Acting 101 - Blocking
Blocking people. It's all about the x and oh's or oh no's. Movie make outs - kissing is more about the good blocking to the camera. Who wants to kiss when H1N1 flu is still out there. You could be a little bit of a hypochondriac and you maybe working with a person who owns a pig. It may not be rational but it can get you out of lot of stuff. Planned play position. Where you put your defensemen, sorta. You just have to make it look like you are doing something. The way your tilt your head or position your body. You don't even have to like the person you just have to stand or sit close enough and tuck or tilt to help with the angles.
Today class we have two actors show the movie magic of blocking. Usually such height differential and hats would be a hindrance but here they are used to the potential advantage. Use what you got.
The key is that one of the two must be aware of where the camera is at all times. They can call out the audibles if necessary usually the one who doing that already.
See the approach ... on the count of 8
Feet together
and cross
and step
watch... the... feet - - feet... position... is important.... hit your marks
Feet are parallel facing each other as they get closer but then actor turns his upper body and a head tilt just enough. And there it is movie magic or he's just trying to show off the booty, ok maybe just pockets of his jeans. 
Because he has put himself between them and the camera it looks like something but with no one looking from the other side you will never know if he is just blowing a Cool Ranch Dorito burp or whistling. And no cootie germs bonus!

Remember voting is still open for OMG movie club and JFC discussion till tomorrow morning. Voted yesterday, you can vote again today.
We've got some movie options but are always open for more. We'll put the movie titles up for the vote tomorrow.
What that whole interaction points out is that Reese is working and Jake is not, still. I am expecting a pr blurb about how they have decided to alternate work schedules so they don't have to be apart so much. Watch for it.
Or it might be setting up for the Reese is so busy as a single working mom to handle all of that and Jake. Because the kids come first. She's not just America's Sweetheart, she's America's Working Mom.
I wonder how come Reeke PR decided they needed to up the public PDA. For a 1 1/2 years all we got was hand holding and now we get kissing, neck nuzziling and hugging. Reeke still looks uncomfortable with the PDA, but is their PR having them do this because there are still so many non believers they are trying to convert or is it ground work for Reeke getting married.
Wondering it has been a gradual growth of events leading to next summer and the opening of Disneys PoP. It will elevate def to an engagement before then and many wedding rumors. Whether they marry or not we will have to see.

"Princess of Persia" must be a very average film for them to have to go for publicity by flogging it's star's private life. What did Bruckie call him? "beautiful & hot"? Geez!
You don't do this for a movie a year away. This is about Reese. It's all about Reese. Ryan is getting back from Cannes, Abbie got good press and buzz. That can't happen.
And you forget it's a holiday weekend. Standard Ops. You don't have to be there you just have make appear that you were or will be.

pics of Austin looking at Jake, I recall an insider saying that they took one look at each other at the TDAT audition and could not keep their eyes off each other. It really shows<.
I remember that too. And yes it does show. And when you look through the premiere pictures, eventhough there are no pictures of them together, you can see when Jake sees Austin somewhere. You can see it in his face, the difference in his eyes and smile.
I found it odd that Ryan and Abby left Cannes on Monday, I thought her film and her performance was praised and was in the mix for an award. You would think she would want to hang around until the awards were announced.
Or maybe with reports about his behaviour over there was too embarrassing and she decided to leave early, they didn't look too thrilled in the pics on Monday at LAx, also there was a Tuesday night sighting of Ryan in NY sans Abby.
Don't think Abby is too thrilled now, no need for Jake and Reese's PR to do anything.
I'ms sorry Adam lost, but not surprised. Not sure how much homophobia played into it, although I'm sure there were a lot of "Christians" and homophobes dialing for Kris. I heard some interviews on NPR this morning, the gay writer who wrote the article for EW thought it was an upset, and that Adam was the only thing that made the show bearable this year, but didn't opine why he thought it went the way it did.
A writer from Out said they didn't see homophobia in it, just the usual AI tendency to vote for the underdog and the blander candidates, plus people who had backed the guy voted out last week throwing their votes to Adam. I tend to agree with the latter. One reason I've never watched the show much in the past is because the music and performers usually don't interest me, and Adam was definitely not in that mold.
In the end it doesn't matter, because like many of the men who have won, in a few years it will be "Kris who" and Adam's career will be just fine. If Adam and Kris really are friends, I bet even Adam is not so disappointed that Kris gets to have his moment.

