Drawing a blank(et)

Austin never seems to get a Top Ten. That's about to change.

Top Ten Ways Austin's working the accessory.

10. Goosey with the fringe on top.

9. It's faster to take off than my shirt

8. Someone went to Morocco and all I got was this lousy rug.

7. It's a bird, It's a plane, its Super Goose.

6. Big Blue was not big enough.

5. Beanies, we don't need no stinking beanies. Try working a rug.

4. Does this makes my arms look shorter?

3. Goy Boy gets his Hebrew on.

2. He forgot his hoodie, has to hide from her under here.

1. Carpet rides courtesy of the Magic Kingdom

Would anything?

Goy Boy gets his Hebrew on.

LOL. Spesh you crack me up.

I love this post. My favorites are Goosey with the fringe on top and goy boy.

I'm with lox and destiny.. Goy Boy gets his Hebrew on is pure genius.

Austin sort of personifies the male shiska doesn't he, and he looks really cute in that blanket.

OT.. have just been to see the Wrestler, I sure its been out ages in the US but only a few weeks here in the UK. Mickey Rourke is fantastic in it, and watching him you can see where Reese got the idea to have those hair extensions for Christmas. They could almost be twins.

Great review of Prayers for Bobby

destiny said...

That's great. I'm disappointed that the NYT didn't have a review in their weekend arts section today, but not surprised, she seems to lean towards the right and prefers shows like 24. They may still run tomorrow, but it won't get the same kind of attention as it would have in today's paper.

Overall, this represents one of Lifetime's finest moments, an original that soars above the network's typical overwrought dramatics.

Looking forward to this finest moment brought to us by Sigourney Weaver, Austin Nichols and Ryan Kelley.

Goy Boy gets his Hebrew on.

Muaah. You leave me wanting - to read P. G. Wodehouse once again:
At this moment, the laurel bush, which had hitherto not spoken, said "Psst!"

Congrats to Austin. Okay, "The Informers" doesn't look...too good (but I'm definitely going to see it to see Austin naked) but this film looks great--seems like SW will get an Emmy nod.

I didn't know actor Dan Butler in Prayers for Bobby was gay. Wiki says he came out in 1994 in Enetainment Tonight interview. I loved him since Frasier. He played a straight sports newscaster guy Bulldog.

Florida Tom said...

Chris I forgot about Dan. He did come out. I remember when he did. I was pretty darned surprised. He was great on Frasier.

Anonymous said...

Tom the way he acted in Frasier and other series and movies and way he just looks I always thought he was staright. I know we shouldn't assume but still if he can have me convinced he's straight in every screen appearence then wow I'm impressed. And he came out in 94 in a PR interview when he was at the top of his game doing Frasier so the man has guts. Jaustin needs to take notes from this guy.

prairiegirl said...

Hey guys!!! Just wanted to pop my head in & say hi to my two fave internet guys.

I remember reading where Bulldog - well, the guy who played him - was gay. I remember being shocked myself but then totally forgot. He was hilarious on Frazier - so obnoxious. He used to drive Roz crazy.

As you were! I will thus depart and leave you back to your conversation. Did neither one of you guys watch Dying Gaul? It was pretty good. Suspenseful. And I usually can't take suspense movies.

And before I go, Tom, are those antibiotics kicking in yet? Are you closer to being amongst the living?

See you later, guys!!

destiny said...

Unfortunately it's a lot easier for character actors to come out than actors in leading roles. David Hyde Pierce didn't come out until after the show was over, and I don't know if the actor who played Frazier's dad (I've gone blank on his name) has ever come out, although it is well-known that he is gay too.

A straight actor's gay education: Scott Bailey on his "Prayers for Bobby" experience

I was lucky enough to audition for and eventually get to play the role of David, Bobby's loving boyfriend who represents hope in the embodiment of a young gay man with supportive parents who is at peace with homosexuality.

As an actor, I am doing what I can by portraying characters like David and promoting films such as Prayers for Bobby which have the power to educate, enlighten and save lives.

