Instead of Jake running all over Pittsburgh to find coffee, thought would help him out with a list of places to check out.
Kiva Han - named after the world’s first recorded coffee house, Kiva Han, reputedly opened in Constantinople (Istanbul)in 1471. Funky, quiet good for reading scripts, txts, etc, it does have a hangover burrito (do you know anyone who has hangovers and likes burritos?) and if you just can't stand it, Starbucks is right across the street the coffee ogres they are.
61c Cafe - Located in Squirrel Hill it was name on of the 100 great things about Pittsburgh in 2006. Let's be honest that's a tough thing to do for a coffee shop in a city where The Steeler, Penguins, Primanti Brothers, Pitt, Iron City Beer, Perogies, are dominate. Great coffee and inhouse baked good straight out the owner's grandmother's recipe box.
Beehive Coffee - Pinball and Coffee. You bet. Their decor is a funky mix, some retro, some modern, and all of it mismatched. The staff are unconventional, and friendly. Hmmm this reminds me of suspenders, tie bars, and shabby sweaters. They also have an Artomat. A reinvented vintage cigarette vending machine that now gives art instead. But word to the wise they have webcams, including a bathroom one, to see if you actually do wash your hands.
Quietstorm great coffee, brunch,music and its Pittsburgh's favorite vegetarian/vegan place again and again. And it has milkshakes. That reminds me of a hurricane and an actor who couldn't work the milkshake machine at a McDonalds. Wait back to coffee. And how can you not love a place that has an owl in it logo.
La Prima Espresso is one of the best espresso and cappuccinos in the Three Rivers located in The Strip District and all over the Pittsburgh area. traditional classic Italian coffee and sweets.La Prima roasts its own beans as well, and supplies coffee to many of the better Pittsburgh restaurants.
And the there Nicholas Coffee Company They've been roasting and selling gourmet coffee beans in Pittsburgh since 1919. Their Market Square landmark store is in downtown Pittsburgh has daily roasted coffee, and also offers teas from all over the world. And who wouldn't like the easy anagram of Nicholas.
Speaking of the tea.
Te Cafe Pittsburgh's best for loose teas. Located in Squirrel Hill, it has over 100 varietals so there must be something that will substitute for the jones for Intelligentsia's King Crimson .
So you see there would be no need for all the those photos of you and blondes (legal or otherwise) trying out different coffee places. You and brunettes, bring it on. Annie, Josh, your other co-stars, .....big Southern stirrers with funky accessories...you get the idea.

LOL wouldn't the kids be happy to see Stepfather Jake when he meets them at the yogurt shop?! None of them come near him, going in or out. In fact one of them walking in, Jake is on one side in front of Deacon but Deacon is leaning away from Jake and crouched into his mom. "Stepfather Jake" uh huh, right.

Interesting discussion about the yogurt pictures. Twisted you bring up some interesting points. Exactly about the two coffee and the 2 in the bag. And the two in the bag might not be coffees, but other drinks in cups. It does look like he met them there as scheduled appt. And family friendly vibe is so not there.
It looks like Ava really doesn't want to be there. And she is never photographed with Reese by herself anymore. I think she is not a fan being a photoop anymore.
And the thing that is interesting to me is she looks like she is wearing a uniform. It looks more after school meeting than Sat. spent together.

With youon the analysis Special. Looks to me that it was a scheduled meet for pics that didn't really come off. Maybe Jake didn't realise that Reese was going to drag those poor children along, hence the not so happy family vibe.

I'm surprised how Deacon stays away from Jake, moving away and holding hands with his mom. It's like he's not even Uncle Jake anymore. He's just a tall man that mom knows.

The Flynet pics were dated for 9/3 a Thursday not a Saturday, where did you get spending a Saturday together? In one pic Deacon looks like he see's the paps. It was meant to be a afterschool op, otherwise they would have went home and had Ava change her clothes.
Wasn't this the same day there was that Video of them at Mozza and the paps were yelling about weding dates or was that the night before?
For all that people think NY is a great place, there can be a real sameness to the food and coffee places, which this post illustrates. The Beehive sounds like a lot of fun (except for the cameras). I love pinball, and that is just not something you see too much of anymore, and certainly not in a coffee shop.
I'll have to check out the photos later, but interesting observations about them. I wonder why the change in attitude again. And no wonder they didn't want them released, sounds like there was only one passable one in the bunch.

Okay, I just went and looked even thought I should be doing other things. Ava really does not want to be there, Jake and Deacon are also not looking to happy either. Gotta say it, it is just wrong to do that to kids, especially for someone like Ava who is probably at that awkward age, realizes it, and probably doesn't want to be photographed.
everytime I see pictures of Ava I cringe, you just remeber being that serious, slightly geeky girl with glasses that the nasty girls in school are just waiting to pic on. there's nothing that saddens me more about Reeke than the way Reese allows her kids to be pimped out, and how Jake seemingly goes along with it.

All I had seen on Flynet was that first pic and I thought wow, he's really walking far ahead of them.
Now I see these and it's painful to look at, isn't it? Jake looks awful. Reese even looks grim. Deacon is leaning way into her. And why is everyone leaving Ava in the dust?
I mean, when you look at it, that one pic Ava is still coming around the car still on the street and no one's hanging back to make sure she joins the group alright? Come on. She looks so alone in these pictures; I really feel for her.
I think her glasses are sweet. They remind me of my niece. My niece is only 9 and she got her glasses last year. LOL, my nephew is always flaunting the fact that he's the only one out of all of us who doesn't need any optical assitance yet.

