Más que usted sabe

Cinco de Mayo is not Mexican Independence Day (Sept 16th) but a celebration of Mexico's victory over the French in the Battle of Puebla on May 5th, 1862.

This is a man

This is tequila

This is a man who's had too much tequila

Any questions?

Be wary of

Men who are shaped like tequila bottles

Or tequila bottles shaped like ....

And that's ........the more you know.

Happy Cinco de Mayo!

Oh my! I love this post, but then again, you knew I would since you have two of my favorite things, Austin and tequila.

Ok, so JJ is saying that Jake & Reese came from Brindisi via Paris in the pictures of them at LAX

Now that's interesting because to fly from Brindisi to either Orly or Charles De Gaulle airport in Paris on Alitalia you either have to switch planes in Milan or Rome.

Why would you do that? Why wouldn't you just either fly to LA from Rome, or go to Frankfurt like Meg talked about.

Something is rotten in the state of Denmark

It looks like Nailed is still unfinished from this interview with Jessica Biel.

I doubt they flew in from Paris. JJ isn't too hot on geography, didn't he post pics of Reeke's last European tour that showed them in Paris and he said it was Italy, or viceversa?

More BS LAX pics @ IHJ, LOL. Seems like an awful lot of luggage for 2 people staying what, 5 days? Plus there's the computer on Reese's arm and Jake's backpack. Do you suppose Jake got stuck with taking all the wedding gifts home? Oh that's right, Maggie and Peter live in NY, so that can't be it. Huh.

This picture of Austin in Mexico always cracks me up because it looks like he could tip over with a push with one finger.

You can kinda of imagine what's going on in his head.

I'm so drunk, damn will she ever shut up, i'm drunkied drunk drunk, why doesn't she stop talking, more tequila, need more tequila, stop talking stop talking stop stalking,(singing)i am so drunk, drunkie dur drunk drunk drunk, for the love of God shut up, oh tequila you are so quiet zzzzzz

LOL, love your post today, Special!! snicker!!!

Yeah, Austin def looks 3 sheets to the wind. And the boy is so darn pale, good grief. Put some color in those cheeks.

And let's face it. That whole wedding as far as Reeke was concerned was all kinds of fishy & very strange. Riderless bikes, making out (wellll, trying to look like you're making out, lol) with your mom right by your side, multi changes of clothes while bikeriding, personal business associates as escorts, vague/conflicting dates as to Reese's arrival & travel routes, and most & best of all, still waiting for a good, clear pic of Reese in that wedding courtyard.

I started looking at some of those LAX arrival pics this morning and for crying out loud, began to shake my head and wonder why??? Is Reeke starting to put together that infamously dreaded word,
entourage??

Now we have assorted, various business asst's, luggage/baggage porters sometimes also serving as bodyguards, and back in the day when Jake was allowed to be papped with the kids, we also had the nanny. I swear, I think Reese is aspiring to become another Angelina. Because besides the entourage, we have the attempted Tom Cruise move. The hand reaching out for the female's elbow as if to appear to be suddenly very protective. When Jake starts to constantly hold onto Reese's elbow, you will know that there are big aspirations to become another Brangelina.

lol

I'm sorry. I just had to. It's really getting comical. 16 pics when I checked this morning. For a redeye arrival at an airport. Nothing but luggage, airport personnel, entourage, and checkpoints.

Okay, quite full from the Cinco de Mayo meal!! It was wonderful!

LOL Special and PG.

Austin does look like he just wants some peace and quiet.

And love your observations on this whole trip PG. I might add that pr obviously got our memo and told Jake to haul all the luggage this time.

Kiki may have a point about Jake's career choices, especially when you remember Biel is another one who is probably bearding and has had her career go nowhere. Is it just a coincidence, or did they take on a risky project because they were not getting other work?

Ole

Well Meg, yesterday I sprayed my tea all over the monitor at your "twats" comment for Reeke at the airport. Seems to me the usage for that term quite common in the UK and rather than having a totally negative connotation, it's something that might be reserved for a friend who is doing something totally stupid.

Special, thanks for our Mexican Holiday, hope Jake and Austy are taking a few shots as time permits.

The world is over, the earth doesn't turn anymore:

"It looks like Nailed is still unfinished from this interview with Jessica Biel."

What!I can believe it, after all this time ??

Weird, one day it's fine, the other it's down! What's happen??
I read few time ago on Hollywood elsewhere, someone from Variety rumoured it to be in Cannes list , and the soundtrack was in preparation, you don't say such thing about a supposed unfinished movie, yes?? And during Jake/ russel meeting, both looked content and not depressed!
Pffffffff I am in bad mood now; I am sure it's rather a good new for many who are unsure about the script, but not for me.
please santa claus !!