Hi guys. Several articles in Thursdays SF chronicle about Prayers, all favorable. One about Leroy Aarons, who wrote the 1995 book on which the movie is based and was listed as a co producer on the lifetime movie. Appparently he came out in a very public way in 1990. He was with the same partner for 24 years, but died a few years ago at age 70.

The blue thing in Jake errand white car pics is plastic car key tag the kind you get with rentals. Reese is has the same tag in 1-22 pics with same white car. Reeke is an official business, they have company cars!

Btw remember comments here and places like Jared at pics of Jake alone saying "he looks so happy and relaxed and he's smiling when he's without Reese". Notice how now the last 2 week the pap pics of him alone, no smiles. "sad" poor Jakey misses his Reesey. Aww. Jake we know its really Austin you miss but good for you putting it to work.

Kevin Spacey to Take On Toothy Tile?

We remember the days when Oscar-nom morning would come and Kevin Spacey would more than likely be a part of it. Now? We caught up with the former two-time Oscar winner slinking around Sundance, promoting his new indie flick, Shrink, instead of celebrating a nom with friends, fam and fellas.

Hey, Kev, there coulda been a nice role for ya somewhere in Milk, we’re sure, if only you went after that terribly chic and sorta male-dominated subject material. But, like, we really did ask this question. For real: What do you think about all these gay-friendly flicks finally getting noticed? Answer might surprise more than a few:

“I think it’s great!” Spacey said, perky and perfectly adept at perhaps uncomfortable queries. “I think people should be courageous and brave enough to do subject matter that they find politically incorrect, dangerous or important to do.”

So you’d be down doing a Milk-like pic? “Oh yeah! Send me the dangerous stuff!”

There ya go, H'wood, ya heard it straight from Spacey’s mouth—can someone send him the script to Toothy Tile: The Movie? ('Cause we so know the real Toothy would pass on it.)

The Awful Truth

Kev isn't Hollywood any more, he's OURS, ours I tell you!

Great post Spesh, I loved goy too, and good to see Prayers is getting well reviewed.

btw the Reese is wearing the 2 rings on a neckalace in the 1-22 pics.

Anonymous said...

Sure, and the chain & ring were worn outside of all her clothing so the paps get a good pic of it. LOL!

Anonymous said...

Whatever happened to the pendant Jake "gave" her? You know the one that was a gift from his sister, the one of a kind? The one that just screamed "I love you!"? Why isn't Reese wearing that?

Anonymous said...

btw the Reese is wearing the 2 rings on a neckalace in the 1-22 pics.

Babblers said this.

Anonymous said...

I saw the pics, and she is wearing the rings on a chain now.

Reese makes sure to show the ring(s) while she's working.

Rings on a rope means reeke on the rocks. All the People/OK/US stories about the breakup, how Reese is still waiting for Jake and wears his rings ona necklace (aww!) will draw out the fauzmance a few more months. And OMG of course the wedding will be postponed agian!

Anonymous said...

Whatever happened to the pendant Jake "gave" her? You know the one that was a gift from his sister, the one of a kind? The one that just screamed "I love you!"? Why isn't Reese wearing that?

It's kept safe in a very special fiction box.

Anonymous said...

"btw the Reese is wearing the 2 rings on a neckalace in the 1-22 pics.

Babblers said this."

How could the babblers say it when the pics came out in limited release on 1-23? LOL Babblers say everything except g-a-y.

Anonymous said...

Wrong, if it was on the rocks she wouldn't be wearing them on a chain, she is wearing them on a chain because someone claims that she was playing with the rings at the Lakers game according to Janet Charleston. Remember Katzenberg supposedly told her she better put that away before someone ses it as Jake and Reese laughed.

You gotta keep up, and of course they are renting what appears to be the same rental car to fool the paps, LOL!!!

The pics were in limited release but you sure saw them!!

Anonymous said...

she is wearing them on a chain because someone claims that she was playing with the rings at the Lakers game according to Janet Charleston.

No, Janet Charleston talked about a diamond ring. Fictional, of course.

Anonymous said...

True, it was a diamond ring and yes fictional but she was photographed wearing 2 rings and then viola! They appear on a chain.