I admire Reese Witherspoon and wonder why in the world she would agree to be Jake's "whatever"? Did Ryan do such a number on her that she lost all desire to "love" again? They do "look" well together—and I guess in Hollywood that's about as good as it gets.

There are many good actors - only small number of them is using tabloids and gossip sites PR.
I think Adam will be just fine. He will get many offers. He won't have to do that AI song as his first single. And don't the winners have to promote certain products too? He may be better off.
They all use tabloids and gossip sites and PR at some time in their career. Even if its for a charity event. You have to. You have to get your name and face out there, even if its just coming up in your career they all have.

Man, Special, this post today is hilarious.
Just a couple of things real quick.
1) LOL, I was so hacked when I hit the shower, I didn't need the ol' exfoliating sponge. I scrubbed that washcloth hard enough, I exfoliated with simple ringspun cotton! The gal who sleeps above me probably heard me muttering up a storm.
2) I think everyone is making good & valid points. For some reason, I do think this is still all about Reese, but he doesn't need to go along with it. So yeah, there probably is a hidden agenda.
3) All the same, Reeke is still fake. His body still looks awkward, leaning from the upper body first kind of how I do with that older gentleman at my old church, lol.
4) I like wondering & Cannes comments, too, because you guys make good points. To be fair, we do have to think about all angles and Cannes, you're making a point that I was thinking, too, while I was scrubbing away. But then again, like you said, Wondering, why ram it up after two years of no PDA. There's got to be a reason. Their hormones just didn't now kick in, give me a stinking break. We're not blind or stupid here.
5) Which leads me to my final conclusion: this High Gear mode tends to make me dig in my heels all the more. I think I"m going to have to lay on my Jaustin Talk all the more heavier & make PR get out the sick buckets.
LOL, I"m serious. I may have to do some photo ops of my own when I go up East. I wish I could expand, but I've got to go.
I happened to look at these pictures before coming here this AM and you are spot on. I felt like a director was in the wings yelling action and cut. I found them reassuring. Why? No Austin smile evident. Jake just can not fake the glee when he sees Austin no matter how hard he tries to display it for another. 2. body language. These are not lovers kissing.
I also agree that Jake is just a bit player in the Reese PR campaign that started around her divorce. Actually, the best thing that ever happened to Toothy is R Pattison. I would summarize Jake's fan base right now as totally indifferent. Ted's world is overtaken by the new it guy and Toothy comments are lost in the avalanche.
I agree that stars need pr, but there are many ways to go about it. There is absolutely no need for a 24/7 shomance and/or becoming tabloid fodder.
Just to take one example, Sophia Bush. Regularly seen at charity events and fashion shows. Rarely seen with whomever she is dating at the moment, even at said events.
Z. Quinto, K. Reeves, M. Damon, to name a few others.
And speaking of Quinto, there were a number of comments on JJ from "former JG fans" cheering him on.
And to me Jake is increasingly looking like someone who is hanging out with Reese because he has nothing else to do, especially in the new pictures. It has that stay-at-home unemployed hubby visiting the wife at work feel. How exactly does that help his career.
Sophia's been in the tabloids. She's hooked up with half the guys on OTH. She dates Nathan now. She goes to everything cause she wants more attention than Chad and rest of the cast.
"come on", sure he is, no doubt. That's just it. There's no doubt here. Because it wouldn't surprise me a bit that since they were going to do this little show, that PR said "And hey, Jake, while you're at it, you need to actually get your lips on hers? Getting your head on her shoulder up near her jaw just doesn't cut it, babe". That last PDA in Italy was subpar when it came down to it. Reese can do it. He can't pull it off.
At first I was going to agree with you, Destiny, but actually, this is the second photo op in about 4 weeks. They have pretty good breaks in between and it's just that we haven't many solos of him lately. We're just not seeing him all those other times.
I don't know, perhaps there was too much testosterone vibe going on with Jake and his little blue shorts since we're not getting anymore of him with those of the male persuasion. Those blue shorts have been getting him into too much trouble. So, who's left? It's like all he does is hang out with girls. Reese. Mom. And all their female PR assistants/Girl Fridays.
You know, now that I think about it. I think Reese may have her movies mixed up. She thought it was "Never Been Kissed"! Where's Drew?!
Look how they're practically on homeplate. I do need to call them out on one thing. How come they're not glaring at the paps on this one? Let us wonder about this. Let's see. Jake glares at them on the sidewalk. At the airport. At the car "Don't touch the car". But here, in all their glory, they both seem, why, absolutely oblivious of the paps because they see no one else but each other.
LOLLL. Seriously, at homeplate on the field? If they wanted all that so coveted privacy that they value, he would've waited for her in the dugout & then really laid one on her. I look for these pics to be in an upcoming Us Reekly.

