Before people jump to all kinds of conclusions about red carpet stuff no one knows what will happen till it happens. So going crazy about they what they will and won't do , and what will it mean over all of Chrismahanukwanzakah (thank you Virgin Mobile) does nothing but make you glum and who wants to be that right now? You know Santa and Harry Hanukkah Harry don't want that. But hey if you must go for it, then go for it.

Just wait and see what happens. And you know the upside to all of it? Jake with a good haircut and in a tux. Come on you gotta give him that - the man is devastating in a tux.

OMG Season of Sharing

Darfur Stoves Project

Everyday, women living in the refugee camps of Darfur, Sudan must walk for up to seven hours outside the safety of the camps to collect firewood for cooking, putting them at risk for violent attacks. Researchers at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory have engineered a more efficient wood-burning stove, which is greatly reducing both the women's need for firewood and the threats against them when they leave the camps.

The benefits include: less time outside of the camps collecting fuel wood, reducing the risk of exposure to rape, fully enclosed flames reducing the danger of the dense straw and stick shelters from burning down, reduction of smoke production compared to other stoves, reducing smoke inhalation and lung disease and saving time by cutting down fuel wood treks, allowing women to pursue income generating opportunities.

OMG, what a song! lol Good news about the Golden Globes too. That's all I'm sayin'. :)

Northeast, you took the words right out of my mouth. That song is a hoot. I probably still wont watch the globes - the good parts show up on youtube anyway and we can always count on IHJ to grab any Jake shots.

That is good news about Jake getting to be a presenter at the Golden Globes. Has he ever been a presenter at the Globes before or at the Oscars?

lol! You know us so well, Special. I had my mouth already open, ready to spout. Water went back down quite obediently. Nah, not really. I'll wait til you're asleep late at night then I'll sneak in here & make a comment about it, lol. It's so hard to resist!!! You know it is. You have 100x more patience than I do. I ought to enter the Olympics as often as I leap off the dock - you'd think I'd have perfected a great perfect 10 dive by now - LOL!

I haven't heard this song yet - I have my Christmas music playing @ work right now. I'll have to listen when I get home. It's kinda funny - When I try to sneak-ily open OMG here @ work, I have to real quickly lower my volume because the song always comes Blaring out! Sometimes I forget and it's a wonder someone doesn't ask what in the heck I'm listening to. I loved yesterday's song! I'm going to have to go search I Tunes for that one.

You know, I'm a little worried about our friend, Chris. I wish I knew if he was okay. Course, it's holiday time and everyone has all kinds of things going on with family and all. Some people's jobs are all kinds of crazy right now, like mine. Last day of the week and I was wishing for an easy day, but oh no. It's gotta be a pain day. Could be an ibuprofin day, lol.

m, did you finish 48 days yet? I enjoyed it so much. I'm trying to think of that little daschund's name and I can't think of it right now. The little one shot that she wrote about him made me cry. I couldn't see my computer screen when I read it. Oscar!!! That's his name.
But the reason I was thinking about that was In Plain Sight is like one of my top 5 favorites and she hasn't written for several months. The awful thing about internet is you talk to people but it's not like real life. You don't see them every day or once a month. Don't talk on the phone. And if they just go AWOL, you have no idea of knowing. I always worry if they've been in an accident or something worse. I'd have no way of knowing.

Special K said...

Hey I know people will say stuff and speculate about the red carpet and that's ok, say it, go for it. But sometimes people get so worked up about that - that effects the other parts of their lives. Why mess up your holidays all nuts over it?

Thanks, gg, I didn't know that. That was before I knew Jakeman existed, lol.

Prairie Girl,

Come to the Dark Side, come to WFT2

I read WFT2 all the time. Lots of sharp, hilarious wits there. I haven't worked up the courage to get on, though. I'm very easily intimidated. But I love WFT2.

Well, not a whole lot else going on. We are so busy here & need to get back. Special, I'm worried about your ankle. I wish I was around to help out in some way.