It still playsi nto the Charleston story and Katzenberg supposedly telling her to put it away, gotta keep up gals, it's being taken to a new level, LOL!!

Anonymous said...

"she is wearing them on a chain because someone claims that she was playing with the rings at the Lakers game according to Janet Charleston."

huh?

1. The "engagement" ring she was supposedly playing with (*rolls eyes*) was in her pocket. Funny how 345 pics never caught that special moment.

2. the 2 rings she's wearing on a neckalce now are the same 2 rings she wears on her left hand middle finger. She was wearing them on her finger at Lakers. Babblers swear these 2 rings are either promise rings from Jake (what is this high school? LOL) or 2 rings Jake used to wear a long time ago ( I don't think so)

So what you're saying, that she's now wearing the "hidden" "engagement" "special rings from Jake" doesn't make sense. She's been wearing them on her finger, now they are on a neclace. Which is funny because she's either trying to insinuate that her and poor Jakey are on the rocks but not completely broken up because she still wears his rings or she wears them there to keep them handy for Reeke photo shoots.

Driving the same car is of course tantamount to appearing like a real couple. I wonder after Reese turns the rentals in how much danmage there is after her parking bender fenders.

I saw the pics right away because I get media-only samples. When I saw them they had just been put up.

Anonymous said...

Babblers swear these 2 rings are either promise rings from Jake (what is this high school? LOL)

And we claim Jake is wearing Austin's shirt. I don't see the difference. Talk about high school.

Anonymous said...

Theres a difference, believe me.

Anonymous said...

Promise rings are ok if you're under age 17. It pacifies the reciever and cheap for the giver. Wearing your beloved shirt (or underwear) for a day is all out GD fucking sexy.

Anonymous said...

I remember when the Babblers were ridiculing us for pondering if the turquoise ring Austin wore on his finger or the wedding ring he wore on a chain around his neck were from Jake. Interesting the different standards.

Anonymous said...

orchid ITA.

About the Austin wedding ring on the chain, odd more I think about it. If a man gets a wedding ring from someone like when his father dies he might wear it on a necklace but usually as a ring on right finger. If he gets married he wears it on his left finger. Austin's not married and his mother/father is still living. A woman wouldn't give a bf a wedding ring. Why he has to "hide" it by wearing it on a chain, the only reason I can come up with is a bf. A secret "married" kind of love. (Jake). He hides it so he doesn't get questioned about it. It looks like he was so used to wearing it and when it was so hot at ACL that when he took off his shirt he forgot it was there.

Men don't give each other promise rings. I think the turquoise ring was a gift. Btw did you notice Eva Mendes at the GGs had a turquoise necklace? I read it was from Van Cleef and Arpels and cost mucho bucks. Anyone who says Austins turquoise ring is cheap doesn't know squat.

Anonymous said...

OT can't remember where but yesterday on TV I saw a red carpet clip of shit I can't remember what its called (and too lazy to look it up) but its the movie with Jim Carrey and the other guy, something about "Phillip Morris". Anyway make a long cofnusing comment short LoL, Jim Carrey and the other guy kissed hello on the lips on the red carpet. Not long but enough and very playful and comfortable. Gotta be a 1st with all the gay movies, eh?

Special K said...

Austin's ring might be torquoise or it could be Larimar.

"Larimar is a rare blue variety of pectolite found only in the Dominican Republic, in the Caribbean. Its coloration varies from white, light-blue, green-blue to deep blue. The deep blue variant is known as volcanic blue"

"It is available in the Dominican Republic, and elsewhere in the Caribbean. Most jewelry produced is set in silver, but high grade stones are often set in gold."

"Quality grading is according to coloration: white is low quality, volcanic blue high quality. High quality jewelry utilizes stones between sky-blue and volcanic blue, often in combinations of both. Greenish colorations are also known but not well regarded, unless the green is intense."

"It should be noted that pectolites are photosensitive, which causes the larimar to lose its blue coloration over the years."

