Tennis Lessons

Before Wimbledon is a faint memory.

Now usually you think this guy when you think Wimbledon.

But this year it's all Jakey.

Why?

Well it could be that he's bouncing all over the place trying to cover every shot,

Look out Jakey playing it so close can result in getting caught in the net.

Budget bearding with Instagram, I see! Atta girl!

We're placing bets over here in Montauk on who is going to land the exclusive on the "Martha's Vineyard Farm to Table Culinary Tour with Jalyssa" I'm going with People, my dog Charlie says US Weekly. We got Austin on Skype and he thinks 'ol Lainey might be a contender - she's got a fondness for sourcing those important bearding details like whether the radishes on their salads were pink beauty or cherriette.

Whatever. I just hope whoever nabs the story spells my name right!

She's something else, isn't she? Where would Jalyssa be without that stylus? LOL

Still not ready for PrimeTime. They're taunting everyone, you guys. Not worth the time. Let us know when they can be adult about what they're doing.

Well, it's a return to work this morning. Wah! I thought I was ready yesterday evening until I went through work emails last night in prep for today. Ugh. Not so ready after all. Yup, it's a sad face today. Back to the salt mines!

Also thinking of Randy Travis this morning as I was reading last night about his admission into the hospital for complications from viral cardiomyopathy and is in critical condition.

He has had a very rough couple of last years and obviously has not been coping very well with whatever personal demons he's got.

prairiegirl thank you and no rush! Do not feel you have to rush! lol though I would love to hear the stories.

With respect to Alyssa, I guess what I was trying to say is that Jake has never "dated" the kind of woman that stops traffic. I do not doubt that she is a nice girl, but the reality is that there's a stigma around models and especially men who date models. Maybe he is trying to "toughen up" his image because he is doing a musical?

Funnily, I remembered seeing her somewhere when the rumors first started (those eyebrows cannot be forgotten), so I did a search and found a few articles about her when she started modelling back in the early 2000s. She did a few Vogue covers and then faded into obscurity because at the time fashion favored the "baby alien" look like Gemma Ward etc. Anyway, she was supposed to be only 15 but looked to be in her 20s (her PR people probably lied about her age, which is common in the industry).

This picture is from 2004-2005, she would have been 14-15 at the time, allegedly.

Knowing this, I do not think the age gap is too wide (I think she must be around 27-29) so hopefully they will have something to talk about in the car (such as hiding things from the public) on the way to the premieres.

I still think he should go for a "normal" girl or at least a girl-next-door type of actress... imagine all the covers "Why Jake chose to marry out of Hollywood", "Sexiest man alive AND family man" etc etc etc he could be the next Ben Affleck.

As for his house, I agree with prairiegirl's idea that he has kids. That would make a lot of sense. I don't think the paparazzi would care for a gay lover, but children are different. He could have easily signed a deal with the agencies so that they do not take pictures of him around his house unde the excuse that he wants to protect the kids. He lets them take pictures of him running on errands, they get the pictures, the kids and the husband are happy and Jake's career is safe.

Incidentally, I found older pictures of Jake back when he had perfectly groomed eyebrows. I hope I do not come off as judgemental, but I have yet to see a heterosexual man with over tweezed eyebrows. I guess he wasn't scared of being himself back then.

Nice old photo. I don't think I realized Jake had a nose job!

I don't condone bearding, period. I understand it, why it's done, I get the pressure that actors are under, etc. There has never been an A-list movie actor out of the closet. Who wants to be a guinea pig on that one and see if they get roles in the aftermath? Clearly not Jake. But I especially can't condone what Jake is doing (active bearding) when he has a kid. I hope he doesn't drag this out too long. I still think this whole thing is going to be just 2-3 months, and his people felt it necessary because it had literally been almost 3 years since he'd had a girlfriend, and that was Swifty, which most people took as a joke.

As for paps... I'm willing to bet that outing actors via pap photos is not on any pap agency's agenda. They'd be blacklisted if they tried. Hollywood (the industry) has a very protective cocoon for actors when it comes to sexuality. Everyone loses if a hearthrob-imaged actor is outed - the actor, studio, everyone in this person's current and upcoming movies, the tabloids that don't get to run hetero cover stories on that person anymore, the paps, all the 10 percenters. And unlike a drug problem or illicit affair or even beating up your wife, an actor won't 'recover' or be 'forgiven' for being gay. In contrast, everyone wins if an actor has a publicity-worthy hetero relationship that takes off (think Jake and Reese). It's sick, but these interconnected threads help keep people in the closet.

I agree Jake probably has an agreement with the paps to not shoot him near his apartment.

Or, with his kids. There is an agreement. A photo ban of the highest order.

That's how the bearding game all works. Everyone is compromised and feeds off each others fame and fake relationships. No matter how absurd or unbelievable those relationships are. Too bad for Jake that his hook ups are usually just not believable. Kirsten was the only one who looked natural with him and that's because they were probably genuinely friends first.

I don't know if anyone has seen that recent Huff Post article where Hugh Jackman goes on and on about NOT being gay. It's so apparent that he is trying to "persuade" people by addressing the elephant in the room. He is one huge paranoid closet case with a lot of power. Notice how he didn't hang out with Jake during the making of the film, Prisoners, at all. He didn't want to go anywhere near that rumor waiting to happen.

Hey suckapuck, just wanted to let you know the list is coming along quite well. lol. But still in progress.

Ohhhhh yeah. That was a piece of work, wasn't it? Hugh Jackman is so paranoid, it isn't funny. And yeah, it is totally noticeable that there were never any stories of Hugh and Jake hanging together during filming.