During my formation I met someone completely intoxicated by egyptology. He is able to talk about it night and day and knows all pharaons dynasties by heart, it's simply impressive! Otherwise you have THE scandal "Antéchrist" from Lars von Trier with critics up and critics down.
I read a Charlotte Gainsbourg interview and she said she wouldn't probably do again an experience like this, well promising then lol
To end I wish Pedro Almodovar win! His movie is unanimly hightly praised and I am a fan of him.

You know if the Reeke team really wanted pictures like these to look real and genuine, they wouldn't release the "process" photos; the however many shots it takes to secure one or two good ones for the magazine articles. The kissing shot, on its own, out of nowhere would have more impact. Hypothetically speaking of course; Reeke never look like the real deal.
The shots of Jake watching from the dugout are just so set up. He looks more like the dad in these - not helped by the fact that Reese looks 12. :P

I just took an early lunch and ran a fool's errand. I ran over to where they were having the CW upfronts, but I left later than planned, took longer to get there, and then spent some time in the wrong place before figuring out it was all at the back entrance of the venue. Sigh. I saw some people jumping into limos that I had no idea who they were. Most of the fans left, except some small die-hard groups, I talked to them and they were OTH fans, and they said they had not seen one person from OTH enter or leave. Then after waiting a couple of minutes, someone came out and said, "that's all."
Oh well, at least it was a beautiful day to be running around, instead of surfing the net during lunch.
Jake can stand on homeplate with Reese until the cows come home, doesn't change the fact that the only one in this triangle who has rounded all of Jake's bases and slid into fifth is Austin.

Meg, at least according to my "sources" from my fool's errand to the upfronts today, Austin and the other case memebers were not at the upfronts.
Speaking of which,OTH Fan, when you say Sophia has been in the tabloids, can you describe the coverage? Was it a multi-page spread complete with arranged pap photos of the happy couple in restaurants, on vacation, etc? Or was it just a photo of Sophia and/or a blurb? If I'm wrong I'm wrong, but I've never seen her do anything like Reeke. If you're still around I'd love to know exactly what you've seen.
Also, my point wasn't that someone like Sophia isn't out there promoting herself, my point is that at least as long as I've been aware of her, and from what I've seen, she is using herself, not her relationships, to promote herself. I applaud stars who take that route for pr. It may just be the sites and the random tabloids I've seen, but, for example, in the two years she was dating Jon Foster I only saw one set of papped photos of the two of them.
It's funny, some of the trolls used to criticize Austin on the grounds that he was only with Jake for publicity. Now those same trolls are probably the ones defending Jake who is the real one using a relationship for publicity.
Do all movie sets have such crappy security that allow paps within shooting distance, or is it just the aets of Jake and Reese movies that seem to have that problem?
I see things being filmed in NYC all the time. I've never seen a pap hanging out, not even when Angelina was filming near my office and causing quite a commotion.
the amounts of times reesy has been photoed on that blinking sports field make me think that this film may be having problems with financing and she's desparately trying to drum up some much needed buzz. Maybe that why poor Jake got dragged along for the rather awkward smooch session. Interestingly it doesn't seem that these pics are being picked up many places, but I suppose we'll just have to wait and see.
Meg, I was looking at it on IMTB or whatever that's called (I know that's not the right combination of letters, but you know) and there's no firm info on it. I don't even see a name on the movie yet. It stars Ben Stiller & Reese, and then possibly some other actress and then there's nobody else listed. It's just called A Project of somebody somebody, two names starting with a c. LOL, aren't I a big help?! snicker!!