Hasn't The General always worn rings on her left middle finger? Seems I remember the babblers screeching about a possible engagement ring last year that turned out to be her SOS bling.

Then there was Maggie's pendant re-gifted. That also ended up as bullshit.

And let's not forget back before Rome, the JIS loonies' conspriacy that had Jake and Reese renting cars to fool the paps. How many times have they been 'caught' recently? Don't think it's working too well. Again.

Anonymous said...

Were there rag "reports" about Jake buying expensive presents last Christmas?

Anonymous said...

The Star reported he purchased a necklace. A necklace from Tiffany's, a necklace that Maggie helped him pick out, a necklace with diamonds and other such pretensious stuff. Not rings.

Anonymous said...

Even IF I believed JIS/JIB I would never say he's with Reese. No chemistry and lets face it he acts like a little boy/child when he's with her like when he rushes out of store/ restaurant doors first, runs ahead to the car. This is not how a man treats a lady love. Compare it to when he's with his agent-manager-pr people, he opens doors for these ladies and lets them go first.

Anonymous said...

Christmas of 2007, not 2008. Since waited a whole friggin' year to wear a gift from her *cough - gay - cough* boyfriend?

Anonymous said...

The Star reported he purchased a necklace.

That was 2007 fiction, what about 2008?

Anonymous said...

Nada for 2008.

Anonymous said...

I see, no Christmas bonus for the beard.

Anonymous said...

He did too get Reese a Christmas gift - he took her out for his birthday!

Anonymous said...

Btw I saw the birthday pics again and 1 thing struck me. They were near a window, not next to it, therer were tables and chairs near the window. But *miracle* no one was sitting at those tables. No big moving heads obstructing the view of the precious lovebirds. Empty tables. Gee how in hell did that happen?

prairiegirl said...

The story in that glorious ol' Star magazine I had seen in December of 2007. Maybe it was Jan 2008 just after Christmas. Not positive. It was about Jake picking out some $3000+ necklace while shopping with his sister. They even had a picture of this necklace in a small inset. I've never seen anything like it on her since that story.

Then this year, there was a small blurb about Jake buying her 2 children each their own Wii's. I have no idea how Star would even know that. And I think in this same little article they mentioned once again about this necklace that he gave her last year.

Entertaining reading. Ah, the ol' Star. My free subscription long run out, but my free one that I gave my mom still holding out so I still get to thumb through it. You know, it's funny. At a medical office/dentist waiting room, you can have a Newsweek or you could have a Star or OK or whatever and I'm going to pick up that rag every time, lol.

prairiegirl said...

Now granted, I wouldn't expect anyone to wear a $3000 necklace out on the street while shopping, but seems like there've been some formal occasions it could be brought out. Must be under lock & key, still in the box, like a collector's item. More valuable if left in its original packaging, maybe??

destiny said...

The money these two must spend on bearding is not only pathetic, but also in poor taste when you think of the economy, people losing jobs and struggling just to keep their jobs. Rental cars, paying to keep tables empty (good catch LOL). Of course that's on top of all the shopping they do. I guess there are fans who like to fantasize about having a life in which shopping is your major form of entertainment, but I sure don't see the appeal.

Funny how the latest pictures of Reese are not on any gossip sites. And you know she's wearing those rings like that so that all the worried babblers can tell themselves that she was wearing them on a chain under her clothes in the photos last week without the rings. You know they were all nervous about that and Jake's shirt because we had an invasion, as did wft2.

Anonymous said...

Necklace story was tabloid fiction and jewelry manufacturer marketing.

prairiegirl said...

Oh, it was fiction alright.

Hey, I was just noticing something and I don't know if I saw anybody else mention it. In the candystripe shirt pictures in the parking garage, there's an object (now don't laugh, I know you're going to the way I put it) in the left side of Jake's pants. lol.
I know, I know. But there is. It's like the size of my VCR remote. What would that be? It's hard to see in some of the pictures but in others it's definitely there. If he was seeing an eye doctor, could be an eyeglass case.