And you're right, Special. Can't do anything about it. And this is too wonderful of a time of year to bring myself down. I'm trying to lay off as much as I can.

I want to hear everyone's plans for this holiday season if they observe Hannakuh (sp??), Kwanzaa, or Christmas. Don't have to spill everything; just curious. Shopping all done? Meeting with family?
My brother, sister, & niece & nephew are coming up here so my family will get together. Have several friends to see/get ahold of to wish Merry Christmas. Would just like to listen to holiday music, get a little baking done to share with the neighbors, and watch some of my favorite Christmas dvd's. I have so many and I haven't gotten to even watch very many. This happened last year.
What's some of everybody's favorite Christmas shows? I have a ton - don't ask! lol!

Well, I gotta go. Sorry for the run of the mouth again. Everyone have a great afternoon!

Special K said...

Going away - still need to do laundry, nothing is wrapped, I have to find my suitcase. It's right on schedule. : )

My Christmas is in Kansas City and going to have BBQ and Stroud's fried chicken part of time I'm out there. Of course the Laker Celtic game on Christmas day and football, football, football. And being with my two older brothers there were tons of taunting and teasing me.

Will watch A Christmas Story over and over that day. And yell ...Bumpuses! as the dogs run through the house. My brother loves the scene in the Chinese restaurant when they cut the goose's head off.

One thing I don't watch - Frosty. Watched once when I was 4 and never have again. My then 12 yr old brother taunting me about Frosty melting and dying so much that it turned into a scene that was like the slow motion one in Platoon except with more crying and vomit. Oh yeah it went there. And what do they do now? Wrap my Christmas presents in Frosty paper.

Jake didn't show up at the GG in 06 when he failed to nab a nomination (although Heath, Michelle, Ang and the film all got nods). Even Lainey called him a sore loser/spoiled brat around that time.

I could be mistaken but I'm almost sure IHJ tagged it as a party for the GG's in 2006 - We know it wasn't O5 he had his head shaved, but maybe I was wrong and it was a party for the GG's 2007. My bad, please forgive.

Still wonder about the jacket and ears in the background

Just had to check in - this food voyeur just had a wonderful time at the bakery picking up goodies for the holidays - I can't eat them because they are too caloric, but I sure can look - gingerbread houses, rich cakes and gateaux, Black Forest cakes and tiramisu, rich cakes and gateaux filled with lemon or chocolate mousse, covered in whipped cream and chocolate ganache, fruit tarts, beautifully decorated Christmas and Hanukkah cookies, everything covered with powdered and crystal sugar and chocolate, pies, breads, and ready-made pasta and other dishes to take home when you're to busy to cook! I got an eyeful. The candy store was the same way - white chocolate, truffles of all kinds, peppermint bark. What a trip. I've got to go grocery shopping in a few.

I'll be enjoying a Christmas Eve open house/birthday party for my niece, probably enjoying Christmas lights & decorations and getting ideas for next year, having a few drinks and then cooking dinner on Christmas Day. Yay! Celtics and Patriots too. :)

Prairie girl, I finished 48 days last night. Enjoyed it very much. Going to take a bit of a break before I start the next part because I've neglected too many things while getting it read.

I am having a very quiet Xmas as with most holidays lately. The family we have is now scattered all over hell and back. Phone calls to say hello + a couple blu ray videos will occupy my time. I just bought season 1 of Mad Men. We are not even exchanging gifts this year, by mutual agreement given the economy, so it's a gift to myself.

Jake for sure is setting himself up for a Golden Globe nomination in2010 for PoP. I am sure he will be back at the Golden Globes next year. Two acting awards are given at the Golden Globes. One is for drama and the other is for acton, comedy, or musical. Jake and his advisers sure know how to play the game.

Most presenters do not walk the red carpet. Jake can sneak in and out however he wants. Whether he goes to an after party with the general we will have to see.