Bullying is great for kids. It builds character.
I just think its interesting that she is not seen with her mom by herself, which makes me think that biggest problem is between her and Reese and going out,because she knows why Reese does it. Sometimes I think Reese uses Jake coming as a way to get Ava to come.
Pinball and coffee works for me, but its not really the typical quiet "international coffee" moments
Pittsburgh is not going to be super refined like Jake might be used to, it's grittier, but there are pockets of some funky arty places. Think Austin would really like it.
IMO Jake had to go to PIT for the "lover/gf" role auditions but will be back in LA/Anaheim tonight.

It is funny how we don't ever get JJ posts on Reese/Ava shopping. At least not for awhile now. It's always Reese and Deacon. But Deacon has been at that age where he really has no say in anything, lol, and he's not going to be aware or care about any outside interferences.
Whereas Ava is at that age where she knows. She sees and she knows. Plus, if she's anything like her mama, I wouldn't be surprised if that little girl already has quite the mind of her own.

I'm awkward in Pittsburgh
Jake Gyllenhaal came through my checkout at Whole Foods. I thought I was going to vomit in my own hand. So, I made the dude who was bagging for me take the order by saying "I gotta go."
I've only every seen two movies he's been in. It's not like I am a giant fan or something.

I love this version of One More Cup of Coffee. I've seen them live, but never heard them do this one, and it's not on any of the cds I have (I don't think!).
Were those yogurt pics the ones that were labeled exclusive initially. They are too dour so I guess they didn't sell them after all. People never seem to smile around Reese, unless it is a posed smile. Agree, this is not a family, just a group who happen to be together.
I am waiting to see if Jake's accent is revealed at this Disney thing and whether it is his voice or a dubbed one.

Good morning! It's Friday! woohoo! There's hardly a better workweek feeling, is there? I am so glad to be missing work this week. That place has been wearing me out mentally although I do miss the new cube mate. He's funny. Always makes it interesting and he's fun to work with. That's just invaluable in an office, you know?

Sex and the City 2 comes out the same day as PoP.
There was nothing in this week's US but Abbie Cornish's movie opens a week from today so they may be planning a full scale Reeking to coincide with that. All good Reeking has pictures from a few different situations so the yogurt pictures may be held for that. Remember the France fireworks pictures and how they held onto them for the Jake Moves In story.

I saw a poster for Abbie's movie this morning, she looked gorgeous.
I went to walk at my park this morning and what a fantastic walk, what a great morning it was/is, lol.
There's a roundabout next door where I live and I use that exit alot. They had small American flags circling the grass/fountain in the center and that sight put a big lump in my throat. It was beautiful.
Then while I was in the throes of my walk, I happened to catch a glimpse of something scurrying up the pathway ahead. I just figured it was a raccoon or possum and so I kept going. I get up to the top of that small hill and what did I see but this flock of little wild turkeys!!!!
I could not believe it! They were running and then they stopped for a moment and I hurried up & counted seven of them. Then I talked to them and they started running again! LOLLLL! Have you ever seen little wild turkeys running from behind? It's hilarious! They waddle!! Their little tails go back and forth and they look like they're dancing. It was just one of the funniest things I have ever seen.
And then, what happened? Pop! Out came an eighth one from the prairie grasses right in front of me and he went bee-bopping after them, just a' running as fast as his little legs would take him.
LOL! I felt so bad and I told them I wasn't going to hurt them. When I got up further, I could still see one of them in the grasses where they had veered off to.
They weren't males, I guess because they were all real slender.
I just was elated to have seen that. What a joy it is to come across God's creatures in their natural habitat like that. I felt like an intruder and now I am afraid I'm going to think of them at Thanksgiving time.

They have that Concert for New York City on dvd now; I've seen it at Barnes & Noble. I just loved the way that Macy Gray sang "With a Little Help From My Friends".
I also remember Melissa Etheridge having so many problems with her equipment and I think her microphone but that gal just kept plugging away. She was a real professional because so many other artists would've just gotten fed up.
I also remember how phenomenal The Who were during that concert. I'm not a Who fan but that performance of their's was outrageous, it was so fantastic.

Have to laugh about the turkeys. This area once housed a large population of wild turkeys and every once in a while a large group of about 15 -17 will walk though our neighborhood. They are not very graceful and I've seen them "fly" over our roof to get to the back yard. They sort of hurl themselves over the roof.
Post on AT re blind vices. I guess they are getting close to the archive they have been working on. It's photos of people who are vicers, including Jake of course, who is referred to as whipped. Ted also says "not only do we never make this naughty stuff up (ever)", so I guess that answers some allegations that have been thrown at him.

We know people will ask us the inevitable questions about his sexuality, and all we can say is that as you have read, we didn't ask about it, and never would. Both Ted and Lisa feel he is a people person, he seems comfortable around people, and if we were to guess, we'd say his capacity to love is probably endless, but neither of us knows anything, or can shed any further light on this topic, nor do we want to, he has his own life to live and we both hope he is happy no matter what he chooses to do.