You know, I was thinking too the other day. Doesn't he wear glasses someone has said? I think he's said he doesn't have perfect vision. So I was wondering if he wears his contacts all the time or maybe he's had Lasik surgery? He could certainly afford Lasik surgery. And that would eliminate the need to spend all the money on contacts. Shoot, my Oasys ones cost $35 a box. A box. That's $70 for I forget how many weeks.

Anyway, sometimes these thoughts go through my head when it's void of something, lol. I just thought we never have seen him in glasses. And I don't wear my contacts all the time.

But that object in his pants is interesting. Since it's in his pants and not in his hand, makes me think maybe it's a medical apparatus? Something he didn't want seen. Dunno. Just curious.

prairiegirl said...

since it's in his pants and not in his hand.

LOL! More slash!!!

Tickled myself there.

Good thing I'm headed out. Speaking of VCR remotes, I'll have to set my VCR for PFB. Don't want to miss it. Sure it will be quiet here in another hour.

I agree Chris. The unusualness of a single guy wearing a wedding ring on a chain is striking.

I'm feeling hopeful of late that the situation with Reese may be running its course. Could just be wishful thinking but then again this can't go on forever (hopefully0.

destiny said...

LOL PG and Phone.

Just caught up on this week's OTH, boy does Austin look great in that first scene with Sophia. His hair is perfect in these last few episodes, and the killer grin.

I'm taping PFB, I want to watch it without all the commercial interruptions.

I keep meaning to ask what people think of Ted's latest. Is he saying that Jake doesn't want to do anything remotely gay, project-wise? Or is it just a reference to the closet and not willing to be his toothy self.

Anonymous said...

Destiny, I think he's saying the former, unfortunately.

PFB isn't showing here in Canada :(

destiny said...

Knowing Ted it probably has both meanings. ;-( And I think Ted is getting an additional dig in because even scaredy cat Spacey, who is trying to run from his rumors as hard as Jake, wouldn't shy away from a gay project.

Well, at least Austin isn't afraid of projects like PFB and The Informers. And hopefully there will be a way for you to see PFB Orchid, maybe on the internet, at Austin Media or on dvd.

IHJ Reeke shopping in lA. Old jeans and postage shirt. No beanie. Jake's hair is....verry reddish.

Reese looks so stoopid.

Funny how they hold hands leaving the store (theres people in the store) and then 2 steps later out of the store Jake drops her hand like a hot potato.

Anonymous said...

Jake looks thrilled to be with Reese and they are so much in love!

Anonymous said...

The marks in Jakes hair looks like he might have be wearing the beanie. The beanie Reese is wearing could be Jakes. Aw true love, wearing your gay bf's beanie and looking like an overaged elf street tramp trying to look 19 again!

Anonymous said...

lol at "elf street tramp"! I'm afraid the fact that she's not a nice person makes her diminutive stature something to laugh at. She's like a female, pocket-sized Napoleon. Who finds that attractive or easy to put up with?

Anonymous said...

I love that grandpa sweater, it's nice to see it again. I think Reese is wearing Jake's scarf; one that he was wearing during the London lingerie shop "trip", so she's really going for that I wear all my bf's stuff. God, they both look incredibly miserable, maybe the most miserable we've seen yet. End it now.

Anonymous said...

Eh, who the hell cares about Reeke. Same old shit.

What I want to hear about is "Prayers for Bobby." Just got home from work and want to know - So? Good? Heartbreaking? Austin?

Anonymous said...

Just watched PFB. Austin was good, though his character did not have much depth. Not his fault, just the script. A bit schmaltzy for my taste, and I did tear up at one of Sigourney's scenes. The show was really all hers. I know this is totally inappropriate given the subject matter, but there is a scene with Austin in football pants. Hot.

I saw the McGregor/Jim Carrey kiss yesterday as well. During a Sundance interview. McGregor is a class act. Both were totally comfortable and having a great time.

Saw the new pics on IHJ also. I do not know what is up but Jake is clearly not a happy man. I continue to be very worried about him.

Anonymous said...

Whats up with Jake's red hair?

Anonymous said...

Maybe the Prince will have dark reddish brown hair becaise Jake's natural hair color with the extensions looked too much like Jesus.