Ahhhh! Now's my chance while everyone's asleep....naw, I wouldn't do that. lol.

Oh, I just got back from a late night of shopping. Been waiting & waiting for the snow to start and I'm still waiting. Where in the heck is it at? I suppose the winter storm front "is moving a slower than originally anticipated". I don't want snow! I want to run around tomorrow.

But my friend in Michigan called tonight and she said they had about a foot and a half on the ground. Man. That's horrible.

Special, I was sort of watching White Christmas too. I wasn't sure at first if it was that one or Holiday Inn. I haven't seen Holiday Inn. In the Good Old Summertime was also on, on TCM I think, with Van Johnson & Judy Garland, another good one. VJ was so young in that one.

I don't like Frosty either. That's one of the few Christmas dvd's I don't have. I don't like when he melts, I don't like the bad guy who wants his hat, and I don't like it when everytime Frosty comes to life, he says "Happy Birthday". Lol! Is that enough reasons? Wow, you were really traumatized with that show, weren't you? Geez,it's kinda funny, but at the time, it sounds like it was a nightmare!

Northeast, I wish I had been with you shopping today at your bakery. Sounds like quite a sight and quite the aromas. I'm going to try to do some baking tomorrow while listening to some music. Hopefully watch a few of my Christmas dvd's. And wrap. And wrap. And wrap.

It's also the reason my posts look like they've been typed by a monkey this week.
People who appear on the gg show are often promoting something, so Jake's appearance may have something to do with Brothers.

PG thx for thinking og me. I'm here just busy with relatives and work.(relatives are work too!). I really have nothing to say right now. Austins all but disappeared, no BT in sight, Reeke pics.

I'm starting to wonder if J&A especially J, are part time fathers: 1 or 2 weekends per month and holidays with the child. BT probably lives with mama or relative (probably Austins) in a remote place (probably Texas) and J&A (especially J) go visit when it fits into the schedule. Thats probably why we haven't seen J or A with the baby, because they are hardly with it.

1 thing bothers me, Reeses new long hair. If its for a movie, ok, but isnt her volcano flick postponed filming? Maybe another movie. It bothers me becase brides like their hair long and flowing to go with the veil, they don't cut it short before a wedding. Reese cut hers 3-4 months ago for Vogue cover, now its long again. Thats the only reason why I wonder if a wedding is in the works. Maybe a fake wedding, anyone ever thought of that? Like Heidi and Spencer how they went to another country (Mexico) and got married but not really married. A ceremony but no paperwork. Its possible reeke will do that too (even in the US) but not do anything legaly binding, just a splashy "private" ceremony that oops! the paps will happen to end up at accidentally.

Loved Ent Lawyers story, all the comments there were 'Reeke is fake.' LOL.

I have a question for the babblers and anyone here who thinks Jake is bi and Reeke are dating. In the IHJ bithday dinner pics, shit, in any pics of Reeke, where are the physical actions that define romance, that makes a relationship sexual/romantic vs. a brother/sister/relative/friend/work relationship? You don't kiss/french kiss, hug/feel up, put your hand on a female butt/mans chest, hold their faces in both hands when you kiss in a friends/business/sibling relationship (at least I hope you don't lol). Those physical acts define and separate the romantic relationship from any others like brother-sister, thats the difference. Those things put a relationship into the romance category. I don't see and haven't seen those acts between Reeke, I only see things that are done in friendships.

Some of you might say then why does Reeke always hold hands, he has his arm around her, Jake's face is close to hers when they talked at dinner, he touched her hair, he looks like he listens to her. Yes those things are done in romance (but they don't define it) but also in friendship. You might say you don't do that with your friends, so what Reeke is doing must be more than friendship.

