Back to Back to Black

Austin what's the deal?

Is this the new go to outfit?

Prison issued?

Or Black Ops?

Jake might suggest you go with a different hat though.

Well Mr. Nichols seems to be omitting that our cars are using like 1/100th of the fuel that a 747 uses, the kind that he gets on how many times a year to fly here, there and everywhere.

I'm not sold on the idea of an electric car. What do you do when you have a power outage? And you know what the power companies are going to do? If everyone gets electric cars, they're going to stick it to us on the electrical bills. Don't worry; we'll all end up paying for it somehow. Nothing is ever too good to be true nor does it come without cost.

Nope, not sold. Fact it, we all use the oil. We all need the oil, Aust.

Austin looks really good in that picture, love the suit, it fits so well! And love the messy hair. Thanks for the find PG.

About the electric car. Well the Chevy Volt is Motor Trend Car of the Year and they say it only costs 1.50 per day for the electricity to charge it.

And not sure if that's Austin's garage or not but someone is super organized, check out the matching storage containers on the rack on the door. ; )

Doesn't everyone organize their screws and nails in containers? Everyone I know does.

Does Austin drive a Nissan electric car? Why do you think that might be his garage?

Ah geez, he's shaved his head again.

I have given up hope. The Jake I came to OMG about is so gone.....he is so long ago, it isn't even funny. I can't even take consolation in the bare toes.

I give up. Still love the boys together but as far as the hotness factor, I've given up hope and it's time to let that part go. Jake just doesn't do it at all for me anymore. It's kinda sad.

OTH, enjoying Columbo very much tonight. He kills me.

Special K said...

PG it's short on the sides, we don't know what the top looks like yet. He starts shooting on July 6th for EoW.

Look it will grow back in once the movie's done, and hey he shaved his beard!

prairiegirl said...

Short? It's down to the spore, Special. And when the movie is done filming, the Papa Smurf beard will come back, along with the tan pants, navy & grey t shirts and denim shirt, and the scowl.

Nah, I am just facing facts. I don't get excited over Jake anymore. He looks just like all the others, like Gerard Butler and Brad Pitt.

And I don't think it's all about the fatherhood. I think it has to do with his hiding lifestyle, well - which I guess is due to his fatherhood. But this is it. This is Jake now. I don't comment as much anymore because frankly, I just am not excited about him anymore.

Austin to me is hotter than Jake. Not only that, but I think we get a glimpse now of Austin's opinions & feelings in an honest form than we do Jake. I can't believe anything Jake says anymore. And so because I feel like I have learned more about Austin, it comes through and enhances his physical attractiveness.

I think Jake's deceptive lifestyle has permeated through what was once just an unmatchable, incredible physical and sexual beauty, none of which I have ever seen since. But now that lifestyle has just totally altered him.

I won't be seeing this movie either; I can just tell I don't like it. Just like brussel sprouts. I just know.

I'm sure he's an extremely likeable fellow to those in his inner circle. And I'm sure he's an incredible father to his kids.

But as far as the public is concerned and I can only speak as someone who used to love looking at him on gossip sites, on here, and in a few movies, I don't recognize this guy anymore and I always feel like he feels like we're all intruding, we're a nuisance, and he just wants to be left alone now. But oh, he wants us to all go to his movies.

Well, it just doesn't work that way, not for me anyway.

And that's just the way I have been feeling for awhile now. Could change someday but I don't know.

New York Moves To Become 6th State To Legalize Gay Marriage

ALBANY, New York (CNN) -- New York legislators cleared the last major hurdle to legalize same-sex marriage on Friday with a 33-to-29 vote, sending the bill to the governor's desk for his expected approval.

Good news and bad news. Very happy for NY and the positive vote. So sad about Peter Falk. I spent many an hour watching him solve crimes as Columbo. Detective/police shows still one of my favorites and most likely due to him.

Have to agree with you PG. Jake does not look like he is enjoying himself anymore. More like going through the motions.

I popped over to Jared to check out the photos. Its pretty obvious that whoever posted most of the comments does not speak English as their primary language. Glad to hear the film starts shooting soon. We wont have to look at that beard for much longer. It really ruins his whole face.

Training the new hire at work is exhausting but I am enjoying gawking at him. His blue eyes and beautiful smile are mesmerizing. But, after a couple days interaction with him now, if I had to put money on it my gaydar is coming down on the side of he's gay. Still a joy to behold though.

Yes, great news, hooray for New York! I'll miss Peter Falk, one of my favorite roles of his was in Wings of Desire, where he played an angel.

prairiegirl said...

It is great, Tom. It's very exciting. I would think New York has got to be a really powerful state to pass this as long as the governor signs the bill which they say he should, right?

m, we'll have to watch Columbo together sometime!! I didn't realize you liked that, too. I just discovered Columbo shows in the last couple of years and I have a lot of the seasons on dvd. He just cracks me up; I love it when he gets on the nerves of the guilty.

