Eyes how they twinkled... dimples how merry

Christmas is about the joy and spirit of the season, the gift given to mankind, about being with family friends and loved ones, giving, charity and Peace and Good Will Toward Men.

But you got admit everyone loves presents. Whether they came from your family, a friends, or that special guy in red. And there is something about giving that special present and seeing someone's face when they open it, as a parent, a partner, a friend, your heart can't help grow a little bigger and get a little warmer.

It's Christmas Eve and quickly closing in on Christmas, and hopefully Jake and Austin have theirs all brought but if not here are some suggestions if they need to get some last minute things, I am sure that basics got covered, wonder if there is new bike gear under that tree?

Jake's gotten tea pots before but what about this tea infuse that lets the loose brew and in flip gives you the tea in your cup and all the leaves stay put.
We know that the kitchen is the heart of the home, home is where the heart is, and who has Jake's, so what about this special cutting board?
And for going green and the resident gardner? How about an indoor pro composter that has no odor, worms, bugs or fuss. What better way to say you feeling than a pro composter. ; D
Something I can totally see Austin grabbing for Jake is the Monkey Peeler. Why? Well, its orange, (go Longhorns), it's weird and just for the goofy grin Jake would get everytime he opened the drawer. And how can you go wrong with a monkey?

Or maybe spice things up with some spices from the Spice Station in Silver Lake. And we know he loves salt after talking about that book about history of salt he read so maybe some Salish alderwood-smoked salt, or Cyprus Black Lava salt or Merlot-infused sea salt from California

We all know that Jake is nursing a brokenheart, sure that if these don't ease his ache sure that Austin can find something that will.
Now Austin, a writer, cinephile, proud of his roots, and a man with a style all his own.

A subscription Granta a literary magazine that highlights new writers perhaps. Some of the best writers of the new millenium had their work highlighted first in Granta's pages. Talk about feeding that creative need.

Or hooking horns in style with Breitling Longhorn Watch for the guy who loves watches?

Now you might think of London and making Wimbledon, or that Austin said he listened to Waterloo Sunset when he was making Glory Road. But it is actually for the best record store in Austin called Waterloo Records.
Speaking of Austin, bet this globe would be a big hit at home, not for just the Austin skyline, but when you shake it the bats that have made their home under the Congress St. bridge fly around.
Something special maybe to give and receive, the Paul Newman Box set, of all of Newman's movies. Something for the cinephile for Austin and Jake have the chance to share with him about his godfather.

And after all these years how you know there are gifts to share together

Like custom antique map cufflinks or a map pendant. Of a hometown, special sentimental spot, new home, or where someone is while they're apart. And the cuff links can be from two separate places, like Wilmington and Montreal, or LA and NY, or Austin, Morocco, the options are endless.

Something appreciated like art. Maybe a lacquered photo piece from Wilmington artist from Stevie Mack or something from NY or LA.

And what about something the whole flock to enjoy.
From the smallest to the tallest.

How can you not suggest a bird feeder? A Blue Moon bird feeder for this group of bird lovers who have built quite the nest. Big and little tweets alike. Pretty and it looks like candy too.
Speaking of birds, how can you not forget this one? Big Bird. With 40 years of Sesame Street on DVD.

Or maybe the Indie Rock Coloring Book, that has pages of their favorite bands like Rilo Kiley, The Shins, MGMT, Devendra Banhart and others, something to color together and listen to their friends play and the proceeds all go to charity. And there is no judging if you go outside the lines.

Remember some of your favorite presents? Birthday, Holiday, Anniversary? Sometimes it's the memory that last so much longer than the gift itself.

So here's to a wonderful Christmas. Hope that during this holiday season that everyone finds joy, peace hope and love.

Happy Christmas to all and to all a Goodnight!

The best way to mend a broken heart is have Austin dress up in a hot nurse's uniform.

Just guessing said...

I think Jake wears the panties in the family.

I remember running towards the mass of presents under the tree and there was the biggest most beautiful doll lying under it that I had ever seen. She was so big that the box she was in couldn't be wrapped. She must have been at least 6 feet tall. (in reality she was probably 2 feet long at most lol). I carried that doll around with me for years. She was my favorite one. I even remember her name: Dolly.

Interesting about the pr denial. It is pretty unusual for something like that. So many possibilities, and I have no clue which explanation is right.

1. Having a good time post-reeke breakup not allowed.

2. Gay charity.

3. Dancing and lack of girls sounded too gay.

4. Partying not in keeping with image, especially to be out hanging with celebs and not friends and family on birthday.

5. Was not there and wanted people to think he was with family/Austin.

It is going to take some tome to see how this shakes out and what image we are going to get. Hoping for ambiguity, but fear it will be eligle ladies man about town after appropriate amount of mourning for reeke.