But you have to remember something very important that defines/separates Jake from us: he's an artist, an actor. With artists their physical/expressive boundaries are different, they run on emotion. You go visit your MBA buddy at his Fortune 100 firm and walk around, then go visit your actor friend at his film set and walk around. The actor might be at a vulnerable mood, feeling sensitive and needs you to hold his hand literally all day, he talks to you in whispers close to your ear, he is in the moment, in his feelings and feeling childlike, needy and attentive and you know what: its OK. Its accepted, he's an artist, he always is "in the moment" he expresses his emotions, its what he is. The MBA? The same behavior in the office with you visiting all day: no, not accepted, odd, unprofessional. Jakes behavior with Reese, holding hands (on the street, on the set, at dinner), speaks more of neediness and childlike artiste behavior to me, the way actors and artists I've known behave. Their boundaries and how (not if) they express themselves are different from other people and professions.

IMO Jake used to rely on his friend Chris (not me) alot. Remember the grocery store parking lot pics? Chris carrying the big bags, walking ahead, looking at Jake with concern, and Jake carrying nothing, wearing his hoodie with the hood over his head, walking 10 paces behind and looking like he was "in a mood"?? Not a bad mood, just moody, "gloom and doom" "I need taking care of." IMO Chris got tired of it and went off to make his own life instead of always catering to Jake and Jake's feelings and only being known as Jake's friend. IMO Jake needs to have a constant companion and confidant and Reese took Chris's place, with the added bonus of being female and starting some romance rumors which they both but especially Reese, take advantage of, play on and are getting their mileage worth out of them all they can. IMO Jake goes with the flow and is only showing friendship gestures. I don't think Jake is doing active bearding, I think he's happy enough that his platonic friendship with Reese gets misinterpreted by the public as romance. It seems like he's satisfied with just doing that and even then he's starting to lose interest. All the pics we see of Reese leaning towards him and trying to make it look like more - he's leaning back and away from her. IMO Reese would love it if he played along with her in public in front of the paps. Except for the goodbye quick kiss at the LAX after Rome (and I think he regretted it because he hasn't done it since) he hasn't demonstrated anything rock-solid that defines their relationship as a romance. So far all its been is a lot of smoke and mirrors.

OMG I wrote so much I forgot the other stuff I wanted to say LOL.

I don't know, Chris. Let me just tell you that I'm not a babbler (I find these women very annoying) but I believe R&J are dating. Every straight woman would tell you that you just don't hold your hands with your male friends, neither you touch their hair or kiss them on the lips (the airport picture). For the majority of men that would be an extremely confusing situation for when they get physical with women they stop being JUST friends. I also understand why there is no French kissing or feeling each other up or touching breasts or butts. She is almost 33. Most women of that age do not engage into PDA. This is what teenagers, twenty-somethings do. Plus, they are very well aware they might be observed. Jake is also not 22 anymore.

I do agree with you that Jake gives an impression of a guy who is needy and moody and a little immature. I know these guys. My friend's husband, who is 35, calls her every day from work and complains about his boss for an hour. She is a big boss too, she is very busy but she patiently listens to him although he drives her crazy. It's always been obvious to me that Jake needs a mother in his relationship with a woman. That's why he likes older women, who are also strong, successful and reliable. He is still a boy. He is attracted to Reese cause she is a mother. For most guys of his age a divorced mother of two wouldn't be the best choice for a serious partner and a future wife. Guys naturally seek relationships with younger women, without baggage, so when they start investing in a new family, it all will be their own thing. But guys like Jake who are in minority, look for women who will take care of them and tell them what to do with their lives. I'm sure he calls her 10 times a day just like my friend's husband. These guys tend not to have many male friends because they are big sissies and feel insecure around macho types. Drinking beer, watching football -not for them. Jake even stopped cycling with his buddies. Afraid of their women's reaction, they try not to upset them harbouring a grudge against them at the same time. They don't cheat on their wives merely because they are simply afraid of them.

