Party Planning

Jumping in the wayback machine.

And today it's back to July 9, 2005 and Jake at Jessica Simpson's 25th birthday party.
A big bash at the birthday girl's parent's home in Encino, Jake joined Jess' then husband, Nick Lachey, her sister and then husband Pete Wentz, Eva Mendes, Mandy Moore, Topher Grace and Joaquin Phoenix and 150 other people wishing her a Happy Birthday.

It does seem a bit random for Jake to be there. Maybe he just can't say no to a charming Texan? And who knows maybe his own Lonestar was part of the Texas contingent representing that night.*

And it looks like the MTV awards wasn't the first time Jake posed with Eva.
And that Lonestar?

Well fast forward a few years, and Jake's party connections connect again.

First with a punchand then with a pumpkin.
Link*Wonder if that's how Papa Joe got the idea for a story about a single Jess secretly dating dating almost two years to the date from this party.

And, don't forget that whole Jessica Simpson and Adam Levine connection from around 2005-06. Now, we have Eva Mendes keeping company with Ryan Gosling. Uh-huh. That's got to be true, right? I mean they were in Disneyland and everything. We know that in April, 2007 Jake and Austin spent the entire day in Austin's trailer on the set of John from Cincinnati and then in May, 2007 they were caught together at Borders Bookstore. Hmmm, I wonder why in July, 2007 the rumor started circulating about Jake and Jessica dating.

Friends help friends. And, Texas friends are even more "friendly". Right, Austin?

Oh, and my all time favorite was from this year on February 5. This time Jessica took Jake's seat because the poor boy was stood up. How unfortunate, Jake has never heard of a cell phone:

Actor Jake Gyllenhaal recently experienced what it’s like to be a regular Joe when he showed up to meet someone at a Santa Monica eatery and they never showed up!

From E!:
Gyllenhaal was seated at a table inside the eatery but didn’t immediately order any items off the menu. As time passed, servers kept asking the all-alone-actor if he wanted any food or drink, but he declined.

The 30-year-old Hollywood hunk waited an entire 45 minutes before finally deciding to hit the road without ever meeting up with his mystery date.

To add insult to injury, after Jake left the table, it was taken over by Jessica Simpson and her fiance. Kinda like the restaurants way of saying, “Hey, Jake? Would you mind bouncing, ’cause even Jessica Simpson showed up with a date tonight.”

Wonder who Jake’s first post-Taylor public date was supposed to be…

So people saw Jake up at Columbia last night and then back at Angelica's Kitchen in the East Village.

And this morning he's back up on the Upper West Side.

OT:

Alec Baldwin had a couple of great skits on SNL last night. One on the 25th anniversay of Top Gun (yes, there were a lot of gay jokes), but my favorite was the game show spoof called, "Who's on Top?"

Rules: "When two gay men have sex one person is the top, and one is the bottom. We'll show you two male celebrities who hypothetically could have sex, and you decide, whoooooo's on top." LOLLLLLLL!

Balwin's answer regarding Timon and Pumbaa was perfect from The Lion King. "There is no top they trade off positions evenly. It's a circle of life." Ding, ding, ding. A winner!

Then in the lightning round the host asks the winner (who, of course, is Alec Baldwin) to think of two men having sex and Baldwin shouts out enthusiastically, "Done!"

It was hilarious. Luckily, no Jake jokes. But, once again, another gay themed show for Alec.

Balwin also did a great Tony Bennett impersonation too.

Alec was great, and he had some great skits.

He always looks like has the best time when he's hosting. And is up for anything they throw at him.

The Who's On Top skit was hysterical.

Too funny. This coming from someone who never provides any details other than personal assaults, tiresome snark and acidulous, contrarian points of view like, "Jake and Austin are never in the same city together."

Of course, if you prefer "the reality" of the gossip rags and the professional bottom feeders who continue to manufacture closeted scenarios and pressure gay men to be treated as second class citizens, then I guess that says a lot about your ability to see what is really going on beneath the hocus pocus of PR.

If Jake is watching the Red Sox or the Patriots today he is not a happy camper at the moment.

The Sox are losing to the Yankees in the 8th for the second time in this weekend series, and the first game of today's double header.

And the Patriots just lost the lead against the Bills in the 4th quarter. But Brady can bring them back with over 9 minutes of time left.

I missed SNL last night, out a lot later than I thought I'd be, but sure I can catch up with it later on demand. Love Baldwin and Radiohead.

Even if Austin was here in NYC this weekend, I don't get what that has to do with having more kids. If Jake and Austin are still together, then they're going to spend time together.