If Hugh is so paranoid as to talk like he did in that Australian 60 Minutes, I bet there was no way he was going to put himself in any position to have raised eyebrows and "Hmmmm's" over any story of him and Jake breaking bread or spending any time together.

Notice they were both workout "fiends" during filming but Hugh went to his own gym and Jake was all about the flywheel. There weren't even any jogging together stories.

Hugh Jackman Gay Rumors: 'Wolverine' Star and Wife Express Frustrations on Australian '60 Minutes'

Posted: 07/01/2013 11:00 am EDT

Hugh Jackman wants you to know he's not gay and he wishes you would stop asking.

In a recent interview with Australia's "60 Minutes," Jackman and his wife of 17 years, Deborra-Lee Furness, expressed frustration over the constant rumors about the actor's sexuality.

Jackman, who in the past has starred as the flamboyant lead of the Broadway show "The Boy from Oz," finds the accusations, as flattering as they are, frustrating. He also just feels bad for his wife.

"It's, to me, not the most interesting thing about a person, anyway," he said. "I do get frustrated for Deb, cause I see Deb go, 'Ah, this is just crazy!'"

Furness just finds the questioning "offensive."

"If he was gay, fine, he would say he's gay," she said. "It's annoying because it's not true."

This isn't the first time Jackman has spoken out about how the rumors affect his wife.

In February the actor told The Hollywood Reporter the speculation "bugs" his wife and he revealed she has a hard time ignoring whispers about his alleged homosexuality. "She goes: 'It's big. It's everywhere!'"

The "60 Minutes" interview also features adorable exchanges between Jackman and his wife who fell in love when they co-starred on the TV drama, "Correlli" in 1995. The couple discusses how their lives changed after the "X-Men" films, how their kids, Oscar and Ava, are not too impressed with superhero dad, and how much in love they still are after all of these years.

Jackman is currently reprising his role as Wolverine for both the new solo Wolverine movie, due out July 26, and the wildly anticipated X-Men sequel, "X-Men: Days of Future Past" due out in 2014.

Does that article sound familiar or what? Adam Levine in The Advocate from September 2010?

And what is so funny, is this is a brand new interview. It's not even a rehash. Hugh just gave this interview - he's the one who keeps bringing the subject up.

This bearding gig of Jake's could be some kind of insurance for poor Hugh, who doesn't seem to think all the testosterone pumped into those huge biceps of his is enough to cushion him.

That's an interesting phrase, isn't it? Look how H. Jackman uses his wife to hide behind. He tries to insist that he is not bothered by the rumors (oh, no, not Hugh!). But, it's his wife who suffers so much. Of course, that means he must speak out against the allegations. The idea that he did this role in the late 90s and early 21st century as the reason for the gay rumors is also classic Jake. These guys need to get a better script.

AUSTIN NICHOLS ‏@AUS10NICHOLS 16 May

"So we beat on, boats against the current, borne back ceaselessly into the past." -F. Scott Fitzgerald
10:50 PM - 16 May 13 (GMT-05:00)

As Kismet spoke so well about up there, there hasn't been an A-list actor out of the closet. Great strides are being made, but no - no A-list yet.

And with someone like Hugh grabbing the bullhorn and bellowing about "accusations", that sure doesn't ease the peer pressure, does it?

I'm not excusing what Jake and Austin are doing, but I will say that to me? Jake is looking and acting like a beaten man in the sense that he really isn't fighting the system anymore. He seems resigned to following in the footsteps of all the other closeted bearding actors in order to maintain a straight image in order to grab that brass ring. All I have to do is look at how he has now involved Chris Fischer in the whole scheme. Chris - someone whom we've not seen for quite awhile but now seems to have joined the circling wagons. Whatever it takes, right?

Jake's not the public free spirit that he was pre-Brokeback. I think it started with a few members of his own family who helped to find his first beard in Kirsten because he had fallen in love with Austin. And then his management pounding on him. Probably pressure from movie studios and perhaps other peers. Pound, pound, pound.

You know, when you're young, you've got a lot of spirit, a lot of fight. You're going to change the world. You're going to do this, do that. But sometimes, someone doesn't want you to break ground, you know? Things are working just fine the way they are, don't rock the boat.....

And if you're pounded down enough and told you just can't do something, you'll never be able to do this or that, it's never been done before, don't screw it up for the rest of us......well, the spirit begins to flag. The fight begins to wane and we may accept our fate.

And maybe Jake and Austin are learning how to live in this fashion so well that they don't know anymore how to get out. They are so familiar with the names of the streets that they live on, they don't want to venture out past the neighborhood any longer.

With people like Chris, Sophia, Mama GHaal and Maggie, Adam Levine, and paid tweeters helping out, well - all that help just pads the cocoon or the kangaroo pouch. There's no need to budge out into the insecurity of the unknown.

That still doesn't excuse particular behaviors, but I'm just saying I can understand how someone might lose their spirit after having been pounded for so long. Talk about being caught in a web you can't get out of. I think that's these 2 guys and that quote up there from Austin sounded more despondent to me than hopeful.

Great point, Jackman. And see how they use Hugh's role in "The Boy From Oz" much like they use Jake's role as Jack Twist in Brokeback Mountain as the leading "cause" for everyone thinking that they're gay.

Inevitably, on any thread of comments on an article about Jake, if anyone brings up the subject of sexuality, there is somebody else (most likely a PR paid commenter) quickly on the thread to blame Brokeback for the reason why everyone thinks he is gay.

It's like clockwork.