He was so cunning. He came off as bumbling but he never missed anything. It was uncanny. And then he kind of went in for the kill just like Perry Mason. My sister is a huge Perry Mason fan and I enjoyed his movies. I loved the last ten-fifteen minutes when he would go in for the kill, too. Bam!!

Well, going to get ready and go into work this morning. We are very busy right now, got a lot of things going on. We've been working for a very high award for going on two years now and it's really kind of hitting stride in addition to our slamming of orders that we've gotten.

Hey Tom - love that avatar.

I had a distracting type-o in that last comment.

Music Lover, I was seeing a lot of mentions about this Wings of Desire on Twitter. Most just loved him as Columbo but then people would also say that their actual favorite role for him was in Wings of Desire.

A lot of tweets also mentioned him in The Princess Bride which Special alluded to early in the post. I didn't know he was in that either. Special, you picked a great line to re-quote.

It's sad that this generation is passing away now. I'm not sure what a lot of today's actors & actresses are going to be known for as far as their careers are concerned when a lot of what they're doing are all re-makes. I don't know, is that a fair question?

May I add my heartiest congratulations to all of my wonderful Gay friends on the historic marriage bill that was passed in NYC. I could hear screaming on the streets where I live in the far West Village last night. Quite touching.

PG, it's one of my fave movies ever. Such an intriguing idea. Peter Falk was surprising to see and great as an angel, still with the rumpled coat, and smoking I think too. I haven't seen it in awhile. :)

Thank you Music Lover. I am healing day by day. Each week that passes is a bit more progress.

The Gay Pride Parade here tomorrow will be even more cogent for everyone living in NYC and NY State. This historic vote will add another important dimension. I hope that the younger gay community can appreciate how far their community has come, how long these historic fights take.

I wish I could attend but standing for long periods (hours) right now isn't quite doable for me. Good friends will attend for whom last night is deeply meaningful.

For those who watch The Sundance Channel I'd like to plug a documentary on which I was archival consultant, Edie & Thea: A Very Long Engagement. It is on EST 5:30 pm Sunday and nationwide. It is a very moving documentary about a couple who'd been together for 45+ years who got married in Toronto upon learning one of them had only one year to live. It has won many documentary awards world over. blessblessproductions.com

ROMA said...

PS: The couple resided(s) in NYC. Edie is still very much alive too and kicking butt. In fact she is suing NYC's tax department for having to pay a huge estate inheritance tax bill due to NYC not acknowledging her and Thea's Toronto marriage. President Obama actually made reference to the case in the past months. Edie is in her 80s and has been for decades a huge gay marriage activist here in NYC. She continues her activism here to this day. Thank you all for your patience with this shameless plug.

Woohooo, what a night. Still can't believe we have gay marriage now in NY.

Last night we went to the gay synagogue, which we've taken to doing every year on gay pride weekend with a friend of ours. They always have a guest speaker, and this year it was Cynthia Nixon. She was there with her kids and partner, including the baby who was adorable.

Right before Cynthia spoke, they told us that there was news that there would finally be a vote on gay marriage, plus they'd been told that the bill had one more supporter, which meant it was going to pass. It was so wonderful to be in a crowd like that, and Cynthia's speech, which was always going to be on gay marriage and the ins and outs of what had happened in the past year or so, also turned into a victory speech.

After the services we walked down and joined the crowds outside the Stonewall bar, and waited for the official vote. We didn't have long to wait, and it was great to be in a crowd, although beyond cheering at the news no one really knew what to do, lol. So we headed for a very late dinner.

Despite the late night I got up early to have brunch with Roma, so this is the first chance I've had to get to the computer.

PG, Governor Cuomo signed the bill at about midnight last night, that's how eager he was to see this pass. It would not have passed without him. His top aide helped organize all the different gay groups (whose infighting and disorganization hurt the vote two years ago). He told Republican politicians who voted for it that he would not work against them the next election.

Other factors in the victory: a group called Fight Back formed after the last defeat raised money and targeted Democratic Senators who voted no before, and got some of them kicked out of office. This in turn caused other vulnerable Dems to change their vote (except for Diaz, a raging homophobe). Mayor Bloomberg, a Republican and a billionaire, made it clear he'd support candidates that come under fire for voting yes.

There was also a lot more involvement from religious leaders. That was a big help, because most of the opposition in New York has come from the Catholic Church and Catholic politicians (but not all, Governor Comuo is also a Catholic, although the church hates him because he's divorced and living in sin with his girlfriend).

Finally there are all straight allies who got involved this time around, many of whom made Marriage Equality commercials (tons of celebs, and others like sports figures)

destiny said...

PG, totally agree with everything you said about Jake and Austin in your post last night.

prairiegirl said...

Wonderful of Governor Cuomo to sign so quickly. He sounded quite ecstatic about it and it was fun to read various tweets about it. What an exciting time - congratulations to your state, Dest.

This has got to be a big step. New York is a cultural and arts leader. A trendsetter. I hope more dominos just continue to fall, including Kansas!