I believe Jake is bi. He's chosen to be with a woman because it's so much easier in Hollywood. He needs a career. Esp now he just has to get rid of any associations with gay culture and BBM. It's sad but true. Most straight guys are homophobes, no matter what they say, deep inside they still think what they think. My friend's boyfriend once told me before watching Jarhead with us:"Oh that guy... I always think that he's gay now that I've watched Brokeback." Jake has to sell PoP to a huge audience of straight guys who a game players and big fans of the game. They won't go and see it if they still think he might be gay.

I still don't understand why there are no pictures of him with his family, though. I don't understand how hanging with a couple of male friends at the Lakers game would ruin his image. Reese has become his whole world. And while it seems nice for now, it might be the reason of serious problems later. You don't put all your eggs in one basket. Years after, you look around and what do you see? No friends, no hobbies, nothing. Only your beloved partner. This is what upsets me the most in this relationship. He's holding her hand like his life depends on it.

Anonymous said...

Every straight woman would tell you that you just don't hold your hands with your male friends, neither you touch their hair or kiss them on the lips (the airport picture).

I do with my bi/gay male friends..and thats all it is, friends. Hugs, kisses hello and goodbye and affection all around. No big deal. You're assuming that people who hold hands, touch each others hair and kiss hello/goodbye on the lips like Reeke are dating and having sex. Thats pretty narrow.

I also understand why there is no French kissing or feeling each other up or touching breasts or butts. She is almost 33. Most women of that age do not engage into PDA. This is what teenagers, twenty-somethings do. Plus, they are very well aware they might be observed. Jake is also not 22 anymore.

There is NO love-kissing with Reeke, NO love touching, caressing, languorous stroking or touches. It doesn't have to be crude to show desire and so what if they are papped being sexually affectionate. Again you're assuming: you say most women over 33 don't show any affection in public, only women in their 20s do it. Thats bullcrap. You probably believe people over 60 don't have sex anymore either.

Jake may be bi but IMO he's not with Reese sexually. Anyone can see that theres nothing there to see.

Its also interesting that Reese is the one selling the romance, thru indirect quotes and "anon sources". Jake hasn't said a word.

Im not sure but that statement doesnt ring true to me. I'll have to ask some of my straight friends about that. I do feel that most men would tell the world if they were actually in love with a woman. JMO.

Chris! Good morning (last night). I had hoped that's what it was, that you were just really busy with the holiday activities/visiting/or work and glad to hear it. Sorry if I was being a pest - I'm a worrier, unfortunately. Try not to, but I was concerned so I had to ask. Wherever you are, have a blast and happiest of holidays to you.

I agree with alot of what you said; your comment about the hair is really interesting, (unfortunately) but man, I hope it's not true.

I have my own opinion on the PDA, too, and I could really go on a rant about it, but knowing what we know about their PR people? I'm not giving them any script ideas. They'll take it and run with it so these lips are zipped.

Destiny, I noticed the funny code-like typing, lol. I figured it was because of what you were typing on. I'm going to watch the trailer this morning now that I'm stirring.

Just rolled out of bed, for gosh sakes. We got barely an inch of snow, I think. A whopping 14 degrees right now. I pray my brother & his family make it up here okay. I heard ice was heavier down south.

It's a great day, guys!! I think everyone's just having some peaceful time, time off work, time with their family or family they haven't seen for awhile, time with a friend or two, time with their precious pets who love it that they're not at work & loving on them, time with a wonderful favorite movie getting lost in it, or time doing something they love like reading , baking, heck even cleaning/straightening up which isn't bad when you have the time to do it and nowhere that you have to be. I'm celebrating that today, thinking of everyone having some quiet or joyous times. I am celebrating all of you here @ OMG and so thankful that even though it's across the cyber airwaves, that you are in my life! You are very special to me.

Btw I also ride in cars with my bi/gay guy friends and we have gone on a lot of vacations together, have travelled all over the world together in fact. We shop together, go in dressing rooms together, go in sex shops together, hold hands in public places, laugh a lot together, shared hotel rooms, have see each other naked plenty of times. It doesn't make us lovers.
