Body of Work (Out)

Talking about transformation. Jake was nominated for Men's Health movie awards for Best Body Transformation for Prince of Persia. He was up against Garrett Hedlund (TRON: Legacy), Adrian Brody (Predators) and Mark Wahlberg (The Fighter). Wahlberg came out on top.

Tough competition but Jake's consistently looked top of the heap.

Know that Judy Greer would have voted for Jake in the poll. Check out what she has to say about working with Jake after he did PoP.

Jake was good in LAOD, and he looked good. It's a shame the movie was such a mess.

The problem for Jake is that there have been plenty of other mediocre and bad films that performed well at the box office, and unfortunately for Jake, I think he is getting some of the blame.

Easier said than done, but he needs to do something to shake up his career--and doing photo shoots with for tabloid covers with the latest beard is not the solution, even though I get the sense Jake and his people think it is.

I think Jake is perceived as having a problem with the male audience. None of his actions of the past three years are going to change that.

Also, as much as I love Jake as an actor, I don't think he has that "it" quality to be a big leading man type.

LAOD was a mess, I totally agree. It could've been so much better. But I think it was used as a tool to push Jake as a straight man. Sorry - but I think that was what that movie ended up being all about.

But I cannot be sold on the idea that Jake or any man for that matter relishes and gets off on being pictured as driving 200 miles to seek forgiveness from a 21-going on 17 year old Disney guitar strummer. You cannot tell me that.

How does that help him get roles? Respect? He's not stupid. I know he gets talked about as being a dim bulb but the guy didn't get to this point by being a dim bulb.

The way he knows how to maneuver under radar and play the paps, no matter how irritating it can be, shows the guy does have some smarts.

I may have finished my degree and he not, but I bet Jake could talk circles around me as far as a lot of things are concerned.

A movie career does not make a man. It's what you do with your entire life; our careers are but a part of our entire life. It's who you love along the way, the people you surround yourself with and talk to for even just 10 minutes, and what you do with what you're given that also make a person. It's how you do your best no matter what it is, whether it's doing a 5k walk, giving a big PowerPoint presentation to a ballroom full of people, performing surgery or vacuuming a room.

Jake has found his life partner & love. I believe he has a family now. He & Austin, I believe, have had some of THE most incredible, romantic trips together and traveled the world.

The guy is not lacking nor is he deficient. I also don't think he's unhappy as some would like to believe. It's all in how you look at it and what you are willing to open your eyes to.

prairiegirl said...

Sorry for the plethura of "I believe's". I reckon it's pretty apparent that these are my opinion and not stated as "speaking for the masses". I know how that seems to be a sore spot for some.

So thus you're going to get a lot of "I believe". That's the way it goes.

I think Jake gets off on any attention he can get.

I think Jake has bought the bill of goods his management has sold him about relationships with bigger female stars making him a star.

I think Jake, like most actors who want to be big "stars" has a big ego and or needs his ego stroked, and that he surely can't be happy he hasn't had any job offers in over a year.

I'm beginning to think Jake isn't all that smart, or just desperate, because yeah, I agree that most people would not do something like this whole fiasco with Swift.

I agree that Jake's PR is trying to build his popularity with the straight male audience, which he totally lacks and is most likely the target for Source Code. Why else play up his "dating" all these women after only being in the same room with them at an industry event for one evening. The irony is that its not working. The whole fiasco with Swift has made Jake being gay more known across the board than ever before. Plus his current image ranges from a low of near pedophile to a high of sappy wimp. He also seems to be the brunt of pretty vocal criticism in the HW press. Mentions of POPs lack of success and there have been some other negative articles printed recently. I think his PR people screen all the material and keep him in the dark about how the plan is working. Poor guy probably thinks everything is OK.

Florida Tom said...

I don't see how the woman or girls Jake is dating is going to help him with the male population. Reese and Talyor are not exactly Giselle or Beyonce.

If he weren't that smart he'd've been caught out by now. If he weren't that smart BT/BsT would have been spotted by now. If he weren't that smart we'd have pics of him in flagante delicto by now. But we don't. So that either makes him VERY smart or . . .

Hmmm Austin quoting Love Shack. Is the encore Fred Schneider's (who he is referring to) Monster in My Pants?

See someone else picked up on that and remembered that about the B-52's. ; )

And, I also remember Austin "knocking" pretty loudly last year when he tweeted lyrics from the song, Opposites Attract. The final stanza probably having extra special meaning for them both:

Baby ain't it somethin'
How we lasted this long
You and me
Provin' everyone wrong
Don't think we'll ever
Get our differences patched
Don't really matter
Cuz we're perfectly matched

LOL! Everything here seems to have an extra meaning.

But what does that even mean? That...what? Austin must like them because the founding male members are gay? Or that you are obviously gay if you're male and like them? I think he secretly wishes he had Cindy's beehive. He's almost there!!

LOVE!! IT!!!

This was an awesome song. My two favorite lines were always So Hurry up and bring your jukebox Money!! and the classic Tiiiiin Roooof! Rusted.

Man, I loved that. Rusted.

You know, I never looked at the lyrics to this song and this thing has been around since what, the 80's? Heard it a kazillion times. He's bad. LOL

Didn't sleep too well last night - think it's from worrying about the ice & snow coming. And I'm going to probably have to dig into my vacation time when I may have to call in.

Let me just warn all of you out there. Learn your Short Term Disability Rules and your company's stance of Family Medical Leave. Learn. It. All. Now.