Roma, thanks for the heads up on the Sundance show. That sounds thrilling. I think we do get Sundance, too. We're also getting a free weekend of HBO - pretty cool.

And also, thank you for your firsthand account of hearing cheering from the street. That must have been so cool to hear.

Hey, and great news about Neil Patrick Harris getting married!!

That's wonderful. I hadn't realized they weren't married but it's uplifting to see them make an announcement so soon after the passing. They must live in New York, I guess?

I found an interesting interview with Ewan McGregor on The Advocate via twitter. I won't re-post the whole thing but a couple of quotes from him caught my eye. It's a pretty good read. He's going to be in a new movie where he plays the son of a 75 year old dad who comes out as gay.

There’s no shortage of stories about closeted men and women in the entertainment industry. What are your thoughts on the Hollywood closet?

Well, there are a lot of out gay people in the entertainment business. You make it sound like the entertainment business is an environment where gay people don’t feel happy to be gay. On the whole, you find lots and lots of out gay people in the entertainment business who are quite comfortably so.

Yes, that’s true. But I suppose I’m referring more to leading men and women — those actors paid to carry the big-budget rom-coms and action movies. Do you feel that they too can be comfortably out at this time?

You’re really talking about the top echelons of Hollywood, and that’s where being gay might matter. I’m not gay myself, so I don’t know what pressures there would be if I was a gay man in this industry, but you would hope that it wouldn’t even be an issue. Hollywood is a funny place, and it doesn’t bear much relevance to the real world. But I do know in terms of scripts and story lines that you can have very clever ideas that have to go because studios and producers don’t want to offend anyone; they’re so terrified that they won’t get their money back, so they try to appeal to everybody. So maybe we’re not at the point yet where being out is OK for every actor. Maybe some actors still feel like it would damage their potential career choices.

Have you not worked with closeted actors?

I’ve never worked with an actor that I know to be gay but who isn’t out — not that I know of. I have worked with a lot of out gay actors. In my world gay people enjoy great security in the entertainment business because it’s very open, much more so than if you were in a bank or something. So my thoughts about the entertainment business aren’t about people who are closeted but about people who are out.

prairiegirl said...

Yes, exactly. And once it did come out in the U.S., it struggled to find an audience. Although Beginners also focuses on a gay relationship that’s based on a true story, does it have more mainstream appeal?

No, I think Philip Morris is more mainstream. Beginners feels like much more of a lovely art movie to me. I really don’t know why Phillip Morris didn’t come out for so long, but I don’t know that it was purely its gay nature that prevented it from being released. I think it was with a distributor that ended up going bust or something. But Jim Carrey was in that big Christmas Carol movie, and I did hear rumors that Disney didn’t want to have Phillip Morris released before that because they didn’t want people to think that Ebenezer Scrooge was gay. It’s like, bloody *uckin’ hell, that’s unbelievable if we’re going to go to that level.

When you appeared on Good Morning America, you put George Stephanopoulos in his place when, amid off-camera laughter, he poked fun at a picture of you kissing Jim Carrey. You’ve also criticized the crew members who showed signs of disgust when you kissed Jonathan Rhys Meyers on the set of Velvet Goldmine. Why is it so important for you to combat that kind of homophobia and not just let it slide?

I would do that about anything in my life that I feel isn’t right. If people are prejudiced about anything, I would always challenge it, because you should wear your beliefs on your sleeve. I do that with my kids: I put them right if they step out of line about something. This just happened again on Regis and Kelly. The audience didn’t know what the film was about, so as I was describing it, I said something like, “It’s based on a true story about our writer-director’s father, who came out in his 75th year and told his son that he was gay.” When I said that, a woman in the audience laughed! It was unbelievable. I think she immediately realized that she was out of order, but it was so odd.

We hate her. Did you let her have it?

No, I didn’t call her out, but it was very clear from my reaction that I didn’t think it was a funny or stupid thing. This is just some woman in a chat show audience, but she reflects America in some way, doesn’t she? Things take a long time, as all things do, but we’re definitely moving forward.

How do you see us moving forward?

When I was at school, I didn’t know anyone in my year who was gay. “Gay” was very much used as a derogatory term for something that was stupid. My kids now go to school where there are gay people in their class, and I know some little boys in my oldest daughter’s class who are gay — and they were out at 13, 14. So we are moving forward, hopefully to the point where in 10, 15 years, or sooner, we won’t be sitting down talking about what it’s like to play gay. It’ll just be a part of a character’s makeup, which is how I’ve always thought of it. I’ve never played gay. I’ve played characters who are homosexual or bisexual men, but I’ve never approached them thinking, OK, now I’m going to play gay. Sexuality is a very important part of what makes us us, but it’s not everything.

I think Ewan makes a very good point about how things are progressing and our young people today are growing up in different times.

I also found it interesting about how Disney was not wanting Philip Morris to come out until after A Christmas Carol had come out. Disney is just so stupid sometimes.

Florida Tom said...
