Tie in

Jake was charming as ever on Jimmy Kimmel last night. Obsessed with Jimmy's cape tie, Kimmel could not resist the power of Jakey, and cut it off.

It wasn't all about Source Code, Jake talked about his birthday, helping his mom finding her a date (turning the tables, Jake?), Ikea Swedish meatballs, Grandparents ribbon candy, and what happens when you're not Oprah in Australia.

Jake also told a funny story about his best friend, his tie and yeah baby, and the BAFTAs, that made people wonder if they were a couple.

Anyone else think it was a kind of trail balloon?

Jake told how his mom got him a rare Banksy print for his 30th birthday.

Hmmm what's a little Banksy between buds?

I'm going around back to see if I can sneak in. Just saw Banksy tagging a wall. Stay tuned...

Also making the rounds is that Jake is talking about doing more than just acting. He's not giving it up but he is prepared to consider going behind the camera, and talking about directing. “That’s probably where the future lies for me – but I’m not going to give up the day job just yet. I’d like to see where it goes.”

“You're always wondering how long this will last. It's a piece of being an actor. There's always someone more talented or younger than you."

Jake has talked before about want to write before as well. He said he also developing a few things at the moment. Jake has had his own production company, Nine Stories, (named after J.D. Salinger's collection of short stories) for years. So will there be future projects under the Nine Stories title soon?

"But I also like to write. In years to come, I think that will expand. I won't just be scrapping for the next job. Maybe I'll create something for myself."

Now who else is an actor, who's talked about writing, and has had his first directing job?

Day 2 of editing. What an incredible process. I have been bitten by the filmmaking bug. I love this!! via Twitter for BlackBerry®

More than a bestie?

Loved the clips of Jake on Jimmy and will be looking forward to seeing Source Code on my next trip to the city.

Have a safe trip home Tom.

Destiny, thanks for your review and comments on Source Code.

Our weather if finally getting more Spring-like, even if it's still cool, the sun is getting stronger, and you can feel the potential for the new season.

Cheers...

...also Special, just loved the "Best Friend" video of Jake and Austin, and totally missed the connection between Jake's mention of Banksy and Austin's tweet. All of these cross references into each other's lives are not JUST coninkydink.

Noticed that Jimmy's lost a few pounds and he and Jake have a great rapport.

If you check out IHJ videos you can see Jake and David Modigliani in the audience at the Baftas and also he is seen on the red carpet at the baftas, he is the one holding an umbrella for Jake.

Justin Timberlake said : "I am Bansky" at the Awards and there was chatter before the awards that Bansky would make an appearence since a docu based on him was nominated.

We know that Jake was talking about his friend David and not Austin.

But talking about it in a context that people thought he was a couple with another guy can be seen as a trial balloon, about response he would received if he was to talk about being a couple with Austin.

And the Banksy thing - Jake did not have not to tell that story - he CHOSE to tell that story. Austin didn't talk about Banksy after Jake, he was talking about the Oscars.

But it could be that Jake was giving a shout out to Austin's tweets by telling the Banksy story.

Uhhh just like he talked about Bear Grylls AFTER had mentioned him in tweets.

Sorry guys haven't been following too close the last two weeks. Didn't realize that picture of Austin was taken in NC.

Hey too much if you don't like the blog why the heck are you here. Go on a blog where you can spread some good vibes. You will feel better. You sound like a real loser doing what you do here.

What do you think of the going behind the screen talk from both of the guys? I am anxious to see how Austin does as a director. Honestly I think of Jake more of a producer, getting people excited about a project, bring people together, and talking others in to backing it financially.

Would love to see them collaborate in someway again in front or behind the camera.

Interesting that they both are talking about it. I bet Austin would be great behind the camera. Maybe Jake, too - I'm not as sure about him.

But I'm a terrible judge about that anyway. After all, I hardly watch TV anymore and I hardly go to movies.

LOLLLL!!

Seriously, though - if that's what they need to do to be able to be open about who they are and what they are doing, then I would be very excited about it.

Well, I'm in the big F - Fairway. Watching crazy little Maizie and mr. Kirby. I'm a little dogsitting rusty. Forgot how to pack for a long stay.

Nothing like watching an episode of Wipeout to get some big laughs.

I had a lot to say having watched last night but had to rush to work for a meeting. First off I thought it interesting that Kimmel's first words were "you've outed my secret identity". The subconscious mind at work. Using the word "outed" in reference to Jake. I thought Jake's stories were a classic example of Jake trying to establish some straight cred. I don't think it worked though. He actually looked gayer than ever. I love that he is into Banksy. I've been fascinated with Banksy ever since watching Exit though the gift shop. If you have not seen it, its worth watching to see the all creative street artists out there. It's available on netflix instant watch.

Is Jake Gyllenhaal's dad single? I've decided, instead of dating hott young guys, I should just date their Dads or uncles about 2 hours ago via Echofon

I'm not sure about Jake as a director. You have to be able to communicate clearly and have a strong point of view. I don't see that in Jake, nor has he given us any sign of writing ability. Gyllenbabble is a real phenomenon. Now Jake and Austin as a producer/director team -that would be awesome. Jake is good at schmoozing. Austin is focused and has a strong point of view. They would work very well as a team.

Also interesting that Jake was trying to get a date for his mom. How about for himself, huh? Oh that's right, he is not on the market. It does show that he has reconciled himself to the divorce, which is good. And his mom certainly deserves a worthy companion.

I'm pretty sure Jake's dad is on the verge of remarrying or has already remarried. I think she was a professor at some college (in Denver)that he met while on a book tour for his poetry.

Dear Ted:
How's our fave Blind Vice, Toothy Tile, doing lately? A little birdie told me he's looking to get out of acting to become a director. Any truth?
—Jeanne

Dear Toothy Behind the Camera:
Wouldn't surprise me if he was seriously considering directing. Tooth loves attention, and directing will provide him with more outlets to search for that special someone. Of course, he'll try to be secretive about it. Maybe he thinks behind-the-scenes work will call for more privacy after hours with hot movie stars? Get it, Tooth!