Learn it all now before anything happens in the future because it will come and bite you in the butt.

Not only that but it is a double stinkeroo if your company outsources your Human Resources and I've got people from two different other countries deciding whether or not I get paid and deciding whether or not I can use my own STD that I have been paying out of my paycheck for who knows how many years!!

I'm just tellin' ya. Learn now before you literally break a leg. Or have to take an absence that's longer than 3 days.

Unbelievable, isn't it? Perfect attendance for 14 years straight - in other words, no use of sick time. And paying for short term disability. And still, that's not good enough to draw from for missing work due to a broken leg. Gotta turn it over to two countries who know zilch about my work history.

It's a crock and it's what this country has come to in terms of health care because it's certainly not at all about the patient. So someone outside of my company is eyeballing all of my vacation time like a tiger eyeballs a steak.

uh-uh, sister. You take your eyes right off of that. I earned that V-time. The nerve.

Sigh. Let's see, do I feel any better now? Not really. lol

And I don't mean any disrespect to foreign countries. One of the ladies is very, very nice. But I'm sorry - it is not right for the U.S. to outsource work for one thing. And it's not right for the outsourced workers to make decisions on a real employee of the company. That's a bunch of bunk.

We little American workers are hogtied and there's nothing we can do about it.

prairiegirl said...

Well, that's about as political as I'll ever get. LOL!

Ah well, such is life. Can't do anything about it and I'm blessed to be able to weather the storm so quit griping!!! lol

Well, off to check out what else is going on. Egypt is having a lot of unrest and violence and who knows what Charlie Sheen is doing now. Sheen is a real mess, I think. I feel bad for his dad.

I don't live in the US so I'm a bit vague on conditions of employment. Do you get what we call 'sick leave' (I'm in a govt job)? We get 10 days (paid) per year, and this accrues year after year. Doesn't sound like you get a similar thing??

Florida Tom said...

Every job is different Benefits. We get our benefits from our employers and not the government. At my job we get four personal days every year and we accrue sick time and vacation time every pay period. A lot of companies just put your time in one lump some called PTO or paid time off. Yes you can use your vacation time or personal days for snow days. I had to use one last week and may have to use more this week since we are expecting over another foot of snow on Wed. Holy smoke.

That is the same guy that was with Jake snd Adam Levine last year at the Lakers game.

prairiegirl said...

Tom's right, Benefits. All companies & businesses are different over here.

My job doesn't have actual "sick leave". It's up to the discretion of the supervisor. It's when you go over 3 days in a row that you start to get into trouble.

I'm all right - just had to get some griping off of my chest! I feel much better now and only hopefully about one more week in the Herman Munster shoe.

:)

Sorry, but I think those airport pics of Jake at LAX were from another time.

I think Jake was in NC with a cleanshaven face and that's why he tried to hide his face in those PITNB pictures.

That guy on the ship who looks like Jake from behind looks like he could be cleanshaven. That article that Destiny linked the other day about JJ showed that Jared Eng is in the back pockets of PR. Not only that, but there was something very odd about those pictures from the airport.

JJ had two different sets of pictures of Jake at airports in that set. I have never seen him mess up like that and some of us wondered how something like that could happen.

Or let me just put it this way. I am now increasingly highly suspicious about those LAX pictures.

prairiegirl said...

Wonder how many razors it took to weed eat through that shrubbery he had? LOL.

And why is he hiding his face? That's kind of ridiculous, Jake-knock it off. Everyone's seen your face now. Geez.

So Tom, are you guys about to get it again? Is it going to be the system that we're going to get starting tomorrow? Brother!

I'm ready to become a snowbird, I'm not kidding.

Back to the Doctors. Script filled and all. That did not come from a Pcychologist or therapist.

I love the B-52s, especially the early songs like Rock Lobster.

One of the women (Kate I think) is currently living with a woman.

Sorry about your situation PG, and all the snow.

One of the big advantages of living in Manhattan is that it is a lot easier to get around in the snow--you have the subway and buses, and they're really good about clearing the roads. And all the buildings are required to clean their sidewalks once the snow stops, and of course living in big buildings you have building staff who do all the work.

Florida Tom said...

Damn the more I look at that picture that Aus10 took of the ship in NC the more I think that gut could be Jake. It is amazing that the body shape is like the nexact match of Jake and now we see he did shave. The jeans looks like the jeans he wears. Always a little too long. The guy has a very short neck like Jake. Now if someone can find a pic of Jake or Aus10 with those type of shoes I am a believer.

prairiegirl said...

Our crew here at the complex do a very good job of clearing the sidewalks. They've bene out real early in the morning and evenings, too. And whoever our whse mgr has taking care of the lot does a great job, too.

But with all the snow we had, there was a lot of melt off when we hit the 40's this week. And so overnight, it re-freezes and like this morning, you had big ol' ice skating rinks in places where the melt-off was large.

But man, we're still not having near the amount of snow that you east coasters are. I feel for you guys.

You get so tired of it, you know? The salt on the bottom of your shoes. Boy, it does seem like they keep improving the quality of the salt, though, because it sure does a great job. LOOOOOVE the salt. lol Thank goodness for that stuff on the highways, too.

Spring!!!! Yes, I am so anxious for spring. Cannot wait!!

LOL - I knew Jake would retreat to the west coast sooner or later. Couldn't take it. lol.

Hey, Tom. Atticus is only six years old and will turn seven this September. He was a six month old pup when Jake became his proud Papa in March, 2004.