I agree Destiny. I think Jake will be playing the field for a while. Not thrilled with it but It sure will be better than reeke.
Gotta make Disney and those heteros happy. Money Money Money!!
I think Jake will be happier. Should be eay for him to pull off. A deep voice and a couple of dates.

See that Tom and Destiny haven't given up their Jake hate for Christmas.

Bwwaaaaaahhhh!! Special, that was an excellent, excellent shopping excursion you did for the boys. I hope they take note - there's only about 4-5 shopping hours left, depending which coast they're on.

Books. Tea brewer. Texas Can Opener. LOL. That was really entertaining; I enjoyed it a ton.

Man, I am telling you, it's a zoo out there. My family is split up for the first time ever this Christmas. My sister is with Mom at Mom's house. My brother & his family are hunkered down in Wichita, trapped by snow, sleet, whatnot. I'm up north with 3 peeing & pooping dogs and I am not going anywhere until this storm is over, which means I'm probably stranded here now until the 26th, after the trucks get out.

It's not doing anything yet, just constant drizzle & rain, 33 degrees and it's just a mess out there. The mutts were just about out of dog food & treats so I went to go get that stuff, one last gift card and food & water for myself.

Hen House grocery store was a ZOO!! It was hard not to buy everything in sight. I finally put back the 16 oz bottle of eggnog and instead opted for the Edy's Peppermint Ice Cream for my Christmas treat. Very, very hard to pass up that slice of Tippins Strawberry/Rhubarb pie but the $2.99 price tag made my decision after seeing what else was in my basket. I was not anticipating being stranded like this so I had to buy some real food. Stouffers Chicken Pot Pie. YEAHHHHH MAN!!
lol. Sad, isn't it?

Pot Pie and some leftover chips and salsa from home. Cheese slices to give Maizie & Libby their pills in.

This will be a Christmas to remember, that's for sure. I think that's an Amy Grant song. Luckily I have a bunch of Christmas dvd's and a .99 cent microwave pkg of butter popcorn. And my laptop.

And 3 nutty dogs.

Nice song selection I did not even recognize Garfunkel, but Josh Groban's version is my favorite.

Re the denial, if Jake really wasn't there it was probably just to set the record straight. How many times have we seen Jake's name listed as slated to be attending an event but he does not show. They just use an invited celebrities name to get others to attend. The details about his behavior were very specific though, which is odd. Personally, I think this was another case of his incompetent management which tried to do a story about his avoiding other women, not realizing their tale left him dancing with men, thereby undoing all their let's make him look straight efforts. Disney most likely not pleased.

Regardless, I hope he and Austin are enjoying their Christmas.

Sorry you are going to be stuck for Christmas PG.

Destiny I think diverse opinions are welcome on OMG. I would hope any regular who would have a problem with anything I say to feel free to challenge me on it openly.
I do suspect now that someone outside the OMG community is trying to rile me up to create friction. Not falling for it this time.

I am so happy that the reeke era may be over.

In my estimation "fanboy" and "fangirl" have gotten a bad rap over the last few years, especially concerning Jake Gyllenhaal. I don't get why you frequent a blog devoted 50% to Jake Gyllenhaal if you aren't at least a little bit fanboy -girl, you know? And if you aren't a fan, then why come here to comment at all about Jake Gyllenhaal? Why not move on?

No, I'm not a troll or a babbler. I'm a regular viewer here and semi-regular poster. But I always feel a little uncomfortable with those that doth protest too much about not being a fan, then proceed to tear down said object of your not-a-fan-of.

Oh well. Happy christmas in any event.

I love these gifts, Spesh, especially the Indie Rock Coloring Book, and the Blue Moon bird feeder, and the cuff links. Great post.

I love this version of O Come All Ye Faithful by Art Garfunkel too.

Merry Christmas to all! :)

I have to agree with c'est la vie. I guess I am a little bit of a fan of Jakes. Maybe even a big fan. You got me. So maybe that is the reason I havent moved on. Doesnt mean I havent felt like smacking him upside his head. I think Jake is gay. I think Jake and Austin did the wild thing. I think reeke was fake. I think Disney is very demanding of Jake. I also wish he had the balls to go tell them to screw themselves and then come out of the closet. But apparantly he aint listening to me. What can u do.

Bearding is homophobic. I hope Jake doesnt do it again. I like Jake in powder blue. I like Jake sitting next to Austin. I like Jake riding with Austin. I like Big Blue. I like that BBM is Austins favorite movie.

Nope I wont be seeing PoP. But I hope all who do enjoy it.

Agree totally, c'est la vie.

But I don't agree with the rest nor with ssdd.