Speaking of bad, Special, you are spot on about these pictures. In all of them, he's standing not only a good distance back, but his left shoulder is way back. Then he goes down for the ol' smackeroo and all of a sudden, that entire shoulder & upper body do a pivot and block the shot! What the heck!! And actually, it doesn't affect me now whether or not they're actually smooching, but when you do look at it? Look at the matchup of where their mouths should be versus where they are. She's flatfooted and so is he. He's a ton taller than her. And look at where her mouth should be lining up. It kinda lines up more with his chin than where his mouth probably is.
Plus, he was the only one in the dugout and so I wonder if there was no one in the dugout when he came out. No one on the other side to testify where such said kiss actually took place.
lol. Man, they wouldn't be so silly as to fake it, would they? Shoot, gotta do the photo op, just go ahead and stamp one on, man! Just do it.

Hi guys, super disappointed about Adam not winning AI last night, but like others I'm not surprised.
I decided to take a break from looking at Reeke pics and it's certainly lifted my mood. Even if they were for real this pairing would still bore me.

I dont know anything about the movie's plot line, nor do I know that much about softball, but based on the the pics of Reese practicing that keep showing up, she looks horribly miscast. Just Jared people are tired of her and the movie is not even made yet.
I've paid attention to Sophia Bush only because we have similar coloring. This makes for good clues for makeup tips and flattering colors. She is always well put together and dressed appropriate to the occassion. I've never seen anything trashy written about her.
I find the pics of Jake peering through the fence creepy. Largely bad lighting I know, but they are not flattering to him.

Sad, it doesn't look like anyone from OTH was there. I think the CW was focusing on selling their three news shows the new Melrose Place, Vampire Diaries,and The Beautiful Life.
With only 9 shows on the CW network, they should have plenty of space and resources to promote Austin and the new cast coming on OTH.

I hear so many people talking about how horrendous the work place has become. Seems like when times are tough companies and managers can treat and dump on folks big time because everyone is afraid of losing their jobs. My companies is doing everything poosible to get every possible thing they can from as few employees as possible. More work.

It goes along way away from what the LDS church has preached about homosexuality. And it will make an impact because the Osmonds have be the most famous family to those outside of LDS community.

I get Quinto's and Lambert's reticence completely. Interesting that Ted is being so out there with Quinto. And while I agree it is up to individuals as to when to come out, as long as they're not part of the "problem", I totally disagree with Ted's reasoning. I feel like he's being an apologist and giving power to the homophobes by saying people should just accept it and say nothing.
If nobody ever stood up in the face of such talk we'd never had had Stonewall, Harvey Milk, AIDS protesters, gay marriage in five, almost six states, and on and on.
Oh, and half of O'Reilly's audience=what, roughly 500 thousand to a million old homophobes who are probably still lamenting the fact that women have rights and black are still not at the back of the bus?
Something I just observed on IMDB, Reese's star meter rating has plunged to 199; in the column showing news stories related to her they have a link to an imdb page that shows he After Elton poll, and how Jake didn't top it as in previous years. And on that page, in the "related" stories was one about Adam Lambert possibly losing because of his sexuality. Hmmmm....

Not much interest in Jake nowadays. I just wonder on a daily basis what he gets out of this deal, if he's happy with the way things are going and how long this will go on. He used to be the hottest it guy in HW and is now one of the biggest bores. I also wonder why both Ryan and Jake became mere sidenotes once they got involved with Reese. Why must she be the sole center of attention? What does she do that sucks the hotness out of the guys in her life? Also who wants to be a fan of a perfect woman? I just don't understand that image. I tend to be attracted to/ become a fan of stars that have faults and seem human but still manage to shine in their field. Perfect people leave me cold and are just not interesting.
Anyway. Hope things will be different with Quinto and Lambert. My friend tried to get me watching AI but I didn't and now regret it. Also I know the film club topic was on another thread but I'm throwing the new Star Trek out for consideration. It would be easily available to see and we could compare the male bonding dynamics with TDAT.