As for Reese at the wedding, It's a real possibility she was the mysterious blond head on the right side of the screen ( and not the left lol ) BUT the mysterious man hat maybe was you know who so...
50/50 LOL

I don't think anyone had influence on Jake'choice for this movie! I think it's the kind of movie nobody would advice in fact lol , too risky.

Jessica Biel didn't proved she was a solid actress enough but I think she isn't that bad and choosing a project like this one is courageous IMO.

I think you do this kind of movie cause you haven't others good proposition yes, but good project are more and more rare unless you have a a suscription card whis Scorcese like Di caprio lol

so when you feel you have one you jump on it. Sometimes you are wrong on your judgment, sometime you are right.

Not everyone likes tequila. It usually bites me back before I finish my first margarita.

So something that's not tequila and not a Corona, a Michelada, kind of a like a Bloody Mary with beer and bubbles

Here's one from Malo in Silver Lake

Malo's Michelada

Makes one

Salt, for rimming
Lime wedges, for rimming and garnish
Ice
6 to 7 dashes Tapatio hot sauce
2 dashes Worcestershire sauce
3/4 ounce fresh lime juice
Pinch of Tajin Fruit and Snack Seasoning
One 12-ounce Mexican beer (Pacifico, Negro Modelo or Tecate)

1.Moisten the rim of a Collins glass with lime and dip it in salt.

2.Fill the glass with ice and add the Tapatio, Worcestershire, lime juice and
Tajin seasoning.

3.Top with beer and garnish with a lime wedge.

Not sure about this but at least HER new projects are much more interesting than Jakes.

"Is it just a coincidence, or did they take on a risky project because they were not getting other work?"

Not sure about this either but this film was the one I am interested in. Something different.

It was not Jakes fault that they had financial problems - no one could foresee this.

Today it is not easy to create successful films - no matter who is cast in it. Jessicas "Powder Blue" will go directly to DVD (and it has F. Whittaker and P. Swayze co-starring) or take "Parmassus" - playing in Cannes but no distributor yet.

Jake should pray and hope for "Brothers" being critically successful (it won´t be a box office hit) and Pop being the blockbuster Disney and Bruckheimer are expecting.....

Working with James Brooks, who is seen as a kind of living legend among real film freaks sounds much interesting to me than working on movies with non existing scripts and non existing directors.

Sorry Film Fan,

let's not discuss Reese's movies, everything about her is painfully boring.

destiny said...

Unfortunately it is getting a lot tougher to raise the money for an interesting film, as opposed to the big tent pole films and genre films like another formulaic romcom. Some studios are even losing interest in doing the Oscar-worthy films. Part of that is that indie films are a hard sell at the best of times, and let's face it, there is a lot of indie crap out there that also sounds all the same, and too many of them, and they've really hurt that end of the film business. There are weekends when 20-25 new films open in NYC--I can't keep up, so the end result is I don't go as often as I used to.

I do think Nailed sounds interesting, just wonder if money issues, as well as Russell's temper, is one of the reason these two are in it and not someone else. Or maybe the fact they are in it and don't have the names to pull in an audience hurt when things fell apart and they needed new financing.

I tried the tomato juice and beer drink a few years back, not my drink at all. I'll stick to the tequila, or beer straight up.

Maybe I am naive but I think O'Russel believe in them and Jake , Jessica believed in O'russel and in the project!
I don't know why there is financial issue for this movie whereas others little movie with no interest are released!

Capitol Films has overextended themselves financially to finance too many projects.

If you go back and read through Nikki Finke at Deadline Hollywood Daiy.com you can see the pattern of Capitol having financing problems.

They had a horror movie called Bad Meat that was shut during production, as wel as another movie called An Invisible Sign of My Own, (with America Ferrera).

A lot of times when a director goes out to getting money, he might know what the backers already have but doesn't know what other deals they are doing or are going to do in the future. Or who backs them.

It looks like Russell went into production assuming Capitol could back up their financing and found out during production that Capitol's backers a hedge fund shut down and left Capitol in the lurch.

No advice thanks said...

I don't have a negative opinion on Jakes movies. The fact they have not been a box office success means little to me, I think they have all been interesting picks including Nailed. The one I am not so sure about is actually Brothers since this movie has already been made recently and with very good critical success, so I don't know what's the need for a remake now. Pop sounds cool though I'll never figure out why they did not trim Jake beards into a goatee like in the game character.
As for Reese projects playing appears in the piggy nose movie or that dreadful 4 Christmases are not exactly Oscar caliber appearances are they? So give me a break, I don't think Jake has anything to learn from her advice about getting roles.

Hi everyone,
People.com has right now as their lead story more "inside details" of Maggie G. & Peter S's wedding, posted @ 1830:

Maggie Gyllenhaal and Peter Sarsgaard are famously private – and they kept their weekend wedding characteristically intimate, sources tell PEOPLE.