What Destiny & Tom had to say was not "hate"; they're trying to figure out just like the rest of us what is behind all of this latest. Just like m (good points you made too, m) was pondering it all as well. This idea that every comment on here must be gushing & 100% support is unrealistic.

Once again, a comment like the 2 mentioned are impossible to consider when it comes on the heels of alot more friendly commenting days (where are you then, I ask???) and also from someone who only comes here infrequently and by a name that is used once or for only one day.

That being said, I must say the snow is rather pretty right now. Finally, yes, the snow has come. I'm in the hearth room, lights on all over the house, all 3 dogs in here with me and 25 Days of Christmas on while I'm also playing new Christmas music on my laptop to test out. lol. The electrical company is loving me!!

So it's all good in the end. Maizie keeps wanting to go outside. She's wild. She'd stay out there until she froze if I let her. I have to keep their doggie door shut or else she'll be out there and she is practically impossible to coax in. I've literally had to take her dinner bowl outside to lure her in. Then I have to pick her up & close the door, lol. She has snuck back out on me two times now so I've had to resort to sneaky tactics.

I like the Austin, Texas globe the best Spesh. Where the heck did u find that one? Maybe Jake and Austin are spending Christmas Eve there tonight with family. That would be awesome.

Merry Christmas to you, NETB, and to everyone here. It's one of the most wonderfullest of days and Christmas Eve being one of my absolute favorites.

Doesn't matter if I'm alone, so to speak, or with my family. It's still the best night ever, Christmas Eve.

And I've got crazy Maizie here, running around non-stop. I unwittingly left one of the dining room chairs out so she jumped up on it, trying to get up closer to those skylights. LOL. She's silly.

And it's a marathon of my favorites on 25 Days of Christmas.

And I also thank you, m & NETB, for mentioning the Art Garfunkel song. I had my volume turned down or I would have missed it.

With a birthday smack in the middle of summer, Christmas came right between, so it was the perfect stop to get something new.

I remember always gettting new PJ's on Christmas Eve, so we looked our best in case Santa peeked in while we slept. (Which Santa did one year, before I was born, my brother was standing in the hallway saying Santa's here, when he saw a tipsy Santa complete with sleigh bells standing in the hallway, a neigbhbor walked into the wrong house)

I remember getting my Dressy Bessy,my Chrissy Doll, and my little Dawn dolls and clothes. Funny I don't remember getting Giggles but she's the one that's still with me.

I remember more about the things I gave. The hankerchiefs that I bought my dad with my own money and knowing he really used them. And the hysterical crafty part of me who gave my mother a pineapple shaped cheeseboard I was extremely proud of, and my mother said "ohhh it looked like the tile broke in it
,and I said proudly "I got it like that, it was cheaper, you just have to put a new tile in it."

PG Maggie is going down to see Tink and Potter on Saturday. She got her haircut yesterday and is looking spiffy. Sure sounds like a lot of the country is having a white Christmas this year.

PG thinking of you. Last year Christmas was for me was spending 10 hours in Dulles airport waiting for new plane and eating chicken tacos and Starbucks for Christmas dinner. But I stuck it out with part of my family. Have to say I am glad I didn't take my brother up on his offer to fly me out to KC for Christmas this year or I would be stuck in an airport all alone.

Had to go out to the store today after finally finding out what I am supposed to bring tomorrow for the meal. It was a little nutty, and found me scaling up the side of grocery shelf to get the exact brand of cocktail sauce my sister in law said had to be gotten for her. Will finish wrapping later tonight, watching White Christmas, and soon will watch Christmas Story over and over.

Watching White Christmas and knowing Jake is a Danny Kaye fan, I giggle at now at the Sisters Number now. I know I played it way back when on a post about him and Ms. W. but no I grin for totally different reasons.

I had a lot of fun looking for the presents, from all over the place and for a while now.

The Austin globe I found on a site from Austin. My favorite is the monkey peeler (well because I love monkeys and its weird) I found from gift ideas from Wilmington and the map pendants that found on Esty. I immediately thought of them and the sentiment that they share with objects that connect them to each other.

Hen House grocery store

LOL @ store names in other states

prairiegirl said...

lol. Yeah, we have Hen Houses. We also have Price Chopper's! I've always loved Piggly Wiggly as a name for a grocers.

One of the best has to be the chain H.E. Butt down in the big state of Texas.

I actually put up two new posts on my Prairie Girl blog. One is of my crazy dogs here, Barks, Libs, & crazy little Maizie. The second is a picture of my tree and the buffet decorated.

I'm gearing up to take these dogs out one more time for the night. Ugh. This will require several trips because Barks needs to be forced to go out and kept out til he does his business. Then I have to carry Libby out by herself because she's very arthritic. Then it will be hard to corral that Maizie and get her back inside.

Good night all and happy Christmas Eve!