Anonymous said...

More still pics. Damn he looks good.

Austin Informers

Anonymous said...

Just came back from watching Slumdog Millionaire. Absolutely fantastic. I specially loved the scenes with the kids and the Indian slums. It was funny, sad and sometimes I wanted to throw up. And yes, Austin's double is in it! but Austin is better looking :)

The new pics: Jake looks unhappy to see the paps. Yeah right! If you dislike the paps, don't call them or don't go where they hang out. When will these 2 learn that no amount of photo ops, exchanging beanies and hanging onto each others arms are going to get them success? Until they make some successful movies they will just keep sliding down or "withering away" as Ted said.

So glad to hear PFB is doing well. I'll wait to see what happens with "the informers"

Clarity said...

I finally got to see Milk last night. Wow. What a great movie. Sean Penn was spectacular. I knew he was good but not that good. It was so authentic too. I felt like I was actually there. Beautiful scene at the end with the candles and street lights. Definitely Oscar worthy.

Anonymous said...

Considering the amount of shopping Reeke does, why is Jake wearing these old old clothes? Do they return what the buy the next day or something? so they can go 2 days later and buy them all over again?!

prairiegirl said...

Good morning! I watched PFB kind of backwards last night. I got home just in time to see the last 40 min. and couldn't resist. Then Lifetime showed it again and so I watched the first part up to the point where I had come in at. That'd probably drive serious moviewatchers nuts, lol, but oh well!

I thought it was really good; seemed very realistic to me. The scene where Weaver's character goes to see the Rev. Whitsell because she blames herself for Bobby's death was the pivotal scene. It had tears streaming down my face because Sojourney did such an excellent job of relaying that anguish and pain.
I thought Austin did a great job and, can't help it either, m, he looked fantastic. I know it was a very serious movie, but I'm still looking at his legs all the time and then he was in those shorts. Isn't that terrible? That guy has gotten gorgeous. I can see more roles opening up for him because he seems very versatile. And I don't care if it's TV. There's alot of respectability in TV; altho I'm sure he'd rather do movies maybe? Isn't that what most actors want? But this Prayers for Bobby is something to be proud of working on. It will help alot of people, I think.

'Morning, flf! Lol on the shopping comment.

The red hair is interesting. I'm trying to remember if it was reddish in those PoP movie set pictures. Can't you take that color out whenever you want? It doesn't have to grow out. Maybe he likes it reddish. You can tell he had that hat on, tho. The imprint is still in his hair, lol.

And this need on Reese's part to always be looking now like she's wearing his stuff or items similar to his is getting to be a bit much. Once in awhile can be quirky, but now it's just plain annoying. That's the thing. It's always too overdone.

Bad set of pics, lol. They should've stayed home because it was sooo not worth their time to do these. Punch the timecard. In and Out. Time done. Talk about automatic pilot.

destiny said...

Jake should be frowning, running around with his beard shopping every few days like that while people are being attacked and dying for who they are. People like Jake are part of the problem because every time he steps out with Reese like that and goes along with a story in the tabloids about what a wonderful couple they are he is telling the world that it is bad to be gay. And the more people like that tell the world it is bad to be gay, it's that much harder--and slower--for change to happen.

And PFB isn't just something that happened in the bad old days, things like that still go on, and young people still still need role models they can look up to.

Anonymous said...

ITA Destiny. That is the main reason why I dislike Jake. I don't expect Jake to be a gay activist but bearding is wrong, whichever way you look at it. He has gone so far now, that my only wish is that he's outed someday.

destiny said...

I don't expect Jake to b e an activist or even come out of the closet. If he'd just decided to keep his private life private I'd have no problem.

I wonder if Jake thinks it somehow balances out because Austin is doing things like PFB?? IF he does, he's sadly mistaken, it doesn't. Far more people see what Jake is doing than will ever see PFB.

destiny said...

Same goes for BBM. Sadly the bearding has made it impossible for me to watch BBM. I'm not saying that is right, but it is how I feel. I can't watch him in that knowing what he has done since making the movie.