The longtime couple exchanged vows inside the cloister of a convent called the Convento di Santa Maria di Costantinopoli, a luxury bed and breakfast in Brindisi, Italy, before just 40 close friends and family members, including the bride's brother, Jake Gyllenhaal, and his girlfriend, Reese Witherspoon.

A family friend, whom a source says donned a top hat for the occasion, officiated at the half-hour ceremony, which took place at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday.

Later, guests mingled in the convent's garden, which features a pool – and then were treated to a sit-down dinner inside. The chef and his team brought a special kitchen to the convent in order to accommodate the banquet. Guests enjoyed Castel di Salve wines – from a winery in the nearby town of Lecce – with their meal.

A traditional Italian music group, Zimbo, entertained at the reception. "We played songs by Domenico Modugno like, 'Tu Si Na’ Cosa Bella Pe Me' (Translation: 'You Are a Beautiful Thing for Me') and the famous hit 'Volare,' " a member of the group tells PEOPLE.

The following day, the bride and groom, who are parents to 2½-year-old daughter Ramona, had brunch with family, including Jake and Reese. They later biked to the town where they were spotted doing some shopping, according to sources, and spent time at a secluded beach called Acquaviva, known for its mixture of fresh spring water and sea water.

What do you think of the couple's intimate wedding?

Whut? said...

Wait, who biked to town and spent time at a secluded beach called Acquaviva?! Maggie and Peter or Reeke?!

prairiegirl said...

Hmmm. Interesting. Of course, the wedding itself sounds beautiful.
But still interesting.

Because, of course, it needs to be mentioned that Reese was there. And that she accompanied Jake to the family brunch the next day. I wonder if the biking mentioned was the biking that we saw the pictures of? It would make sense since Jake was wearing dress shorts. But hard to know.

If Reese was in Milan on Friday, that sure made for a short weekend. Squeezing in two separate biking trips. I say two separate biking trips because everyone's wearing different clothes on each different trip.

Reekjoice! said...

The secluded beach was infested with paps!

prairiegirl said...

I know, Whut Said, it's not clear the way they phrased it. But following the trend of the lead paragraph sentence, you would think they are referring to Maggie & Peter (the newlyweds) being the ones biking and shopping, then going to the secluded beach. I love it. Everything's kind of vague and there's no way to tell for sure when certain pictures are taken.

You know, this to me is what makes deception such a nervewracking thing. Any later released detail can throw a wrench into the story you were trying to spin. I would always be worrying about covering tracks and every possible scenario.

people said...

It's quite possible that Maggie and Peter went cycling and went to the secluded beach seperately, they were seen shopping, Jake and Reese weren't. Maggie and Peter can avoid the paps, Jake and Reese no.

There are pics on IHJ of a few people on bikes that I assume were family members. One looks like Maggie but it's not her and another one of a girl who you reall can't see, Jake is in the shot.

prairiegirl said...

Yes, I would tend to agree, people. That's how it reads to me. Maybe the biking pics we saw on IHJ were another time.
Lol, that sure would make alot of biking trips, tho. Perhaps it's a very small village/town. Or maybe it was a "green" statement.

Hi everyone.. Kind of a bad night for me. It looks like I injured my back when I fell in Fla. I cant believe how much pain I am in right now. I actually had to leave work today and go directly to the DR. My back is going into a spasm which is really scary.

Also I have to worry about my job right now because we are short of help and my boss is threatening to force me to go part time if I dont get back to work. I feel like I am between a rock and a hard place. I know with this kind of pain I cannot work. First it was my hands and now my back. I def am off the rest of the week. If I am not back to work by Monday I am not sure what my boss is gonna do.
I am asking for a few prayers. It has been such a tough year so far.

Regarding the wedding, my guess is that the People story came from Reeke's pr, not Maggie's, and that is why the emphasis on Reeke. No mention of mom and dad or any other guests, Reese every chance they get....And the lack of other details is probably in part because Maggie would be unhappy if those kind of details were released.

Just stop it. Stop it already. It's not tough, it's not he-man, it's not sympathy inducing, and it's not impressive. And it's certainly not believable to all those who've seen the 764 other outings where it was all about getting that perfect rag cover & HW blog post.

Hey, well, here's a bright spot. "Blame It" is getting alot of airplay on VH-1. It's on their Top 20 Video countdown and it's on every morning while I'm getting ready for work. That's their time period when they play their most popular stuff. Over & over & over & over...lol. I'm glad for the mornings when Wings is on @ 0530 because VH-1 must show this Anvil promo thing 45 times per hour.

