about the shape of our backwards state? I thought we were kind of rectangular.

LOL! Yeah, guess we are a bit conservative and can be behind the times. I know our radio stations run about 2-3 months behind VH-1. "And folks, here's a Brand new song by blah, blah, blah, and it's something that was playing on VH-1 forever ago.

Excellent & well said, Special. I don't think it's as big a deal as the Hollywood Top Brass think.

Clay Aiken's story is already a headline on CNN.com and is on USA Today.com. Who are these Claymates, just his fans? The articles seem to be always mentioning them. I have one song of his downloaded on my ITunes, Destiny. "Invisible". I like that song - it's kind of bubblegumish, but I like it.

Goodnight all - sweet dreams :)

Jake and Austin were not photographed together at Day After premiere, but there are photos of Jake in which Austin is in the far background, with other cast members, on some steps, I think. If you follow the eyeline, Austin's eyes are on Jake most of the time. It's been a while since I looked at those photos, but I think they are on IHJ. Also, Jake was interviewed in his hotel room, and the interviewer noted that he had a roommate. Not present at the interview, but I'd lay good money the roommate was Austin.

Bravo to Clay. I am not a fan of his, but he did the right thing and his reason is dead on. I hope Jake and Austin read those words.

Aw, Jake and Austin are so darn cute together. Love the new quote since it shows that both of them where quite smitten.

Also great news about Clay and Lindsay coming out! If only our boys would have the courage to do so one day.

It has been a tragic day for us again in Finland. We had a second school shooting in under a year and now all talk is about violence, depression and gun control. It's so comforting to come here and find everyone still getting together and being there for each other.

My heart goes out for you PG: so sorry about your loss!

prairiegirl said...

Thank you, Clarity, very much. And to you, hopeful tb. Hopeful, I am sorry to hear about your tragedy at the school. I'm not sure what kind of desperation leads to that kind of action. It's a startling, eyeopening thing, that's for sure. Hopeful, you just turn to each other; don't hide from it. Talk about it to others. Air out your fears. Everyone has them. And somehow form a good thing out of a bad. Don't let the bad win out.

We do have to look out for each other. Need to notice habits of our neighbors & friends. Because unfortunately, there are some out there who mean harm. Some things there's no way to predict or anticipate. But you just do the best you can; that's all you can ask of yourself.

And Finland? Goodness, I've got to google that when I get back from my walk. My loquaciousness has set me behind on beating the sunrise, I'm afraid. Maybe you're our Most Westest, HopefulTB. What time is it there? I'll have to check time zones.

Do not compare them, please. I'm from Europe and I have absolutely no idea who Clay Aiken is. Good for him for coming out, though. But, Jake is becoming an international star, he has a very good chance to become one of leading men of his (my) generation in 5-10 years, his face instantly recognizable all around the globe, like the ones of Tom Hanks, Brad Pitt and DiCaprio. He has too much too lose if something goes wrong.

Anonymous said...

So you think Jake should come out only if his career fails ?

I'll have to disagree about Jake and Clay Aiken. I think Clay Aiken is much better known than Jake Gyllenhaal. If you move away from the fandom most people still don't know who Jake is.