Back when that video came out & I wouldn't watch it, I didn't realize what the song was. But when it came on VH-1, I thought, Hey, I've heard that song!LOL. Blame it on the a.a.a.a.a.a.alcohol, blame it on the a.a.a.a.a.a.alcohol.

I shouldn't quote that one, tho. That's not the kind of lyric I want to be quoting. Better to sing ma ma ma maw....ma ma ma mawwww... or That's Not My Name!!

Okay, enough nonsense. Sorry to be so chatty this morning.

Tom, I hope you wake up this morning feeling a little better. It won't last forever. Take it from someone who's had a fair amount of back episodes. Once the pain starts to subside enough, walking is excellent for quicker recovery. Walking is the best thing, does it for me everytime, along with the ol' anti-inflammatory. Because walking stretches & limbers up those tightened muscles.

Okay, everyone have a nice day!

Hey Special, did you have too many Micheladas last night?

David Ogden Stiers comes out. Very interesting article about how he would have come out sooner but he was afraid it would hurt his career doing voices for Disney films.

Steirsxx

I thought this quote was particularly interesting:

A lot of my income has been derived from voicing Disney and family programming. What they might allow in a more known actor, they prefer not having to deal with in minor players.xx

He seems to be implying what I've often thought, that if an established, popular actor came out, HW would have to deal with it and would have a hard time not working with that person.

David Ogden Stiers said...

"From the late 1980s until about seven or eight years ago, you would find certain individuals coming up to you, me, and advocating the position that since we were doing family fare that it would be best were the actors to maintain a certain palatability to parents.

These parties likely had heard rumors or harbored suspicions about me and wanted to make sure no embarrassing incidents were forthcoming."

destiny said...

Another quote from that article:

Stiers adds: "I could claim noble reasons as coming out in order to move gay rights forward, but I must admit it is for far more selfish reasons. Now is the time I wish to find someone and I do not desire to force any potential partner to live a life of extreme discretion for me."

destiny said...

Of course Disney doesn't think gay parents and their children matter.

Way to go Jake, nothing like helping support the homophobes.

I know, I've still got the ol' hydrangeas. Good pics of William Fichtner are hard to find, lol. At least with all that searching last night, I learned how to spell his last name for sure.

You know, yesterday someone posted the interview with Jessica Biel and it mentioned Nailed not being done. That is something. How is it that you wrap up filming, send all your employees/actors on their merry way, and then months & months later it gets mentioned that the film isn't done yet?? What? Now, I don't know squat about movies at all, you guys know that, but even Cornfield Cathy here can make out that something is not right with that picture.

Good grief, how costly is that? Someone is losing alot of money or has lost alot of money on this. And that's if it gets finished & released at all. If it doesn't get released at all.....Has anyone heard of this kind of thing happening before? A movie announced completed but then it's really not? Or a movie completely filmed but never released? Holy cow, who has those kind of deep pockets?

post-production said...

... is often the longest part of the movie-making process. Editing is where the movie is made. The sound has to be mixed (and re-mixed). Sound effects and visual effects added. The entire composition of the film has to be decided. And you're generally working with what you got, unless (fortunately) you have the money for re-shoots. But even those will have to be edited, mixed, graded (colorized). A soundtrack needs to be added.

You're only about a third done with your movie once you wrap the shoot.

I have never liked Disney, but the more I hear, the more I think I will just sit out any of their movies, including PoP.I grew up on a complete diet of Disney, starting with drive in movies of all those family ones:The Boatniks, The Love Bug, etc etc and watching on TV the old reruns of Spin & Marty on The Mickey Mouse Club. (I LOVED Spin & Marty!). While my niece & nephew are growing up, I have gone through it all again with Hannah Montana, Zack & Cody, etc. And then I really loved High School Musical 1 & 2. But this was just before I learned about all this behind-the-scenes shenanigans of theirs and the way they do business.

And now Disney leaves a real bitter taste in my mouth and I feel really guilty for having recently bought Swiss Family Robinson, Pollyanna, & Summer Magic on dvd. All I'm doing is contributing to their silly empire.
I have been an enabler and yes, I hang my head in shame. But, from here on out, I can choose to not send my money their way.

See, I know some people don't like the ideas of boycotting or at least if you are, aim it at the correct party. So, I at least will try to aim it at the right party because as a consumer, that's the only power I have. They don't care if you verbalize your displeasure or take down the posters on your walls, so to speak.

No, you have to hit 'em where it hurts. And where it hurts and where it only matters to them is in the hip pocket, where that wallet is. That's what American business is all about. The bottom line. So you have to show your displeasure by taking your money elsewhere. Enough people do it and the message starts to get across because no one wants to see their stock go down. Because that means the bank account & monthly bonuses start to dwindle and they might have to start watching their budgets.

As the little people, we do hold some power in that regard, don’t ever think that we don’t.
